Last night with 9minutes to spare I got to GameStop searched very quickly threw the ps1 controllers and multitaps and found nothing and looked really quick for some of those awesome thrid party Mad Catz Game Cube controllers but non new or used so right before I walk out the door boom I see a GameCube FreeLoader for $7 brand new(This might not be a deal but I have never seen it under $20 at GameStop. Tomarrow maybe I'll goto Game Exchange haven't looked there in a while(they have the best price on SNES multitaps only $6.99(they go on Ebay for $20+ only when you can find them which is rare on Ebay)

Springfield, Missouri
Battlefield Mall

PS This was the last copy in stock.

"Modchip"?

Gamecubes don't need a mod chip... you can mod it with a simple switch if you are so inclined.

I think hw means that the freeloader works kind of like a mod chip.

I did not know SNES multi-taps were so rare. I got the Hudson one last year for like 3 dollars

For me it is easier to use my xbox for my snes stuff so i can also take advantage of the 4 ports. as I have 5 systems hooked up and I had to remove any hardware that I could away. I may have a snes multitap still, i really need to go through my collection.

Freeloader lets you play imported games. It's basically a region-free device for the Gamecube. If it's only $7, I'm going to get one, that's a good deal.

Not unless there's at least one game from another region you want to play.
Plus you'll need an extra memory card (can't mix & match saves from different regions, so I've heard).

There are. Jap shooters, mainly. For $7 it'll be worth it to me even for one game that'll never be released here.

Freeloader is basically a boot-disc more than any type of modchip. As for games from other regions I played Naruto at my buddy's about a month or so ago and it was a pretty neat cel-shaded fighter. There are lots of others as well, but that one just popped into my head.

It depends on the game. The only GC import I own is SCII, and it saves with no problem.

The Freeloader converts the saves to the same region you are using, although it doesn;t work with all games. if you have any solderging skills do the 'mod' as its only sliughtly more expensive then the freeloader (for $7, if you can find it) and its much better. oh yes and there are MANY great import cube game.s

Freeloaders at GameStop are indeed ringing up at $6.99. I found 2 of them in a 50% off "retro" accessories bin. They were marked as $19.99, but they rang up cheap. I bought both, one for myself and one for another CAGer. I'm only charging what I paid ($7.45 after tax) and however much your preferred method of shipping costs. I've only got one, so first come, first served. Post here, please.

FYI, also be sure to check EB stores for the FreeLoader. I bought a brand new one for only $4.99 this past Wednesday.

At my local Gamestop, this had a sticker of 9.99, rang up up as 6.99 and was in the 50% off bin, so in the end the total was 3.49 + tax, great deal!!
