fwacce is a troll and I am so damn tired of it
I resent NYC because people not from New York(or the US) tend to forget its a shaq-fuing state and there is stuff other than a city there. As far as it being the best city, thats just personal prefrence, I was never to thrilled with NYC, but thats probaly because I just don't like big citys in general. I wouldnt say its worse than other big citys and sure it is better than some too, but the best? That's just an opinion.
Sorry spooky , but anything above westchest just isn’t really New York. Albany is a ghost town, Rodchester is a drug town..and then there’s buffalo....Canada is stinking closer than that.

Its not like NYC dosn't have its issues either, and whats so bad about syracuse, just curious to your criticism, i'm not in love with it myself but its way better than some places i've been to.

When I go elsewhere and people ask where I am from I say " New York". I am then asked if I mean New York City because in the minds of everyone else New York is New York City. I don't say I am from New York City because unless I qualify New York with some other town it must always mean New York City.

And there is no preference involved in declaring NYC the best city in the world.

This is the center of the universe.

I dont know that much about syracuse...the whole problem with upstate new york is that its so far and out of touch with the rest of the lower part of the state. All the action is down low. Going upstate is like going down south.... its just a tad bit slower than the city life.

I was born in Manhattan, but raised in CA from the age of 10. I am a Californian to the bone. The only thing I have that is remotely connected to NYC is my puertorican family, the way I pronounce coffee, and the NY Mets. (Oh, and add MM 1.0 to that list.)

I'm glad I didn't grow up there. I would have become a very different person. Of course, that's assuming I would have made it out alive to begin with.

It is way slower, I wouldn't relate it to the south though... I really really don't like the south, but mabye its because the only place I go to is myrtle beach which is like the cheesiest place on earth.

Upstate NY is just like the rest of rural america and has very little in the way of culture.

I lived upstate NY as a kid and visit up there from time to time. You could be in Ohio or North Carolina..the people, landscape, and businesses are about the same. Is there really a difference anymore from one small town in america to the next? I just see strip malls and mega malls all with the exact same stores inside. Restaurant choices usually include Outback, a Denny's, and TGIF's. You ain't missing much by living in these places. In NYC from one day to the next is an adventure. Even if you don't exactly like the adventure at least you aren't ever bored.

Don't forget the Olive Garden, or Red Lobster if you have something special to celebrate.

Which is exactly why I'm moving back to NYC as soon as I can.

NYC maybe the best city in some people's opinion, but Manhattan smells like someone went and painted the town yellow during the summer(this was like 3 summer's ago).

And Defender is right, if someone came to my business and wanted to spend a lot of money I would tolorate them and their attidude because they have the option to take their money elsewhere. It is places like the highway and school where the attidude carries over that fustrates me.

I personally don't mind people from New York (my parent's are from NJ but lived for 20 years in TX before moving to Nc). Its when people flaunt it and try to make themselves seem superior because they are from Ny is where I have a problem. They come down here and act like they own the place just because they got money.
Yeah well I think that's what this guy assumed about me too...but truthfully. I did own the place...I had $3000 in my pocket to spend. If someone came in my store to spend 3 grand I would close the store and do a jig on the counter for the guy. It would have taken about 1 1/2 hours to spend that money. This little pissant decided that he didnt like some NYer who had more money than him. It really is all about jealousy. Many people hate NYers not because we are arrogant but because we have the right to be arrogant. If you lived in NY for 5 years you would realize that you live in the BEST city in the WORLD! I find that the people who have a problem with that A)Have never been to NYC B)Have a racial problem or C)Dont know anyone from NY

I am a proud NYer. My favorite shirt to wear when I am out of town is my official NYPD shirt. I buy them at actual police equipment stores.
Pissant is my favorite noun. You should'nt really stereotype when it comes to what people think about New Yorkers. Many people could care less myself included if you come from New York or not . What it really boils down to for me is whether you're a dick or not a dick. Don't take this out of context . I don't mean you personally
Other than the Pistons, Red WIngs and Eminem (IMO), Detroit sucks. If i didnt have a billion bills to pay, my plans for a trip to NY would probably lead to me leaving MI finally...for good.
I can't believe you're even saying that. Oakland county, per capita, is one of the weathiest places on earth, and has almost all of the benefits any large city could provide with the massive houses and yards that only a suburb could provide. It's like the best of both worlds.. not to mention that you're only about an hour away from any of the really good stuff in Detroit.

I'd be more apt to believe you if you were up north, or around Flint, but being able to live in one of the wealthier suburbs (Macomb or Oakland Counties), have all of the benefits that come from that an having Detroit near by is unbelievably great. If it wasn't why would the housing costs in Oakland county and the burgeoning parts of Macomb county be completely out of line with the rest of the state?

I've been to both coasts, I like New York better. I live in chicago, New york is bigger chicago to me. San Fran and Oakland was cool just too damn expensive. New York slightly less expensive than San fran. new York is just huge and fun with porn everywhere and when i was there In Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn I come across no assholes (besides family) the whole trip.

Back to the point this topic, Maybe you are his idol, Defender and the comments he's making are his cries for your attention. Hmmm??

Oakland county is one of the top 10 richest counties in the US. And frankly im sick of it. I've lived here my entire life...and have barely traveled either. My GF was born in England, moved to California, and somehow tripped and landed in MI. Hearing everthing thats out there, i get kinda depressed. Detroit (actual city) sucks. there is NOTHING SPECIAL TO DO. Hell, the Second City (available in other states) is actually moving into Novi so i dont even have to go to Detroit for that. Thats another thing, and i know this happens everywhere, but the entire landscape that i knew is changed. 90% has gone from lush trees to houses starting in the high 200's. I just want out i guess.

i'm not entirely sure as to what makes living around here so much worse than living somewhere else. what do you want to do that's so special?
