Well, it's nearing the end of the year, and it has been a great one for Gamecube owners. I've included in the poll the bigger releases that come to mind, but if your favorite isn't included on the list, by all means, tell everyone how great it is. Someone might go buy it! And if I've managed to leave off a really big release, tell me so I can add it!

My personal vote goes to Tales of Symphonia. Had you asked me this the day I got Paper Mario 2, I prolly would've gone with that, but looking back now, Tales had me absolutely captivated for 2 straight weeks, and I strongly recommend any GC owner go out and buy it.

MGS:TTS was the best game on the GCN this year IMO (though I have not played any of the games you listed aside from DOR and that game was horrible)

Whoever voted for Other, I would love to know what game it was. There were a ton of smaller releases that I couldn't fit on the poll.

EDIT: I'm guessing that was Casey, then.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a long time. Its just fun, and highly addicting. Great stuff.

Four Swords was the big one for me. My son and I had a blast playing it every day until we finished it. I've heard it was all a re-hash of old themes, but never having been a Link game fan before, it was all new to me. Echoes would be a close second. It's the same game as the first, IMO, but multi-player for both games made them more than the sum of their parts and the best of MY year.

Tales of Symphonia, it's the first real RPG for the system that wasn't a port, and still the best. 4 player co-op puts it far ahead of the rest.
DOR HORRIBLE?? what the hell is wrong with you man lol

thats the best wrestling game out right now
I hated the blocking system, and once I got on the ground, it did not seem like I could ever get up.

Smackdown series is still the best IMO

Of the games on the list, the only one I havn't played in some form is Pikmin 2. About half of them I've only gotten demo play out of, but I know I'm getting Metroid and Tennis for Christmas/brithday.

Damn, I knew I'd forget one big game. Swords was it. Unfortunately, I am out of polling options, so everyone who liked Four Swords the most, let the whole world know!

yea you just got to master the L and r. its nto hard at all...i find it easier to counter than smackdown. i just play the story in smackdown and thats about it...

The Smackdown series is a little too arcadey for me. I understand your "down forever" complaint. All my friends say the same thing the first time they play it. You absolutely have to master the blocking system to make that game fun.

I just never see myself mastering the blocking system. I thought it was much better in WM XIX.

and SD may be arcadey, but for me it is the most fun.

Fair enough. To each their own, right? :)

I have Paper Mario 2, Donkey Konga, and Tales of Symphonia from that list. I haven't played any of them yet so my vote isn't based on the actual quality of the games. I am going to say Paper Mario 2 though cause it is the one I am looking to playing most. I also have MGS: TTS, but I don't feel right about voting for a remake.

This is a real tough one. I loved both Paper Mario 2 and Tales when I got them. Metroid is also one of the most unbelievable games I have ever played. It takes what was so great about the first and improves on it. Hmmmmm.....can ther be a three way tie :)?

This year's GC lineups was one of the best lineups for any console that I can think of. I find it hard to pick one as the unquestioned number 1, but if I had to, it would be Metroid Prime 2. The Metroid Prime games are actually my 2 favorite games of this console generation and rank among my favorite games of all time. Anyway, it's close and I'd prefer to rank the Top 5 of GC games of 2004.

1. Metroid Prime 2
2. Paper Mario 2
3. Pikmin 2
4. Tales of Symphonia
5. Mario Power Tennis

Tales of Symphonia! I liked Paper Mario, but not as much as Tales. I haven't played Metroid Prime though..... Pikmin 2 was a big dissappointment.

While I loved some of those other games on the vote ballot, Metroid Prime 2 is definitely the GOTY. As a matter of fact, I'd pick it as my GOTY across all consoles.

Tales and Donkey Konga are great, getting MP2 Saturday, but my pick is Pikmin 2.

Obey the Captain.

Edit, HM: AWL is decent too, and free cow!

You left off both the best GC game of the year (Prince of Persia WW) and the best exclusive game of the year (Zelda Four Swords Adventures) IMO.

I had thought of Prince of Persia, but being that it is for all 3 consoles, I left it off. The only reason I put Joe on there is because I still feel it's more of a Gamecube franchise than PS2. And as I stated before, I left off Swords on accident. I'd replace Baten Kaitos, since it hasn't gotten any votes, but a few people have already cast their "Other" vote for it. baten Kaitos is really awesome, BTW.
I put Pikmin 2, but didn't WarioWare come out this year too? That would probably be #1 for me.
Yes, but seeing as the Gamecube version is barely different from the Gameboy one, I didn't really think it deserved mention over the ones I have on there now.

Well, I never did get the GBA one and I really like the mutliplayer modes that evidently were added for the Cube one. Plus the price was right.

Looking back it was a great year.

While I loved Pikmin 2 and currently I am enjoying the hell out of Metriod Prime 2, I would have to give it to Paper Mario 2.

I liked it so much. I immediately played it again after I finished. First time was brute force (high HP) the second was a badge monster.

Symphonia seems to have gotten forgotten by a lot of the review sites in the year-end awards. That's a real shame. I guess if a game comes out before October it gets completely forgotten. I couldn't believe Konga wasn't at least NOMINATED for best Rythym/Puzzle game over at Gamespot.
that's stupid.

4 plays is barely different

it definitely deserves mention over Metroid Lame 2
Is there anything that you actually like?

I seem to remember he really likes Link's Awakening. Can't argue with him there.

I voted for Mario Power Tennis. This has to be one of the most under rated multiplayer ever made, because that is one of the best thing about this game. Of couse, I still haven't play Mario Party 6, so that may change.

Then again, fortunately I don't hate everything.
