FYE - Trade 2 Get 1 Used 19.99 Game; Buy 2 Get 1 Used Game Half Off
All FYEs are running buy 2 used games get 1 half off.

ALSO:

The last store I went to in had tons of signs up for two used get one used game at 19.99 and under. :bouncy:

Haven't had a chance to verify if this is at other stores. Anyone else seen this promos?
FYE's prices are usually very high, so this is just a so-so deal. Of course you will run into the rare gem that sometimes makes it worthwhile buying from them.

They're also having a Buy 3 DVDs, Get one free sale. I got i, Robot for free after buying two of the LOTR movies and a hitler movie. I know this isn't the proper forum, But I figured i'd post this anyway, For those that don't go to the DVD forum.

The one near me (Arundel Mills, MD) has a fair selection of older stuff. Funny thing is, lots of the 'used' games are really new one's with 'used' stickers on them. I got a brand new copy of Viewtiful Joe 2 for $7.99 this way.

Yeah, I don't quite understand their thinking. I got a used copy of Gun (psp) from them recently. It was obviously brand new from the factory with their 'used' sticker on it.

Ive seen that ALOT when Media Play was still around. Either the game was still sealed with some inflicted "damage" on the cover or it was open with some small punctures on the cover. I looked around and most of the newer 'used' ones had all the same marks in the same areas. I got the XBOX GTA double pack sealed in the used section back when for 12 bucks.

The real deal here is with the trade 2 get 1 because gamestop/eb is having b2g1 on xbox games. i traded 8 4 dollar games yesterday for 80 dollars in credit.

if anyone can confirm this is going on elsewhere please do so.

Wow - What deal is the Trade 2 get 1 deal? What $4 games got you that much credit?
Or, are you saying they gave you credit instead of the games? The FYE's I have been insist on you getting the $19.99 game. They will not give credit.

Matthew

Just got back from Wherehouse (same company as FYE). They are indeed running Buy 2, Get 1 half off on all USED games. Also, they are running a promotion for trade 2 games, get a 19.99 and under game (used) free.

I bought Baldur's Gate 2: Dark Alliance, Champions: Return to Arms, and Ultimate Spiderman: Limited Edition, all for $40.xx. Will sell BG2 on ebay and break even.
Ugh, I already have $600 in FYE credit...
Wait til they get in a Wii or some other big ticket item (not a PS3 though) and then sell it for near cost. Turn that credit into cash without paying over MSRP prices.

No offense but that's nothing to drool at. B2G1F is good, B2G1HO is BS. Thanks for posting though! :applause:

^^ It used to be very easy to get tons of FYE credit. Buy certain games from $3 - $5 at EB or TRU that traded in for $18 - $27 at FYE. Examples Sneakers, $2 at TRU traded in for $27 at FYE, Motor Trend Lotus Challenge $3 at EB traded in for $27 at FYE. Buy multiply copies and trade in the same batch of games from store to store. I had hundreds of dollars of credit from those type of deals.

If there are no exclusions, trade 2 get 1 game for under $19.99 is hot. You could buy 2 $0.99 used sports games at EB and pick up a used $19.99 game at FYE with them

unfortunately, it is posted that they won't accept sports games before 2007.

whoever buys in your games may or may not reject them based on scratches to the disc, presence/absence of instructions.

this deal is super hot when combined with the b2g1 at ebgames on their cheap xbox games and the fact that if you return the games you buy they will actually give you store credit.

That sucks, I guess it could still work on non sport cheap games like Powerdrome (if there is a FYE that isn't overstocked with them yet)

I'm surprised more people haven't posted. You can get some GREAT deals with this promo. For instance, I traded in 2 extremely low value games (Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee for Xbox and Eyetoy Grrove for PS2) and ended up with a mint copy of Kirby Canvas Curse. I'd love to hear what other people are finding. Also, as an FYI, FYE's used prices on PS3 games are pretty decent, much better than EB. $39.99 for many games including Ridge Racer 7.

They're trade in prices aren't that great, but they do run deals like this that are pretty good. They have really cheap 360 and PS3 used prices. Usually 39.99 and 44.99 for games that just came out. They also have BRAND NEW Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies that someone traded in and they mark them as used at the Paramus, NJ store on RT.4 passed the TRU. I got X-MEN 3 on Blu-Ray for $15.00 SEALED!

Wait, so ANY games that aren't sports before 2007 work for this? This is huge!

EDIT: Anybody know when this ends?

I would be all over the trade in deal, unfortunately it doesn't apply to the NYC store. Apparently they received a memo awhile back to take down all used games and not allow trade ins, totally sucks as I wanted to unload some of my older xbox titles.

What is the trick to trading these in for the more expensive titles? They would not give me a gift receipt... The transaction takes place on one receipt...

i agree, this is no deal unfortunately. if fye is the only place u can get games used then it might be a good one afterall.

Ok, I don't understand either of the previous posters.

Smaag - You can only trade in games that have a value of $19.99 or higher? Or, you can only use that trade-in to purchase a game that is $19.99 or higher?

phear - Why not? If you are spending $4 per game ($8 total), and getting $19.99 worth in exchange, that seems to be a big profit. What am I missing?

Matthew

you can trade in two very low value games, get one for 19.99. return it later for store credit. rinse and repeat. i've got over 180 in credit now from $50 in games purchased from the eb/gs b2g1 on xbox games. credit is probably going towards a 360.

In theory that's a good idea but it doesn't work well, because any game you get at FYE that's $19.99 or less will not get you good trade-in value when you go to flip it.

Clarification:

I tried to trade in Turok XB and Trigger Man PS2 for the Trade 2 Get 1 but I was told by the manager that the terms of the deal say that only games that are sold by FYE at 19.99 and higher are eligible to be traded in for this deal.

In essence you have to trade two 19.99 games to get 1.

no...you return it, not trade it. you get the full 19.99 you "paid" for the game back in the form of credit.

how long is this deal going on for? FYe usually has crap I'm suprised they even got Rogue Galaxy at mine's....

These are the games that I traded in at my FYE:

PS2 - Jedi Starfighter
PS2 - Starsky & Hutch
PS2 - Commandos 2
Cube - Bloody Roar

And I got:

Cube - Resident Evil 2
PS2 - Rugby 06

I went in with 5 games about none worked, I thought the minium would be lower but the dude said it had to be a minium of 4 dollars on each game...

btw the games that didn't quality were

Xbox
Brute Force
PGR 2

PS2
Rebel Raiders
Suzuki (moto game)
DT Racer

I'm pretty much done doing this deal...but here are the results:

27 xbox games purchased at the b2g1 free at eb games, for about 72 dollars using the edge card.

traded in 26 for 260 worth of games.

returned those games for 200 in store credit, and had $60 put back on a credit card (the manager had his head up his butt on that one).

picked up 4 wiimotes (they had 8!), 3 to keep 1 to sell, jurassic park operation genesis (new xbox), fatal frame ii (used xbox) and tetris worlds (new ps2). used the backstage pass for these games/wiimotes.

pretty good haul if you ask me!

bg2001 - I have only done 16 games - trading them in for credit.

Maybe I should make another run... But I doubt I have the time.

Matthew

In my experience with FYE, everything is a complete YMMV and differs according to every store, and even employee. I've done this three times with about 6 games each time.
The first at store 1 I was given $10 credit for each game, but not the sports games, toward whatever used games I wanted.
The second at store 2, I was given $10 for each game including my ESPN 2k5 games, towards whatever used games I wanted.
The third, back at store 1, I was paid $1 for each game I traded in and the $20 games were zeroed out and given to me. I didn't even get a receipt for that one.

Such a strange and horrifically led company.

FYI for everyone, they also have some iPod rebates going on right now ($50 for 80 GB, $30 for 8 GB nano). I know that their rebates aren't the most reliable, but I've had good success with them in the past, and when its cash back for my credit, its worth it. Thats what I'm doing this flipping for.

I tried to do this deal. I went to EB and bought some $3 games, Then went to trade them in. The manager said that I couldn't do it because I had to trade in two for the same system that the game that I want is on. But then maybe she said that because she knew that I bought them at EB for $3 each.

So I returned the games to EB and got my cash back.

If you read one of the flyers for the sale, It says in the fine print that the manager should be OK with the trade!

yea so basically heres what happened i go in with the six games i got for $11 and i pick out 3 games worth 19.99. He takes my disks then says he cant take two of em because they have some minor scratching and he cant take the third because its a promo disk apparently. So basically i am so fed up at this point that he wont accept most of my disks and i just trade in two of em for a used copy of kameo and a third for like $2. So all in all totally not worth it. Of course if the manager your dealing with isnt such a dick it may work for you however.

All FYE locations in NY are very difficult to deal with. They will not take any discs with a single scratch, and often times will outright refuse to take any trade ins at all. I simply only do it when I have to.
