Frys should be liquidating their HD DVD stock any time now.

I went in to my local Frys Electronics today to see if they had anymore $39 Xbox HD DVD Players. According to the website they are sold out but the employee told me a different story.

In addition to the 15 players they had in the Game section, he told me they had another 50 in the stock room. He also told me that they had close to 200 sealed copies of Heroes and Battlestar Galactica in stock that were not moving as well as over 1000 HD DVD's in general.

Needless to say the Xbox player and the copies of Eyes Wide Shut (Unrated) and Zodiac Director's Cut were worth the trip, but the best part was when he told me to expect a firesale coming up extremely soon.

i bought the HD-DVD add on for my 360 on their "black Saturday" sale for $28, bought Heroes Season 1 for $10, they had like at least 30 copies in display and maybe 30 more in boxed on the bottom shelf

the Fry's in Houston off 59 still have a crap load, some of them are already marked $4 like Scary Movie 4 and Black Xmas, both of which I'll pass

Last time I checked at frys in San Diego, they didnt have any hd dvds I was interested in buying except maybe Mallrats (cant remember if they still had it, I saw it at previous trips to the store). At $4-5 I'd buy it. Too bad they don't carry Hot Fuzz. Other than the 360 add on, I didn't see any players.

The only thing that would surprise me about Fry's liquidating their HD DVD stock is what took them so long. I remember earlier this year seeing how they had 3000 or so discs. They've managed to sell them over the last 6 or so months but even now they still have a lot of discs, and a lot of copies of the same, crummy movies.

I'm surprised SD doesn't have them... All the ones here in SoCal I hit up- Fountain Valley, Anaheim and Industry are to the brim and they do move a few, and I probably move an equal amount in and out on a monthly basis. (I seem to buy duplicates more often then i should). I know they use to have Hot Fuzz up here.. have to look see if that one is 'gone' or not...

I figure Frys will run it through the end of this year, and probably when they do their january inventory clearance sale is when we will see major price droppage.
I just don't see why someone would want to buy an extra just to sell it for profit. It is somthing that I have yet to do and don't ever plan on doing. If I did end up with an extra I would end up selling it just for cost.
To offset costs. I mean, I don't usually do it, because after fees and dealing with moron buyers, it isn't worth it. But it can sometimes work out, if the deal is really good.
Post office lines are terrible. They're usually understaffed and many of the customers have no clue what they want to do when they get to the front of the line, so there's a back-and-forth that's like five times longer than the actual transaction.
Disgustingly understaffed is more like it. For instance, when I was there on the Tuesday after Columbus Day, it was packed, and you had the one poor lady dealing with it. I mean, come on...you didn't see this coming? There was nothing you could do to offset this problem? The woman who works there usually is quite efficient, so there is no way I put it on her shoulders. There were simply too many people for her to deal with. Get someone else out there. Simple.

And yes, one of the biggest issues is that most people simply cannot function in the world...period. I mean, fill out the address and stuff before you get there. It isn't that hard.
