Futureshop/BestBuy's first week discounts pattern?

Hoonose

CAGiversary!
I always notice, that some games are discounted the first week of release at FS/BB, but some aren't. Is there any pattern to these discounts? Like, are big name games usually discounted first week, but smaller ones aren't?

More specifically, do you think RE4 Wii will be? :p

A lot of big name games are. I think RE4 might not be because it's already a budget title. If so, will EB match it for pre-orders? I had a pre-order on Pokemon Pearl I got by trading WarioWare: Smooth Moves ($38 TIV at the time) in. Because of Best Buy's deal I moved the pre-order to RE4.

I'm praying that it's going to be on sale for $30, but if not, I'm probably gonna crack and get it anyways.

I remember TrionCube for the DS being $19.99 in Futureshop. That's $10 off its regular retail price when it was initially released. TrionCube isn't exactly big name either.

It feels like it's just big name releases, and that's probably to get you to come in instead of going to EB or somewhere else.

What's strange is that this week BB is doing 5 bucks off last week's new stuff. Oh well.
