I'm looking to by an R4 off of Gadget-Asia.com

Which first of all, is it a legit site? Would it be smart to order and R4 from there?

Also, does anyone have any coupons for my order?

2GB Micro SD with an R4.

Hey I ordered from gadget-asia before. They pretty much got the best price around. Got my R4 in a week with the free shipping option.

Although this response is to an older post I wanted to give you guys a heads up. I recently purchased a DS Lite bundle from Gadget-Asia after they answered all of my questions regarding the system I was purchasing. When I received the system, I noticed slight discoloration of the box and no serial number on the box. Which already indicated something was a miss. I checked the system serial number which was for a "U.S" version DS Lite. So, ok here we have a system released exclusively for Japan with a U.S serial number.

I contact Gadet-Asia and explain that their item specifically states this is a Nintendo DS Lite in stock NIB from Japan, (mind you there are tons of stock room pictures shown to ensure the customer feels at ease with their purchase), I explain that the system I received has a serial number which does not correspond to the region it was released in. I then ask for an explanation and waited for a repsonse....and waited...and waited.

Now I'm tried of waiting and contact Nintendo for clarification. Nintendo of course responds quickly and professionally (I just love their customer service). While Nintendo does not promote "grey market" systems (Systems sold in regions they are not intended for), they were gracious enough to confirm that the system which I purchased had a serial number which did not coincide with the version released in Japan and that they therefore believed I had purchased a counterfeit system. They also made sure they thanked me and forwarded the information to their Legal Department.

With this information in hand I went to PayPal and filed a claim, I also e-mailed Gadget-Asia informing them that I was aware that the system sent was not legit In hopes of, I don't maybe they believed to have legit systems and somehow they accidently received a bogus system in their shipment from a dealer (yes grasping at straws here), them rectifying the situation. I have not heard from them and am currently waiting...

In the mean time I'm out cash, and have a counterfeit system sitting on my desk, ahh the joys of importing . I'll let you know if I ever get my cash back (one can dream can't one?)

After all this time I finally got a refund ... but got stiffed for the return postage *argh* well guess losing $25 is better than $300 LOL -- The end to this drama, good ridence

Get the package within 5 days. Order from their eBay store. The serial issue is to avoid being blocked in customs. The console looks perfect and brand new, should notice as it clearly stated import from Asia. Fair to give them a try,.

While they did have "Fast shipping", their customer service responses were slow, I mean really 2 months to get an issue resolved is excessive. 2nd While the serial number may be for custom purposes, Nintendo did not acknowledge the item as a release by them in Japan, for collectors of Nintendo Consoles this is a big deal. Lastly, the cartridges were not originals, and as some of us who've been dupped by fake cartridges can tell you the gameplay sometimes get's corrupt.

Just a few things to keep in mind, I don't know if their other systems are authentic or not I only know what my experience with them was with them.

Cheers!

Sorry to hear about your predicament, Brossia, but....$300?? That's all I can say. Doesn't a DS lite cost like...$129.99?

Yea, which version DS Lite did you get? I got "It's a Wonderful World DS Lite" and it only cost me $264.50. Did you get a Final Fantasy DS or something?

Also, their R4 prices are just horrid. You can get them half price from more reliable sources.

Yes, it was the Bape edition which was limited to 500 pieces from a designer store in Japan... need less to say I've since changed my mind and decided not to bother getting one after all.

Brosia, the same thing happened to me, but just yesterday I got my item, which was suppose to be a LE yellow pikachu DS, but when I received it, saw immediately that it is a fake, a mere case that they probably put together, though the DS does work. I am very dissapointed, and I'm not sure what to do besides contact them ( They have yet responded). I DID open the DS, so I don't know if they are willing to take it back. Do you have any suggestions in which will help me have a better chance at getting my 220 dollars back?http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/08/02/limited-edition-pikachu-ds-lite-found-in-the-wild/

I keep hearing the same thing about Gadget Asia, the truth be known if you are looking for an "Original" DS Lite Special Edition system DON'T go to Gadget Asia because you certainly will be getting a fake knock off. Gadget Asia claims to have no knowledge of the systems being fake, they say their merchandise comes from a third party vendor. UMmmm DUH you get tons of complaints telling you the systems are fake Gadget Asia, how can you profess to not have knowledge of what is going on with your supposedly third party vendor! SHAME ON YOU GADGET ASIA!. This is a shady business practice and I would not recommend Gadget Asia if it were the last Video Game System Store in the world!

No I'm not bitter, ffs ... Ok now that I got that out of my system, I'm sorry you had to go through the same experience you should keep contacting Gadget Asia, I would e-mail Gadget-Asia's Senior Sales Manager directly at [email protected].

Be persistent, it took me a while to get it resolved but eventually I did get my money back and returned the POS they sent :) Just remember when returning the item to have some type of tracking so they don't screw you twice ! Good Luck!

I can't believe I missed this post... .ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Yigio, #1 serial number keeping them from being blocked in customs ...gimme a break! I get tons of items sent from Japan and this is the only store that screws with the serial numbers, i.e that's because they're charging 2x as much for special edition systems that are moded with fake cases (at most 10 bucks for each case and you're paying an extra $xxx for it ffs) they're making a killing and claiming not to have knowledge of it. #2 if your system ever flakes out guess what Nintendo won't repair it, so you can just trash it.

I don't know about you but my money don't come easy, and if I pay good money for a legit system I expect to get what I paid for. You're entitled to your belief but I'm sticking to my guns on this, if you don't care about your money or legitamacy of your system then go ahead give Gadget Asia your business. I'll avoid them like the plague and so should anyone else who does'nt want to deal with the counterfeit game system business.
