If this is the wrong board or old news sorry! Anyways, I just went to cancle my gamefly membership since it was taking a little too long for me to receive games, and also because sometimes they just are not getting here at all, when I did a special offer poped up. It said they didnt want to loose me as a costumer blah blah blah. Bottom line is it offered to give a one time offer of 2 games out at once for only $15. Makes it worth it to keep the service going for one month.

I thought I would let everyone here know since this can save $7 or it may make some people consider signing up for a month or two.
Wasnt your original comment that you didnt like that they couldn't do fast return on games that aren't currently in stock. Well if you sent the game back on Monday, the game wouldnt be able to ship until they have the next game you want in stock.

My understanding with Fast Shipping is that when you send out your game, when the post office receives it, they are able to scan it and notify Gamefly that you have returned a game. Based on this, they then ship the next game in your Q as quickly as possible even if the next game hasn't gone out.

For example in my experience, let's say I had Oblivion and Gun checked out (based on a true story). I decided to keep playing Gun and ship back Oblivion. I think after about 1 day, the post office notified Gamefly that I returned Oblivion and notified me that my next title was shipping. Typically with fast return, I end up getting a new game about 4-5 days after returning the initial game. If you ask me, this is pretty quick (especially since I usually have another game to play already).

Does that make sense?
no what im trying to say is this

I ship a game back on monday

THe game gets FAST RETURN ON TUESDAY

The next game i want gets release that Tuesday *BUT because the game doesnt go into the system into the afternoon the system will not keep the fast return into the system

meaning that i have to wait till the game gets returned on Saturday for the game to ship out. If they got their systems working right the game would ship out Tuesday

after the CC 9 buck deal, and finding out that a local video store now rents Grandia 3 and tales for ps2 im going to be leaving gamefly come July 3.

for the entire month of june (june 4 to now) i only got 1 game everything is either short or long wait
fast shipping runs through the post office, so I think the post office needs to be open for it to happen.

Americanpierg, if you just signed up on Thursday, that's pretty impressive that you got one game already in one business day. I would guess you would receive Condemned today or tomorrow.

In the spirit of World Cup, I got the new Fifa game for 360. My friend at 1up.com said it wasn't very good, but I played the hell out of it yesterday. I'd give it at least a 7.5/10. I'm on the fence about keeping it after the World Cup is over. I'm sure I'll just send it back.
? I signed up on thursday and got my game on monday...thats on the 3rd business day. This game is HORRIBLE compared to the gamecube version of fifa 06, and condemned never came and i have yet to recive a response back from gamefly...ud think theyd reply withing 3 freakin days

I'd say the 3rd business day is pretty good. Have you gotten the other game yet? I usually dont worry about getting a second game in the mail, since I already have a new game to play.

I am reallys starting to like Fifa World Cup on 360. I beat Croatia in the final last night 1-0 on a goal in the 90th minute.

how many games do you get with the plan? I am thinking of upgrading to 3 games now that sports game are going to start coming out soon and frequently.
I think gamefly would get a lot more people if they would go to faster shipping. ALLOW people to report when they put the game into the mail to make the shipping faster.
I thought Gamefly's Fast return pre-paid shipping envelopes you can have your local post office scan them before they go back into the mail system, and it's counted as returned already.

How does FastReturn work?

Question

How does FastReturnTM work?

Answer

When you return a game in the mail, the U.S. Postal Service will scan the return and send a confirmation to us. We will then send the next available game in your GameQ BEFORE we have received the game in our warehouse.

We will scan the game a second time when it arrives at our warehouse.

Your GameQ may temporarily show that you have more games out than your plan allows. This is because we are processing your next game via FastReturnTM. Your GameQ will be updated as soon as we receive the correct game in our warehouse.

NOTE: The USPS may not use scanning equipment in all locations. Therefore, not all GameFly members may be able to participate in this service.

I guess they are they talking about the scan equipment USPS PO's use for when you use a DC on 1st class/ priority mail, right?

3 games at a time run 28.95 + tax

2 games are 21.95 + tax

each game cost 7 bucks more
Per month?
yeah it's per month.

Phoenix area doesn't have a horrible turn around time. It's been about 4 days from when I ship it to when I get another. Fast return didn't actually kick in until about 2 days after I mailed it... which seems to be about the time it takes to mail it to LA anyway?? oh well. The way I see it, any game I ship Monday should get me a new one in time for the next weekend. Not bad, I'll take it.
Per month?
Yeah, per month. Here's the deals I found on their site

1 Game out
First month$9.95 ($14.95/month thereafter)
2 Games out
First month $14.95($21.95/month thereafter)

Pre-Paid Terms and Conditions

10-Day FREE Trial

2 Games out 10-Day
Free Trial ($21.95/month thereafter)

They also have the 3 and 4 game plans starting at $28.95. Personally I use the 2 game plan, and that's sufficient for me. I'm not usually playing that many new games at a time.

just found out from Gamefly

They do not do FAST returns in the last week before your membership comes up for renewal

my membership comes up July 5. Dropped a game in the mail last night DIdnt get fast return (first time in over 3 month)

I guess im going to cancell tomorrow
poorly, at least in my experience.

but seriously, it's some backdoor handshake between GF and USPS, where the post office notifies GF of their receipt of a game (the one you're returning). GF then ships your next game to you without actually waiting for the first game to come back, as they've already got USPS' word that it's on its way.

i've had it work all of one time in the last 2 months.
Actually its worse then that and another example of gamefly lying. I emailed them bitching about how infrequently it worked, and asked why when I did my trial period it worked frequently but once subscribed stopped. They said it actually has nothing to do with the post office, that they scan them when they get back to their closest facilty and then the game ships out.

Honestly, I hope someone brings a class action lawsuit against them like they did Netflix. Netflix didnt deserve that since pretty much everyone was happy with their performance. But gamefly needs to be sued for their activities.

Sounds like a ploy on their part just to try to throw another charge in there, just incase people do cancel.

Gamefly:

"Sorry sir, your game never arrived at our warehouse, or it arrived longer than 7 days after your cancellation period."

"We'll have to charge you for that game".........................

I'll never become an official Gamefly Subscriber, because it seems like to much bull shit involved when dealing with them.

I bought a game from them 3 weeks ago, and it took 6 whole shipping days to get here. That's terrible.

It sounds like you're having success with the fast return if this is the first occasion in over 3 months that Fast Return didnt work. Why would't you just keep the membership going to get the fast return? Where can I find the info about not sending fast returns that you found...thanks
