I know it has been said before, long before -- but 2006 looks even more bleak for GCN than 2005. The last game that I was excited for was Resident Evil 4 --- that was awhile ago.

I am a big Nintendo honk, but this kind of lull is pretty amazing. The DS is great, but every once in awhile I would like a new non Mario themed game for GCN.

Yeah, things are really winding down on the GC front. Can only think of three games I plan to buy; Twilight Princess, Chibi Robo, and Baten Kaitos 2 (assuming it's released stateside).

I'm looking forward to Chibi Robo and Odama. I like my games quirky, and a real time strategy pinball game set in Feudal Japan controlled with bongos and a microphone sounds like my cup of tea. Seriously, I can't wait for it.

I'll probably end up using the Revolution for Zelda, so there's not much else I'm looking forward to on the Cuber.

Don't forget a new Kirby platformer is coming out in 06 (hopefully) and Nintendo's website lists a Naruto game for Q1.
We're going to get a much, much clearer picture of what's going on with GCN at TGS. Sit tight, because it's gonna be a good year.
personally i would be pretty happy with a zelda and a few other minor games since I already have a backlog, but i dunno how "good" the year is going to be besides a few scraps.
Are there that many great PS2 or XBox games this year?
It's looking like it's going to be a great year for the PS2, especially on the RPG side. There's definitely more coming out than I'll have time and money for.
Zelda's the only thing I'm really looking forward to on the GC, but that doesn't bother me.

Yeah, PS2 almost doesn't make sense. I'm trying to figure out who is going to be developing PS3 games when they have a seemingly full catalog of games releasing throughout 2006.

Other than Zelda and a bunch of $10 clearance games I wouldn't buy otherwise, 2006 is going to be a sad year for my cube...

dont forget Mega Man X Collection. This is probably a good thing since I got a huge backlog of games.

Thanks to TRU, 2006 is the year of the cube for me. I just got RE4, Zelda: 4S, Pikmin 2, Wario Ware Inc. and Mario Party 4 at the TRU sale for $10 each. When Paper Mario drops to $20 retail I'll pick up a used copy. Add in Zelda: TP and I'll definitely be playing my GC more in 2006 than any prior year.
Hmm Best Buy clearanced out their Paper Marios for $10 in September. It was kind of tough to find though.
You just had to bring that up didn't you? You could also mention the $20 (or $0) price EB Games had before that. I went to EB Games hoping to get a $20 copy w/ $20 voucher, but when I was told I had to pick an offer I passed on it thinking the game had to drop soon. When the BB sale hit I checked two stores for a $9.99 copy with no luck. I even went out for an early lunch to check one and arrived just an hour after it opened. I then tried to order a copy online using a google's cached version of the item page but my order was eventually canceled.

I dont' even remember reading about that on CAG. :( I hope it goes PC soon so I can pick it up, and MK:DD finally, and Mario Tennis, and Super Mario Strikers.

Yeah I didn't know about that either. I would have gotten one.

Haha... it was only the second largest deal thread I've seen on CAG (behind the current TRU clearance).
Don't forget a new Kirby platformer is coming out in 06 (hopefully) and Nintendo's website lists a Naruto game for Q1.
Kirby, Zelda, Naruto 1 and 2, and the ability to catch up on the others I've missed or waited for drops and it's a good year to have the GC go out with a bang.
ive had the GC since launch, and ive only bought 6 games.. lol.
Heh, I've had mine for 2 weeks and own 6 games. :)

I've had one since launch and I bought 6 games last week (at the TRU sale).

That's sad.

I have 28 games in like 2-3 years. Most of which were $10 to $20.

And the first 4 months in 2006 have Odama, HM, and Zelda, and that little robot game. Looks better than this year.

I don't really get this. I've known a couple of people over the years who have owned lots of systems but with five or fewer games for them. Without exception, they've always been kind of "meh" about their systems.

Growing up kinda poor, I didn't have a lot of games myself and was a little mush-head and didn't know better than to try to play haggard crap like Rambo or Friday the 13th on the NES. At least they were rentals...

ANYWAY! The old systems were fun, but I've had way more fun with the 'Cube. I was wondering why that was the other night while I was knocking back some Jameson's, and I came to the conclusion that it was because I had more games (50+ at this point).

More games for your system = more enjoyment from your system. There's way more than 6 must-play games for the 'Cube. Go and get 'em!

And there you have it. Now go listen to the Punky! podcast. And have some whisky.

Agreed, I've got probably 50+ games that are unopened, unfinished, or unplayed in some fashion. I really need to get re-acquainted with my GC.

I buy a lot of multiplatform games for the GC since they're usually the only version I can find... 2006 looks like a really, really dim year. Zelda is the only game I really want.

Odama's cover.

With 14 games pretty much Confirmed for 2006, which look to cover almost the entire spectrum of gameing Nintendo should be good. I am alittle concerned over the need for a micrphone on Odama, that is one gimmick that I didn't like in Mario Party's latest installment. I am just glad of the backward compatibility of the Revolution makeing Nintendo remain as good if not better in the comeing next gen "console wars"

Chibi Robo looks fun, just have to much backlog of TRU/Circuit clearance to play plus the new Zelda is coming plus the New 20 dollar Rampage also.

Yeah, I don't think a lot of people are overly excited about Kirby, but I think it's going to be badass. A traditional Kibry platformer. Should be good times.
Then of course, Twighlight Princess. I'm not stupid or something.

I think having Zelda in the GC's final year is the best anyone could hope for... this is what I've been waiting for since OoT. MM was great and so was WW, but in their own sense (MM as a sidestory, WW as a new form of art).

Of course, I want to pick up both Mario Strikers, Tennis, and Baseball (already released), as well as Odama, Kirby, Chibi-Robo, and BK2.

I don't know why, but the Cube provides more fun than any other system for me. Playing online against people is one thing but nothing will beat having a few buddies over for some Mario Kart, Tennis, or just play Party. Plus, all the girls I know actually want to play games if they have Mario (because they're simple) or they're always up for some Donkey Konga.:D I could only imagine how much they would've had with Mario DDR (they love to dance) but that's impossible to find.:whistle2:(

Holy crap! Odama's cover looks insane!

The screenshots look equally sweet (check out GameStop):

I can't wait for Odama. I'm assuming they dropped compatibility with the bongos, right? And does the microphone just clip onto the controller? how does that work?

I'd be sad if the bongos don't work anymore. What could be more perfect for pinball paddles? And the mic would already be built in. Otherwise I'm not sure how the mic is going to be easily accessible. At least it comes with it so I'll have two mics (one from Mario Party) in case I ever want to pick up Karaoke Revolution.

At E3, there was a special plastic clip that hooked on the top of the controller to hold the microphone. You then pushed X to activate the mic. I'm sure something very similar will be in the final game... you can't take your hands off the controller just to switch to the mic.

Last I heard, the bongos were only going to be used by a second player to "cheer" on the troops. Too bad they won't be used more if at all. The bongos controller's microphone would probably be able to combine the controller/mic combo, correct?

Good, fun game though.

Karaoke Revolution comes with a mic too. So you'll have three mics.

I hope Odama is also sold w/o the mic (for a discount of course) because I already have two mics (MP and KR).

I don't think so. The bongos have a very low quality mic. I doubt it could be used to distinguish voice commands.
