Game collections and GameStop cases

I have a delema, I am anal about having games with cases and manuals

So I have the games I get from GameStop seperated like pretty much hidden that I forget I own them

they are usually games like PS2 or original Xbox that were like $3 tops

but I want to know how others intergrate these games into there collections, because on the collection threads I never see any used games like that

Take the stickers off? They are quite easy to take off as long as they aren't a hundred years old. I've taken them off of most cases/cover arts pretty easily and without damage. You could always buy the cover art at videogameinstructionbooklets.com if you want to.

It really depends on the game you are looking at. If it's something of value that you found in the lower priced bins that were disc only, as many have already suggested,

is actually a great place to find replacements for your games that don't have covers.

I would suggest buying during their big sales however since if the games aren't really worth it, then it may not be worth your time to even purchase the covers for them. But if you have one or two that you want to replace badly and you can justify the replacement of it, I say still wait for a good sale and then order the less desired covers along with the ones that you really want to save on shipping and so on.

The covers/manuals really are in fantastic condition when it arrives from them, so it could be worth your time if you go that route. Otherwise, I just don't even buy those games from Gamestop, because I am the exact same way with games. Complete or nothing.

When do they typically have sales? I'm in the market for a case/cover/manual, but their $5 shipping kind of kills the deal.

Recently they've been running sales like every 2-3 months, so it's pretty often.

Have you signed up for their newsletter or anything? They always send emails when there are sales going on, so that may be a good idea if you're in the market.

Just signed up- bought from these guys in the past, but didn't know about the sales- hopefully I can plug a few more gaps in my collection.

To answer your question- I don't buy games without the case/manual from Gamestop. I usually don't buy them unless I'm happy with the case quality too. I prefer complete games, and the price difference for an incomplete game just isn't worth it. Actually, I don't think I've bought an incomplete game since the first Game Crazy $5 classic plastic sale way back when (becuase, let's face it, passing on a $5 Suikoden 2 becuase it's disc-only would be very stupid.)

I refuse to buy games from Gamestop that are disc only. If I see something I want, and they only have the generic cases, then I walk away and search for it elsewhere. I can live without an instruction manual, but it's gotta come with the correct case/artwork if it's going in my collection.

You can always get a proper case for it and print off artwork from www.thecoverproject.net

I've found the easiest way of doing this is to buy a complete version and sell off the disc-onlys; buying and selling according to market fluctuations of course. I upgraded both my Okami for ps2 and my Vandal Hearts for peanuts. Going to yardsales and flea markets can be another source of cheap upgrades...

Trust me I am the same way. I hate buying from Gamestop but sometimes I want my games NOW rather than later(Amazon). When I wanted DQVIII I bought from Amazon because the cases are "NEW" and mine came MINT/NEW for $10 shipped(amazing condition, like opening the shrink wrap for the first time).

I just want some new PS2 cases to replace some of my beat up ones from Gamestop(I always try to buy the "best" condition copy of a game, no CD scratches etc")

The sticker's aren't to bad, but you can tell they are there if a sticker has been on the case for a long time and you peal it off. It's cleaner than the rest of it. I just hate they throw like 20 stickers(insert, back, side over the plastic bind, front). They also every time try to sell my wife "crappy discs". I saw the guy pull out multiple copies, and checked them and then popped one into the case. I asked to see it and its horribly scratched. I ask for the other copies and there is a new/mint looking disc. I swap discs and take it, wife thanked me for that one(Kingdom Hearts).

Maybe you should change what you are anal about. You could just decide that you ONLY want to collect games if they have the gamestop generic case. ;)

I've actually got quite a few spares for xbox (and gamecube). I bought a huge ebay lot a while back. The quality varies, but most should be alright. CML for some of them, or just message me a list. I'm willing to sell for shipping+a bit extra to clear out the house a bit.

I try never to buy generic cases from gamestop cause I like the artwork to look at me on my shelf. That went out the window at the Gamestop sale. I didn't care but most games were under $5 so it was all good. The only games that didn't have artwork were
Spectrobes for $2 and Two Worlds $3.49. Not worth buying the artwork but I searched CAG and now Im getting the artwork for it for just the shipping cost.

1. Try the CAG Trading Forum. There's a thread in the Master Section that deals with just artwork cases and manuals. Also lopts of CAGs sell of there spare cases for cheap.

2. Try thecoverartproject.net. They have DL pics to print off for most games but not all. A cheap solution to at least make games look good on your shelf instead of hiding them. They even have some for you GBA games that are cart only and make them fit in your collection.

3. Try online places like Amazon, eBay and videogameinstructionbooklets.com.

4. Request them on Goozex for full package. Complete your game and then trade back the disc only. You'll get a better case and all the artwork. All it cost is shipping + $1 trade token. I do it all the time.

Good Luck
