Future of the Nintendo 3DS now up in the air

When do you think that reviews should be published? A year later? People want to see reviews as soon as possible. Maybe I'm just not understanding what you are trying to say, though.

P.S. now that the slidecage has declared that the Vita has a 50% to 70% chance to survive, we can all breath a sigh of relief. By the way, there's a 99% chance that I won't puke today. If I do, at least I can rest comfortably in the knowledge that I wasn't wrong, just in the 1%.
Well its the first time Nintendo has had any kinda of trouble with a handheld, they don't understand why its not printing money.
Didn't the DS have the same problem until the DS Lite was released? I think the first year of any console or handheld is going to be rough after the initial launch. Publishers/developers are rushing to meet launch (or the "launch window" which is a bullshit term) and then there isn't going to be anything for a while until they can get their arms around the technology a little better.

I don't know - I have faith that Nintendo will right the ship and not do anything drastic (although the price cut kind of seems drastic already). I do think they have some issues to think about though...

No, I think these review sites only review the console once and that is at launch. They should do an annual review of a console, seeing how it improved over the last year, why you should care or not care about it, etc. I'm not talking about game reviews, if that's what you thought I was talking about, as those should be reviewed ASAP and maybe with a follow-up re-review if there were significant improvements. This is how I feel reviews should be at least, because consoles and games do get improved by the developers.

Nintendo built up way too much hype for the 3DS, especially regarding their software. Many people were hoping that the games they showed off at E3 2010 would either release along with the 3DS or be launch window games. For me in particular, I'm looking forward to Animal Crossing 3DS and Paper Mario 3DS the most. Now I have to look forward to Luigi's Mansion 2 and Super Smash Bros 3D, as well, but still no release date or an estimate of when it may come out. Hopefully we'll get one before the next E3 for some of those promised titles, but who knows what will happen.

All the good games seem to be coming out for the regular DS, Professor Layton, DQ, etc. I am also looking forward to that fossil fighters game that was announced at e3. Doesn't give people much incentive to buy a 3DS when all the good games are coming out for a system that they already have. One thing is for sure its the prime time to own a DS right now, if you haven't gone out and bought one yet do it now!

(I personally don't care for professor layton games, but apparently a lot of other people do, so I am definitely lumping them in the "good games" category).

I still don't think the 3DS has been given a fair shot at the market, this is the slowest time of year for game sales, people are waiting for the holidays to buy stuff because its not that much farther away. The 3DS is not a virtual boy, it had more games at launch than the virtual boy had in its whole game lineup. Its just too similar to the regular DS for people to go out and buy it right away.

I just got a DS Lite about a month ago.(Too late to the party?) What games should i start with? I have yi-gi-oh 2010, pokemon darkness, where the wild things are, disney christmas carol,Kingdom hearts 258/2,Moon...all from target/best buy clearance) I was thinking of getting Lunar Knights, but i never played Botkai the sun is in your hand. Is Lunar a thumbs up or thumbs down for $15?

The reason why its been too long because I got the PSP when it was first released. Great, but same old games (FPS) and was missing the 2nd stick.
Im upset that sony abandon the UMD format.

The world ends with you
Final Fantasy (any of them)
Professor Layton
Phoenix Wright
Dragon Quest Monsters
Dragon Quest
Golden Sun

Are just a few of the game series you should look into. Save the Christmas carol game for the month of December, its pretty good, I had a copy. Keep in mind I have listed game series so you will have to pick which ones out of the series you want to play. There are many other good games other than those listed.

I would get lunar knights, but you can get the Boktai games at gamestop right now, they are having a sale on GBA games. The DS Lite can play GBA games. So I would go to gamestop and try to find those games, they had them at my GS stores for 4.99 each before discounts. You can also pick up some of the other GBA games you might have missed during this sale.

Don't feel bad about being late to the party either, I never had an original Xbox or an Xbox 360, so I am getting the 360 this holiday season. The problem is I have to sift through the library of 2 systems now to decide what I want to play on them!!!
