Dudes. Stop yer cryin' about not having a Fry's and just get this stuff pricematched from the site listings at your local Best Buy! Besides, most of the stuff that people want is OOS at Fry's both in-store and online, so even if you had one near you (or realized you could order from them) you wouldn't be able to find it at Fry's anyway. PMing is the way to go, dudes. PMing is the way to go.

I can't imagine price matching at BB with an ad from a store that's not even in the state. I never even heard of Fry's until I came on CAG.

They are not going to PM if you don't have one around. I don't think they are as stupid as you think they are.

You're not reading what I am saying. Are there any Amazon stores around you? No? But they pricematch Amazon, don't they? Yes? Well then there you go. Have them pricematch the WEBSITE, as these prices are all valid on their WEBSITE. They aren't going to be "stupid" for doing this, as it is at the manager's discretion to pricematch website prices. I - and thooooousands of others - have successfully pricematched website prices before. Give it a shot.

when the website clearly states "out of stock"...?
Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Do you guys NOT want to get this to work or something?
chill out man...it was a simple question.

Well if someone else tries it tomorrow and has success I might give it a go. I would just hate to go over there and be shot down. The sheer disappointment would crush me... :(

Sorry, but look, the entire thread is loaded with people complaining about everything being instantly out of stock and not even available in-store. There is no other context for pricematching in this case besides Fry's being out of stock of the product. Reading the thread and connecting it to people making pricematching posts AFTER the out of stock posts would indicate that,

yes, it is entirely possible to pricematch when the website is out of stock and there is not a store in your area.

But it doesn't always happen. By the way, can you point me to the piece in the price match policy for Best Buy that says they price match online stores such as Amazon? Because most stores will not price match a store that does not have a B&M presence.

No, I can't, because I have never read it. I have, however, easily and readily pricematched many things from Amazon at Best Buy.

If you guys don't want to try and get this deal, fine. I am not going to force you. I am just telling you that many people have benefited from this deal by pricematching at Best Buy, as we have many, many, many times in the past. Enjoy wallowing in self-pity or playing Negative Nancy or whatever.

You say that as if EVERY Best Buy will PM online stuff like that.

In essence, your bitching about other people bitching is just as bad.

hmm got shot down at my BB... shoulda printed out your post and took with me

actually it's very ymmv... did I expect it to work. well about a 25% chance since there's no fry's within 1000 miles of me. I think the problem was the webpage says Fry's.com instead of just Fry's.

But I'm sure I'll try it again sooner or later.

I'm gonna try it shortly. Don't have my expectations too high, so we'll see what happens. What irks me about supershammy posts are that he's belittling us for not being so receptive to his advice, and in my mind he is greatly exaggerating the success rate here. If thousands and thousands of people really had luck like he claims then it would be discussed more greatly on these boards. I don't think any of us are idiots for thinking realistically and logically.

Was denied at my local BB for a PM. Operations supervisor flat out lied to me about the titles being in stock at Fry's. They looked at their monitors and told me it was out of stock online at both my local Fry's stores and they said they could not get anybody on the line when they tried calling. I didn't have my phone on me to be able to to call or check the website to verify.
I went home and checked online and the five titles I wanted were available among my two local Fry's. It's one thing to deny a PM due to avoid cutting into their margins, but it's another to completely deceive a customer. I wasted 15 minutes of my time waiting patiently for them to deny my PM. I'm tempted to file a complaint, but luckily the Target across the way PM'd Fry's without hassle. This was the BB in Westminster, CA.

I was about to pick up "Run Lola Run" but decided against buying it on Fry's frankly because the price difference from Amazon's price wasn't worth it. For a few cents more, I can use my Prime account and receive it in two days rather than waiting however long Fry's economy shipping takes.

Now to debate if the movie is worth buying or renting.

So yeah. Hit up Best Buy, 2 Targets, and Walmart. Couldn't price match at any of them. Not a waste entirely since I was going out anyways and looking for things to do and they are all in my general area. But yeah. No one had ever heard of Fry's and some even told me specifically that it had to be a store in the general area. So I don't think I'm ever going to try and price match an out of state store's prices ever again.

I had a local BB supervisor try and deny one of my orders and then had the gaul to make things up and accuse me of making certain statements. He winked at me and then laughed about it until we brought a manager over who verrified the deal with the off duty manager that had agreed to the deal, once the item was in stock. So what happened to that supervisor after I filed a complaint with corporate? He was demoted.

I have no problem pricematching + coupon @ 2 Targets. Bought Apollo 13 for $2.99 + tax! One of my Best Buy gave me too much hassle ever since they become strict when it come to pm & coupon sigh. I still need to buy "9" somewhere else beside Best Buy, Frys, & Target.

The question is, are you in an area that has a frys? I would be interested in hearing from someone else other than the other person in this thread that was able to PM when it isn't in their area.

Yes I have 2 Frys (Burbank & Woodland Hills) here in L.A. Area.

I used to pm Fry's like a mofo years ago!!! The closest one is maybe 15-20 miles away from me. I used to PM games at TRU, then I was price matching at CC they would usually let me get away with it. But BB was always the biggest pain in the ass. I've literally stopped going to BB unless there's a really good deal, freebies, or penny guides.

I use to get all my Fry's pricematching done at a Wal-Mart till they started pulling the whole "Fry's is too far away from this location to be considered competition" line.
No, actually they do NOT pricematch amazon. I have tried before
It is up to the manager. They do, indeed, pricematch Amazon. I was browsing on one of their display computers, looking for reviews of a set of headphones I saw on the floor at BB. A manager walked up and asked me, "Do you need help with anything?" I told him I was reading reviews, and he said, "You know, we can pricematch if Amazon has a better deal." I scrolled up and the headphones were SIXTY DOLLARS CHEAPER on Amazon. I said, "Would you pricematch this?" and he responded, "Sure!"

I watched him perform the pricematch, and saw Amazon listed as one of the competitors in the "pricematching" submenu in their POS. The headphones were the highest-end version of the in-ear BackBeats. This was six months ago.

Pricematching ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. There are no absolutes here. You CAN pricematch Fry's website. You CAN pricematch Amazon. Whether or not you succeed is up to the manager you ask and the evidence you present them with regards to the sale. So it didn't work for you. That does not mean it never works. That means it did not work for you that one time.

I am sorry to see that so many of you so consistently have bad luck (read: luck) getting things pricematched.

I just PM'ed at Best Buy 9, Leon: The Professional, and Dogma.

Demonchylde got 9, the 5th Element, and Casino Royale.

I would have gotten Appaloosa but they didn't have it, and wouldn't PM the website for The Rundown or Drag Me to Hell, which are the two "San Jose only" ones I want, but I figure Fry's 25th Anniversary sale will be going on until July or so, so no doubt they will eventually have them advertised down here. Already have all the rest that I want.

Watchmen Director's Cut and 300 are a steal at this price, although if you can get your hands on Watchmen Ultimate Edition, that is really the way to watch the movie. There are also cheap as hell copies of Watchmen: The End Is Nigh on PS3 all over, which I believe comes with the Director's Cut of the movie on Blu.

Just came back from Best Buy. Pricematched all blu's for me no problem.
Got 9, Watchmen:DC , Serenity and Apollo 13. :bouncy:

I'm so pissed off at Fry's.. Check out the email i wrote them Monday that explains what happen to me:

Message: I am writing this message to just to say how dissatisfied and
upset I am with the service I received at the Manhattan Beach store
today. On Friday I placed an order online for a in store pickup (order
S2428776). I was on my way out of town so I could not pick it up that
day. I had until today 5/17 to pick up. So I took time on my lunch break
today and drove down to pick up my order. And what a complete waste of
time and gas that was. The store did not even have my order ready, nor
did they have any idea what happen to it. They tried to get my order
from the current stock but pretty much %95 of my order was sold out.
They then tried to give me a rain check, which I feel is completely
unacceptable. This has to be some of the worse customer service/
business practices I have seen! Why would you even have an online order
with in store pick up option if you can even stand by it! I've order
many times with that feature from Best Buy and they have never been that
disorgani
zed. My order is always ready.Even when Circuit City was around they
would get it right. I ended up just walking out of the store in
frustration. You guys completely wasted my time today and did not offer
any type of accommodation for a mistake on your end. I can just imagine
what happen to my order. Probably some lucky coworker was able to
purchase it or the order was never put aside even though i did receive
the email confirmation that my order was ready to pick up. Horrible
customer service by your store. Guess I have to take my business to Best
Buy because I know they will and can get my order right.

I had the same thing happen to me. But, mine happened like this:

Old dude tries to find my order. Takes 25 minutes to come back with some of the movies he pulled from the floor. He says, "I have everything but Gran Torino." I said, "All right, can I get a raincheck for Gran Torino?" He says yes and grabs someone else. She stares at my vacantly. I ask for a raincheck. She agrees and creates it.

I get home, check my bag, and 9 is not there, nor was it charged to me. So I call in to get a raincheck set aside for 9 and to complain. She apologizes and says, "Well, actually there is an extra Gran Torino in the our Customer Relations office for whatever reason. I can set it aside for you." I accept this, but warn her I may not make it in until next week (the current day is last Friday) She says this is fine and says she is attaching my raincheck to 9 and for me to come over to the customer relations office.

I come in Tuesday and I go to the customer relations office. I speak to a woman who tells me to, no joke, stand in line so they can find my movie. So I do that. And then of course, the cashier can't find it. I inform him for some reason I was told to go stand in line despite the fact the previous woman from Friday night told me to go to the office. He runs back to her and speaks to her. He comes back and tells me Gran Torino is gone and the original woman from Friday would like to speak to me. This whole experience of standing in line and waiting for them not to find the movie takes about 30 minutes.

I speak to the woman. She apologizes profusely and says someone must have removed it from the office for whatever reason. I accept her apology and I am taken to print off a new raincheck for 9 and Gran Torino. I ask for the regional or district manager's contact information. They say after the raincheck, they will obtain this. They wind up giving me the card to the software department manager. I say, no, I wanted a regional manager. I do not know who is at fault, but I only have the facts of the situation and I want someone above it all to read it. Then, I am given a pamphlet which allows me to write to the president of Fry's. I will fill it out, but also be filling out a report to the BBB just in hopes that it gets to someone who cares about preventing this kind of screw up in the future (especially considering I've had botched in store pick up orders before)

I'm going to Target soon after I drop off packages @ the Post Office. Need to get 9 and other titles, maybe Leon: The Professional, already have the steelbook but want the English version though.
Yep, these were also added to the list from Sunday's paper.

damn too bad the website doesn't have Fifth Element for that price :whistle2:( they list it for $19.99 ditto with Hancock

Bought the last copy of 9, woot! When I head to the checkout, cashier couldn't unlock the security case. She ended up banging on the counter so fucking loud and told me to pick another one but this is the last one and it finally broke, lol!

The Manhattan Beach Fry's is always going to have questionable service and terrible selection due to everything being hoarded up super quick during special sales. I've never done store pick-up from them but I've always been apprehensive about it, knowing their reputation for bad service. I've overheard other people complaining about their service in the past a few times while standing in line. But BB's service is not so great either. I did in-store pick-up at the Lakewood Worst Buy before on a bunch of penny guides and I had a horrible experience. After I got the e-mail saying the order was ready to be picked up, I get down there and they don't even have all the guides I ordered, even though the e-mail said they were all waiting to be picked up. I asked the rep where the rest of the guides were and told her about the e-mail and she just says "Well, that's all there is". She doesn't even bother to go check their stock to see if they have any more. Then she has the nerve to ask me in a condescending tone, "Why do you need so many?" and I told her "I ordered guides for several different games, they're not for the same title" as if it was even her business. She had a real attitude problem and was extremely rude and unprofessional throughout. But then, afterwards, I go check their shelves and the rest of the guides that I ordered were there. They didn't even bother to set them aside for me. Even though it was just penny guides, they should have paid more attention to my order and they should have been more respectful to me. Needless to say, this experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Dude that really sucks. But I feel your pain. When I was going over to talk to the manager I only had 15min left to get back to work so I literally just walked out the store. As of today, I still have yet to hear anything. And the automatic email back said they would respond in 24-48 hrs. That time is up. SMH

For being in Manhattan Beach and that being a "nice' part of town, that store sure does suck. I've heard of other people having problems at that store. But honestly, I've never had one problem at BB. I use to do lots of in store pick up and the newer store in Compton and never once have I had problems. The girls there have always been pleasant and really nice. And my stuff was always ready.

Ummm....no. He's talking about the BB in Compton. And that part about getting pleasant service there is starting to break my stereotypical perception of that area.
