But the whole purpose of F2P is to attract people who wouldn't normally touch an MMO due to the subscription commitment. If they like what they see, then they can decide if they want to pay for more. Yes, that's similar to a demo, but it's not without its merits. It's hard to criticize a game that has a lifetime membership priced at $35. At worst, it equals a budget priced game that you play for a month and never touch again. Not much of an investment risk here. I don't know much about this game, but I can at least appreciate the approach they're taking. I think this is how you make a console MMO work, and it sure as hell is a better approach than DC Universe Online took.
Statistics show that DC Universe Online has been just as successful, if not slightly more so, on the PS3 as it has on the PC. Free Realms will almost certainly get more subscribers on the PS3 (compared to PS3 DCUO) due to its price point, more casual environment, and the fact that it isn't targeted primarily at people familiar with DC Comics characters and environments, but I have loved every second of DCUO since the beta and I was one of those people who scoffed at the notion of paying a monthly fee for any game.
