Gamecube Controllers

This has to do with the reliablity with third party gamcube controllers. First off does anyone know where you can buy cheap official gamecube controllers for under $25? I called all my local game stores and looked on ebay and both places only have third party controllers. Anyway on to the third party controller question. Many people say that third party controllers break much quicker that is why I am asking you guys if you have had any problem with this controller. I can get 2 of these for $18. Should I do it or should I continue to try to hunt down the hidden official gamecube controller?

p.s
You know this is third party because it doesn't have the logo above the start button.
Thanks

I stop in GameStop and GameCrazy periodically and check if they have any WaveBirds. I've got three out of my four WaveBirds through these stores since October.

Wavebirds have to be one of the best control options ever made - still kicking myself for trading in all my Gamecube stuff for, like, $1.50 (each controller - think I got around $5 for my Wavebird) to Gamestop a couple years ago. Didn't know I'd ever get a Wii, or that I'd need my Gamecube controllers.

To answer your question, though, it's very difficult (at least where I live), to find an official Gamecube controller with getting raped on the inflated MSRP ($25), but I would suggest shelling out the money for the first-party controller. Every third-party controller for the Cube that I've ever held just felt cheap in comparison.

If you want to go a different route, try this:

It's a Classic Controller alternative that's wireless, it's less than $15, and it got a really good review from IGN.

Other than that, just know that official controllers are hard to find now, and Wavebirds are even harder.

I wish they'd just make Wavebird controllers again, especially since all of their big games seem to be supporting it.

The least they could do is license the "official" controller form to a third party and let them market it.

I tried playing with the Thrustmaster for Brawl, and I just couldn't. Compared to the gc, the button layout is just too different, and I would die constantly because I couldn't figure out how to jump.

Don't get me wrong, I love using it for things on the VC, but I just couldn't get it to feel right for Brawl, and I tried using it for about 2-3 hours.

I don't recommend anyone to get that controller! I bought it at Circuit City and the connection is horrible. It was great for the first week, but it stopped working properly soon after that. Stick with the official stuff, you won't regret it! :D
