When Rose is talking about King Kong and Godzilla, this mirrors Snake and Raiden.
Snake is Godzilla, a hardened, supposed "killing machine" created unnaturally. He is rather misunderstood, and feels he must maintain this tough guy image. He is experienced and is feared by Metal Gears everywhere
Raiden is King Kong, a slightly softer human being, with a love in his life. He has this infatuation with Rose, which is used to play him for a fool, and get him to do things he protests to. "Jack, I think the Colonel is right" etc. He is also a nuisance or a monster to the Patriots, with injecting the virus into the AI of Arsenal, screwing their plans up. "Our beloved monsters, enjoy yourselves!" He is always trying to reach the top of "The Empire State Building" but eventually falls, and has no sense of reality or truth. He gets double-crossed and lied to so many times that his sense of right and wrong has been diminished into a "sea of garbage" and "convenient half truths" He then decides to purge his old feelings and life and decide to make "a new name for himself, new memories" This is the point where he throws away the dog tags, symbolizing the lies and deceit that have appeared around him and start over, "a clean slate."
