30 miles? that's nothing i've driven further than that to get games at a good deal. you're buying 2 and getting 1 free, worth the trip in my opinion. just call in advance for games you want and have them hold them for you.

Agreed. There isn't a Game Crazy within 100 miles of me now. And I'm willing to bet that they'll all be gone sometime in 2011.

Used game prices are close to what you'd find at GameStop, sometimes a dollar or two lower even.

This is true. Although I thought Scorch hinted this would be changing a while back.

Anyway, thanks for the post. I've been wondering what happened to GC. They had a bunch of good deals a while back with Prototype, Metroid Trilogy, etc but nothing in a while. Unless they closed too many stores for people here to even know, lol.

I actually bought the same games (Mass Effect 2 for Xbox 360, Heavy Rain and bioshock 2 for PS3). They were $44.95 each with the MVP so $90 for all 3 :) Also got Aliens Vs. Predator, White Knight Chronicle, and Dragon Age Origins. Good Times.
 
Just found out that the Hollywood Video store hosting the game crazy closest to my place is closing down. Swinging by probably tonight or tomorrow to check out what they have (who knows, they might be stacking the clearance prices with the B2G1 offer)

I was told the B2G1 does not stack with the liquidation discounts. Also MVP does not stack with B2G1 either.
 
There's also signage indicating that we'll be running this deal again in April, but no dates yet.

Liquidation discounts don't stack with anything. If the employee tries to use the MVP, it'll work, but technically, no, it's not supposed to stack.

The location near me (South Austin, TX) is closing down also and I went over there today hoping to find 3 decent used games. However, the clerk tells me they won't honor the deals going on in the regular stores and says they've already been bought out by some other company. Even worse, any game that was worth a damn was shipped to other stores. I guess I'll try the downtown Austin location tomorrow. :roll:
 
Just went by my closest GC in Moline, Ill. Had to drive about 35 miles, but I ended up getting Dante's Inferno and Mass Effect 2 for 360 and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time... Not to bad, after tax it was about 107.
 
Scorch can you provide any insight on how highly YMMV the matching of Gamestop's 50% trade in bonus is? Several people have mentioned their stores matching which is really helpful in connection with this B2G1 sale. Thanks.
 
my local store in waterloo, ia had a HORRIBLE selection!

Best game i found was Aliens vs predator but it was for ps3 and im looking for it on 360. Probably just gonna wait for gamestops b2g1 sale

I hear ya. GameCrazys in the upper mid-west are few and far between. I'm in Eau Claire, WI and there are 2 in the Twin Cities area (which is about 90 miles away) and the next closest one is Waterloo, Iowa - a svelte 163 miles away. According to their store locator, anyway.

Too bad they don't have online ordering. :(
 
Well I stopped by & picked up a couple things. All 360

Cod WaW $19.99
Lost Odyssey $19.99
Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 Free ($17.99)

And funny thing happened when I asked how much credit I had upon entering the store. The guy asked for my ID "because it's such a large amount." Just how large you ask? $74! Geeze, the guys at Gamestop never ask for an ID even though I have over $300. Thanks for protecting my credit, GC.

edit: Oh & I almost forgot to mention that they did stack MVP w/ the B2G1 free deal.
 
How are you guys getting the MVP to stack? I know most of the employees at the GC closest to me, & i know most of the guys pretty well. They're all fairly well versed in games & know me whenever i visit, but for the life of me they are never able to stack any promo with the mvp card!!!
 
Also stopped by my local one... They had closed up early because the registers were down... Also told me that they store will be closing... I think on friday they start the liquidation sale
 
I went to my local game crazy, they had nothing good in the used section. This was in Chicago. They did have a bunch of old guides mint condition and old collectors editions if any one is interested. As far as the store, everything was pretty much empty.
 
came back with some purchase and did not receive mvp stacked with b2g1 games. did they have to scan mvp or was it automatic if it did stack?
 
Just picked up: AVP, Bioshock 2, and Bayonetta.

The clerk said he wasn't supposed to stack the MVP with the B2G1 but he still did it because we were BSing about a bunch of stuff before I paid and I guess he thought I was cool. So they can do it if they really want to. He didn't have any problem with the computer when he did it.
 
Checked out a GC on my way home today and the store was sadly barren. no notice of it shutting down, mostly new games, and the hot games area was rocking a Too Human. They had a load of guides, none pennied, and a lot of LE games like AC1 for 360 for 29.99, SF4, Resistance 2. And no b2g1 either
 
I have a feeling that if I go to my nearest store (10 miles away, 20 in total), some workers don't even now about the promotion, or if the game I want is not available..... I have a terrible story with Game Crazy.
 
i went to my local gamecrazy and the employe said that the b2g1 was only if you had a mvp card and i dont have a mvp but he was real nice about it and gave me the b2g1 free deal anyway
 
got:

for a grand total of of $92.96 including tax & MVP. That comes up as $31 a game. Glad I didnt buy them new! :D
