Seeing how these 2 titles are beginning to drop in price, I'm cotemplating on throwing down on these puppies. Can you guys and gals give me some feedback on these games? I wouild greatly appreciate it.
Freedom Fighters has good solid gameplay and graphics and controls similar to Max Payne. XIII is the closest a FPS has come to being like Goldeneye in a long time. It has sylish graphics, cool gadgets, good deliberate pacing, and nice detection of shots to the enemies.
freedom fighters (for pc at least) was incredibly fun. it is short, but its such a good experience. it has a great story, and the controls and gameplay rule. i would definately recommend it.
Just finished the game and it was well worth it IMO (especially for ~11 bucks). Great blend of action and some tactical strategy. I usually hate squad based games, but this bordered more on the action than tactics side. I liked the idea of completing some objectives in some levels to make others easier (ie. taking down the helipad). It was tough and frustrating at times, sometimes I would be doing fine then get shot out of nowhere from a sniper or machine gun and get wasted. But maybe thats cause I am impatient and always run out myself to take out the whole red army.
I played the cube version and got it for ~11 bucks from the EAstore using their coupon.
Freedom Fighters was one of my favorite games of 2003. To complement the Soviet theme of the game, IO Interactive hired the Hungarian Radio Choir to sing a Russian soundtrack, and it sounds absolutely awesome. Get it.

Agree. The game is a bit longer than max payne 2 and you get to control a small unit(up to 12) of soldiers to do your bidding. Let them do all the hard work or just be there for support, it's up to you. The soundtrack goes really well with the game, you gotta love that hungarian radio choir. If you can do PC thats the way to go as its similar to a first person shooter.
EDIT: Someone else knows about the Hungarian Radio Choir and posted at about the same time. LOL
XIII was underrated....while not a great game, it had an interesting story and some nice cel-shaded graphics. If you can pick it up for $20 or less I would.
Do you think FF may be better off renting then purchasing? I never play through a game twice ( Ninja Gaiden being the exception ). Unless I can pick it up for $10 I think I may just rent . What do you think? How many hours of gameplay on this?
I played thru FF twice on different settings.
The music draws you back. Saw this at Gamestop today for $10, but there was a huge line and only 1 guy working, i settled for a bottle of Vanilla vodka for $10 next door at the liqour store. I will go back next week for my 2nd copy of FF....1 is the loaner copy.
I've played the PS2 versions of both, and I can say that for $20 each, they're well worth it. I'm not the kind of person who can rent a game, finish it, return it, and never want to play it again, so I don't suggest renting FF. I'm sure you could beat it one weekend, then have an urge to play it again a few weeks later.
I have to agree with everyone who posted about Freedom Fighters. I was a little worried about picking it up, but have not regretted it for a minute. Short game, but a great story and great gameplay. I didn't know about the soundtrack, but it makes sense now.
If you have the chance, I'd get both FF and XIII for the PC. Having the mouse on both of these games has to help. I've only played them for the PC and they were very enjoyable. Didn't finish XIII yet.
