Gamefly Turn around Time?

Many have praised netflix's turn around time (turn around time being the time between sending a game back and receiving a new one) as it can get as low as one day which is incredible. I'm ready to start an account with GameFly but I have heard not so good things about their turn around time. But everything I have read has been a little old and out dated. So any members here who use gamefly and can tell me about this?

I've only been a member for about 5 months, but it's always been good for me. It's not exactly one day, but it's close. For example, if I drop off a game for the mail on Monday I'll always have the next game in my queue Wednesday morning. Obvious exception is Sundays.

My wife and I tried gamefly out last month. our first games came in about 4 days. our second set of games took 11 days from the day we shipped the last ones out to get the new ones.

Well I haven't been a member for over a year now but when I was it would take about a week for them to receive a game and a week for them to ship me a new one. This may not sound horrible until you take into consideration that I live 3 hours away from the nearest shipping center. But like I said that was over a year ago. Maybe they're better now.

gamefly has really turned into a little bunch of #$#$#$$#

usually gamefly gets a game back on weds the next game ships out weds

They now say ALLOW up to 2 days after we get your game to ship out the next one

and the last two times they did... they got my games on weds and nothing shipped till friday

shipping time is 2 to 3 days each way ...

So say they ship on the first i would get it on the 4th i play the game for 2 weeks send it back on the 18th give them 3 days for a weekend and they get it back on teh 21... i wouldnt get nothing else sent to me until the 23.. i get it the 25 and have 3 or 4 days to play it

once im out of trade credits im leaving gamefly sadly

For me, living in Missouri, I would drop a game off on Monday, receive confirmation GF received it on Thursday, receive confirmation that a new game was shipped on Friday, then receive the new game on Thursday.

Almost 2 weeks turnaround time.

I canceled after a year.

I've always been disappointed in Gamefly's turn around. Takes them about three days to recieve the game, a day or two to PROCESS it, and two days to recieve the game.

So essentially it's a game a week.

It's also completely inconsistent. If I take the game directly to the post office, it doesn't get there any faster, but if I leave it in my mailbox at home, it'll OCCASIONALLY activate the "fast return" feature.

I started using Gamefly last month (my first month will be up next week) and I have had a pretty terrible experience with them so far. When they shipped my initial set of games, I got them within one business day just like I do with Netflix and I was impressed; after that the service went downhill big time. It is as if they try to impress you at first and slack on the service afterwards.

It usually takes about 3 days to get a game and another three days for them to receive a game back from me. However, normally when they get my games back they will wait up to 4 or 5 days to ship me another one, even when my queue has a lot of games on it that are set as medium and high availability. They ALWAYS send me games on the bottom of my list too so I never get what I really want.

The only positives I can say about Gamefly is that their discs are usually in really good shape (unlike Netflix) and they have awesome used game deals. I rented Demon's Souls from them and they gave me a $10 off coupon for being a new member, so I got to keep the game for only $25 and quickly sent me the case and manual in mint condition.

I will be canceling their service as soon as they get my last two games back. Not very happy with them at all.

It all depends on how close you are to a distribution center. They have one in Pittsburgh, and since I live in the suburbs, turnaround time was pretty fast. Drop game off at the post office Monday morning on way to work, they get it and ship next one out on Tuesday, I get it on Wednesday. 'Course, that's if they actually have the games available. If you want any major release, it'll probably take a couple months before they actually send you it.

I live in Missouri and I've been a member for a little over a year currently. I'd say turnaround time is 4-5 days. Admittedly the problem is that most people put only big in-demand releases. It's pretty much no better than trying to get them from a place like blockbuster, but good luck on them even carrying some titles, and it's a helluva lot cheaper. The best thing to do is fill your queue with a mix of big/small and newer/older titles. It keeps my cycle of rentals pretty consistent.

I don't have nor have I tried Gamefly, but I assume that the closer you are to a DC the quicker the turn-around time. Availability of a game is another factor to consider.

I have Netflix and the turn-around time is 3 business days from the day I mail out to the day I receive. Really good IMO.

Yeah, when I first got it turnaround was pretty slow, then they opened up another distrubition center or two (I think mine currently ship from Arizona) and it became noticeably faster.

That's always been one of my main concerns too. I didn't realize they had one right in Pittsburgh, I guess it'd be pretty fast for me. Maybe I'll try one of those free trials sometime and see how it goes.

This is 100% the exact same experience I had.

Depends on how close you are to a distribution center usually. I get games from them in two days and they get them back in two days, which has been consistent for most of the three years I've been a member.

Once they ship it, it takes three days for me to get it. Here's my turnaround:

7/19 - Send back game
7/22 - They receive game
7/26 - They send out another game
7/29 - I receive the other game

It's pretty fuckin' terrible, but I'm going to try it for a second month with the two out plan. Maybe I can strategize it better. I think I'll end up canceling after the second month though.. it's ridiculous. I really wish Netflix rented games..

My turnaround time is usually around 5 business days. I honestly dont see why turnaround time is important unless gamefly is your only access to games. With buying games and Goozex most of the time I get a game from gamefly it sits unopened for weeks before I even play them.

You're doing it wrong. Want a major release? Have an open queue spot in advance of the ship date, and more often than not you'll get it. Hell, Gamefly often beats my Amazon Prime release day shipping since the mail comes way before the UPS man.

I get plenty of the big releases in reasonable time. The only recent one I had any issue getting was RDR.

this is pretty well on, i got lost planet 2 right away, because i had an open slot on a tuesday. then it took over a week to get midnight club LA, so i guess if you can time it right you will do ok.

I've tried that with every new release I've been interested in, and it only worked for Left 4 Dead 2. (which coincidentally was in my first month of membership). Since, I've had games at the top of my queue at their release, had the open spot, and still get some random game at the bottom of my list a few days after the new release.

You also can't just add it to your queue a few days before it comes out since they send out copies based on who has had it in their queue the earliest.

Turnaround is usually four business days for me, though once I "kept" a game and I got the next game on my list the day after that.

I don't think they do the Fast Return junk, at least not with my post office.

Yeah your PO has to have a certain type of scanner. I don't know how to tell which ones have it though, unless you just have to do trial & error.
