FYE backstage pass - 20% off the day you sign up

I just thought I'd share my experience at FYE over the weekend. If it's true for anyone else, it has lots of possibilities for deals, as long as you can handle what a pain FYE is to shop at.

I saw they had Rock Band for the 360 and went in to check it out. I asked the price, $199. Typical FYE crap.

But then they mentioned there was a $30 rebate and the kicker ...

It seems FYE is changing their backstage pass program from $25 for a year to $10 for 3 months. In addition, they are giving 20% off on the day you sign up. So I did the math quickly and it added up. In the end, I got Rock Band for $162 (they did 10% and then another 10% off), with a $30 rebate, which in the end should be $132. Better yet, he forgot charge me the $10 for the backstage pass.

This also means, in the grand scheme of things, it is worth signing up for it if you are ever buying more than $50 worth of stuff. As always with FYE and their ridiculousness, YMMV greatly.

This would be great if you can use it on a PS3 or a 360. Thanks for the heads up, maybe I'll give it a go sometime.

Pretty good deal if you want a new release or an expensive item. I got a FYE backstage pass last year, and never used it after the first time I got it, so I will have to pass on this.

They do explicitly say that the discounts do not apply on game systems and I think iPod's. Not much else is excluded though, but yeah, big ticket items are the way to go with this ... or something with a pretty big rebate too.

(and my experience with this deal was as a video game deal ... it just isn't limited to that.)
