You'll have to shoot it down, In other words, destroy it so that you can not merge with it.
 
Biggest XBLA ripoff to date IMO. No online play, "evolved" mode, no Galaxian, etc... Basically you are getting a single game off Namco Museum for $5. Poor.

I agree. Galaga is probably my favorite game of all time. I have played the arcade version thousands of times, and this version plays identical to the arcade version. I think people who think it is lagging don't realize that you fire in two shot bursts and then it takes a second to fire again. Like someone said, there are arcade machines programmed to have rapid fire, but that is not how it was originally meant to be played.
