Frontlines: Fuel Of War - Gen Discussion & Info

its pretty fun, its nice that instead of airstrikes and helicopters you can choose your type of "special weapon".

I like the gunship that thing seems to just obliterate everything, haven't really toyed around with any other specials aside from air support but definitly worth a rental as it will most likely be more popular when it first comes out.

I have been playing the demo a little and it looks promising. The MAJOR flaw is that players are able to change sides during the match. Also, I'm finding that teamwork is essential. Communication, organization, etc...

Just interested to see the impressions of some others here.

I actually like the Demo. But is it me or is there no Chat function for the Multi Player? If there was Maybe im just missing it or something?
^Wow, like every else on the Internet quality, pure quality ^
That sentence you typed is pure quality.

It's squad based combat so you have to enlist or start a squad. That's one of the hard parts, its almost impossible to do very well with out an organized squad. Pretty difficult to achieve in a demo.

I believe so. When you first spawn into the game press the "D" pad around and it will give you squad options. You can start your own squad or join another. Once you start a squas you can then send out enlistment requests through squad management. I believe each squad can only have 5 players. One of the bad things is that right now is that there is no way to communicate from squad to squad, just within each squad.

sounds similar to BF 2 on the PC

I'm going to download it, looked kind of interesting but I think I'm looking forward to R6V2 more than it, and I dont have that much cash to spend.

Why RBSV 2? It is just like RBSV 1. Ubi Soft is the new/current EA. They dont have any innovation in their games anymore. Graw 1 and 2 RBSV 1 and 2 all just copies of thier former game

Played the demo last night with a bunch from my Live friends list and the game was much better. This is really a game that needs 3 people at least on the same squad to make it worth playing.

My impression is that many dl the demo and are getting a bad impression because this game requires squad level team work to be effective. I would say anyone that's looking for a FPS soley, will be VERY DISSAPPOINTED with this game. The FPS aspect of the game merely allows you to move through combat, but the overall required strategy is what is the appeal of this game.

I would suspect that people that are into RTS games and the occasionaly shooter would like this game much more than the strict FPS fan. With all this being said, the demo might just be a nail in the coffin for this game. Looks like it will turn many away.

So, my .02, if you like squad level organzed combat for the taking of objectives, this is a good game, some might even say GREAT. If you're looking to run and gun and want finger on the trigger action, this game probably isn't for you although there is definitly a place in the squad for that type of combat role.

I thought we were all getting bad impressions because the game was bad, hmm.....

If this game is good/great then everytime you pop in Rainbow Six: Vegas you should instantly cream your pants.

I'm playing it right now. I am new to the Frontlines games, so my opinion hold no prejudice. So far I...

- Don't like the death animation
- Like the 'enemy distance tracker'
- Really dislike the voices and firing sounds
- Like the gadgets (drones in particular)
- Do not like the labeling of allies and enemies
- Not too fond of the sometimes imprecise weapon selection button and toggle
- Dislike the forced toggle from standing to crouching to prone
- Don't know if it's standard, but if so, I dislike how it takes more than one sniper headshot to kill someone
- Like the double-zoom for the sniper rifle
- Like the large size of the maps
- Like the refueling stations
- Dislike the animations (running in particular)
- Dislike the lack of COD4's Kill Cam
- Dislike the minimal amount of weapons
- Like the amount of players in multiplayer
- Dislike the ability to switch teams
- Dislike the lack of customization for, in COD4 terms, 'classes'
- Like the Deployment Zones
- Dislike the lack of limit to running and how it seems like weapons don't factor into speed

However, I enjoyed it far more than Halo 3. In my honest opine, the only thing Halo 3 has going for it is a story people seem to find interesting, and lots of players.

*shrugs*

This is fun, but I wait for Vegas 2.

I finally got to play the MP demo and I have to say its pretty much average now that I'm used to all those really good shooters like Halo 3 and CoD4.

Agreed. I really love the idea of FPS games where you can have squad members with specific tasks like heavy gunners, air support, engineers etc (anyone remember Wolfenstein). And I love the fact that you can man tanks, jeeps, and helicopters. But the graphics of this are first gen Xbox at best and the game mechanics are just .. off. If we could somehow combine this game with the polish and mechanics of CoD4 we'd have a real winner.

Not surprising most FPS fans dislike the MP demo. I think FOW is trying to appeal to a different gamer. With that being said, FOW MP demo as it stands right now has its share of problems.

I think KAOS is in for tough times launching in front of RSV2, real FPS appeal there.

Too bad FPS dominate the consoles, it's a shame really. More RTS coming though and FOW looks like it's trying to be a meld. Too many little things making this demo fail right now.

Yea guess what Blackhawk Down for the xbox had 50 ppl and it still sucked. More people doesnt mean better. Just like resistance 2 will have 60 ppl or whatever. Thats stupid. Can you imagine having 25- 30 ppl shooting at you.

If you have played battlefield 2 you will know what I am talking about. Thats 12 on 12 and generally you cant go more than a minute or two without getting shot

If it is done right, it can be fun. Play shipment on COD4 with 18 people to see what I mean.

Well, upon getting the MP demo, my hopes for this game have picked up a little. It seems better than the Campaign Demo by a long shot. I still think I'm going to hold out for BF BC, but I might give this one at least a rent.
But thats only 9 on 9...granted on a really small map....
Doesn't matter. The point is, if you do it right, 25 v 25 is alot more fun than 4 v 4 or 8 v 8.

Even though it might not help much, can the OP edit the title to reflect "32 Player MP Demo..."? Most people don't even know about this game. I just randomly clicked on this thread after I saw the new title and saw how many players this game was going to support.
I didn't like the campaign demo....is the MP demo better?
Much funner, due to it being multiplayer. You get to use vehicles and drones (little remote control bots that you can try to denonate enemies. Also the best helicopter drone is cool, you get to fire little rockets)

I bought it and I do enjoy both the multiplayer and campaign. My other main shooter game I play is Halo and this is a great way to play a different kind of shooter when you just want to play something a bit dfferent. Also, the campaign is much different and deeper than I thought it would be (didn't play the demo of it way back). Good stuff overall.

Anybody around here still play this game? Is there even still an online community?
I ask because I just picked it up at Target for $9.98 but am thinking I might just return it if I won't even get my $7 (purchase price - potential trade credit) out of it.
