So here's my review - apologies again to Defender for the delinquency, because what you did in sending them out was very cool.
My take echoes what's been said before for the most part.
Here's the stuff I didn't like: the cord is a strange length. It's short, as has been mentioned before. I pretty much game on the floor in front of the TV so it's not a big issue for me, but you wouldn't be able to kick back on the couch with this I don't think. The buttons are stiff - also mentioned before. I tried this with Winning Eleven 6 and wasn't too happy with it - I threw in Gran Turismo 3 just for kicks and had a hard time there as well...it felt like it was pedal to the floor or no pedal at all, no in-between. So - analog button functions, not the most precise. Also, the controller feels very light in the hand - not in a cheap way necessarily, but it doesn't feel like it's got any heft to it, which I'm not used to. I'd chalk that more up to personal preference though. The analog sticks felt a little stiff but I imagine those would break in just fine - I'm sure my Sony controllers felt the same way once.
Outside of those things, it worked as well as any other third-party controller. There's no question that it's not a Sony - but neither is the stuff you'd get from Mad Catz and places like that, stuff for which you'd pay a heck of a lot more. I loved the rumble feature on this thing, and I think it beats the Sony controllers there - you really feel it...not a big deal to some folks I guess, but I feel like if you're going to have that feature at all you should really exploit it. I played Fatal Frame with this and you could really feel the heart beats - very cool. Also, I mentioned that it was light, but it didn't feel like it was of poor quality - someone mentioned loose buttons I think, but I had no such problems with mine. It felt as well made as anything else put together out of plastic.
I'll say this, as the ultimate review: I have a Mad Catz controller that I bought a long, long time ago indeed, and I freakin' hate it. It only gets dragged out for multi-tap FIFA sessions. I would rather use this no-name controller than that Mad Catz controller. So there you go - I won't lie and say it's the greatest controller in the world, but I don't think anyone will argue that the DualShock still reigns. This though is a sweet second controller, certainly not something I'd feel bad about being stuck with myself for gaming, and for the price it's freakin' highway robbery. It is recommended.
