Only good in the Southeast. Bummer
No, should work everywhere. From snopes:

"However, a follow-up call to Starbucks' Customer Relations department yielded the information that the company has now extended the offer throughout the United States due to the rapid nationwide spread of the e-mailed coupons. "

That's if I dont get shot down when I try to use the coupon, I'm sure that's the excuse I'll get.

I've seen a couple verified cases from everywhere around the US thanks to DIGG. Though it does seem fake, there is a code there that can be used; 113, and apparently it works. On that note, I'm going to print out many and give them out to all my friends and apartment complex.

damn....free expensive and yummy coffee!? totally worth it for us addicts! thanks OP!!!

(addict = drinks coffee 24/7, year round, hot or cold)

been hearing alot about that 'new' African/Latin blend!!!!
So if you just print off the coupon I should be able to walk in and grab some iced cofee?
If it works, yes, but you have to order it still.
ok i think this is gonna be too much of a hastle just for some coffee...sorry i posted this...
I'm not!!

Thanks, OP!!!!!!!!!!!

Works in San Antonio. Handed out a bunch of printouts to people around campus. I'm sure the Starbucks down the street's gonna hate me for that. =D

this was posted today...

The free-coffee tap is getting turned off.
Starbucks (SBUX, news, msgs) announced on Tuesday that it was withdrawing an offer of free iced coffee to a limited number of employees and their friends and families in the southeastern United States.
In a statement, Starbucks said the offer "has been redistributed beyond the original intent and modified beyond Starbucks' control."
The company said an e-mail offering a free Starbucks iced coffee was sent to a limited group of employees in the southeast on August 23, with instructions to forward it to friends and family.
But apparently the promotional coupon, which was widely posted on the Web, was a little bit too successful: Starbucks said on Tuesday that, effective immediately, the offer would no longer be valid at any Starbucks locations.

Didn't quite work in Bellingham near Haggens, they gave the line about it only working in "certain markets" next time I'll tell them about the email and all, or I'll print it out or something.

just in case people overlook it since it was last post on 1st page;)

Starbucks caught on pretty quick the last time a coupon spread around the 'Net. They can't be giving out thousands of free $5 drinks AND let the employees keep their benefits, you know. ;)

Funny. The Oregonian just ran an article about this same coupon, but it said the Starbucks around here would allow customers to use it, but to try to keep it to 1 use.

The story was on CNN today. Starbucks is discontinuing the offer. They apparently didn't expect it to spread so fast on the Internet.

I just received an email from Caribou Coffee that says:
You may have heard that one of our biggest competitors
(who shall remain nameless…but has a big green logo) recently issued a coupon for
a free iced coffee beverage and then decided not to accept it.

Although they won’t honor their coupon, CARIBOU COFFEE WILL!

Bring your coupon to any Caribou Coffee on Friday, September 8, 2006, after 12 noon
and receive a FREE Medium Cold Press iced coffee, Iced Americano or Iced Tea.

Now, we know that many of you are Caribou Coffee enthusiasts
and probably didn’t get their coupon. Don’t feel left out!
Just print this email and bring it in to any Caribou Coffee - and we'll give you one anyway!

Finally, feel free to forward this on to your “green” friends.
We’re happy to honor their coupons and welcome them to Caribou.

At Caribou, you are important to us - and we look forward to making your day better!
Genius marketing.

Wow, that is pretty smart.

I bet you Starbucks will start accepting the coupon again after a week!
$114 million, that's a whole lot of fucking coffee
If each cup of coffee is only $5, that'd be around 22.8 million cups that weren't given away according to the laywer.
I'm all about getting free stuff, but to sue? I hate people.
yea its a bit ridiculous to sue for a cup of coffee...but hey...every little bit to of cash to purchase games would help right?
and not only that....what that coupon made people go through...
1. no free coffee
2. had to drive there
3. waste of gas
4. waste of time
5. public embarrisment for using a "fake" coupon

why not get a little back from the coffee giant of the world which takes hundreds of dollars a year from every coffee drinker in the world?

If you're smart enough to use the internet, you're smart enough to either call ahead, or see that they stopped the promotion. I bet he's one of those 'OMGR0x0r5, a fr33 c0up0n!!! I'll rush out right now and use it!!!' guys.

If that woman wins her case, I hope Starbucks hires a hitman to take her out. It's people like that, especially when they win such ridiculous lawsuits, that make me ashamed of being a natural-born citizen of this country.

so your telling me if you got a coupon for mcdonalds or burgerking or whatever the fuck you eat...your gonna call ahead cuz you dont trust a multi billion dollar corporation to honor their coupon?? get the fuck outta here...and just because i know how to use the internet doesnt mean that i'm constantly online checking if they stopped a fuckin promotion....i got a life unlike you...staying in your room all day all night just going online looking for deals and checking to see if any coupons got cancelled while jerking off looking at pictures of your mom at your favorite porn site that i took of the whore after i fucked her...so just keep your mouth shut and go back to reading your little archie comic that your mommy bought for you with the money i paid her

I didn't realize we were going to have the honor of the suit starter here with us today. Must be a great life to come into this thread and respond to little old me.

i hope you enjoyed your stay at CAG, DemonicAngel. i fear it may be over soon. then again, maybe the mods are more forgiving than i've seen in the past.

and shouldn't this have been moved over to the dead deals section?

just for the record...not that it matters to me...Coch is the one who started this "bashing on a fellow cag" all i was mentioning was why not get a little something back from starbucks...
and Coch is the one callin me a what?
