GameQuestDirect wants to win the CAGs back - Feedback requested

Anyway, where are the results of this thread? C'mon GQD, make your first move :)

If they reprint some SMT games (Nocturne and DDS) with new boxes (so as not to piss off collectors), I will be happy to support them. (They can actually piss off collectors as much as they want in my mind).

GQD has got to stop being shady with what they llist as the "retail price" of games.

Some examples:

Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2 (PS2) - retail listed as $59.99 (actual retail was maybe $49.99, though it's a freaking Army Men game for crying out loud)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - retail listed as $49.99 (actual retail was $29.99)
Spy Vs. Spy (Xbox) - retail listed as $39.99 (actual retail was $19.99)
FFXI: Chains of Promathia expansion (PS2) - retail listed as $39.99 (actual retail was $29.99)
Suikoden 3 - retail listed as $79.99 (actual retail was $39.99 or $49.99)
Ninja Five-O - retail listed as $49.99 (actual retail was $29.99)
Pinobee (PSX) - retail listed as $39.99 (actual retail was $19.99)
Brave Fencer Musashi - retail listed as $69.99 (actual retail was $39.99 or $49.99)

I mean, why even bother listing the retail prices of games if you're not going to be honest about it?

I checked out their website some of their stuff is okay priced but a lot of the ps1 stuff is a bit high for my blood.

Now where is a coupon for us cheap spenders, like $3 off $20

Yeah some of the other prices make me cringe. But I will keep an eye for something I'm looking for!
How does the game reprinting business even work? A company like GQD goes up to a publisher and asks for the rights and assets, and then produce the reprints? I assume there's limitations to this? Like I probably can't ask for Ikaruga or Ico and magically get them, right?
Yeah, I don't understand this at all. I had no idea anyone did this. I mean presumably this is legal, and this company is actually licensing these games to reprint? Do they print them themselves? Have Sony/Nintendo do it?

Are these identical to the original releases? Are they new, and sealed?

I mean normally a reprint is the same thing, just that the publisher goes back and orders more up-so this is apparently different.

Okay, I'm looking at the site and still totally confused. What are we getting? They've got SNES games listed, and they don't say they're used...so are these new, sealed games? I'd try Ignition Factor for $15, and there are probably others, but only if these are NEW, SEALED games. I don't care if they were reprinted (as long as they're legal, and done by or with the consent of Nintendo and function properly).

Try Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 & 2 being sold at and having a "retail price" of $99.99. Yeah, it was NEVER over $50. Dunno where the hell they got $100 from.

really stores can make up any price they want. why do you think they sell stuff at 80% off in stores even thought its really only 5% off what other stores sell it at

the go straight to the publisher and pay upfront for a certain number of copies of a certain game. Only difference is that it is missing the white sticker for ps1 and ps2 games as sony no longer uses them.

Thanks! So it sounds like they're really just ordering new copies from the original publisher. Nothing unusual about it at all.

That's good to know!

That sounds really risky for them. $100,000 sounds like a huge gamble.

I still can't understand how people can get angry over a reprint though. It SHOULDN'T say it's a reprint, they never have the the past, and there's no reason for that.

Now if the company's service is scummy, that's different.

I actually have Cosmic Fantasy 2!

What white stcker, as I have never purchased a new PS1 or 2 game?
What white stcker, as I have never purchased a new PS1 or 2 game?
I'm assuming that means...

there used to be an official looking sticker thing covering the top of Playstation 1 and 2 games. It had the Playstation logo, a white background, black text with the game's name. I still have mine from a few games like Final Fantasy 10. I guess they don't use that anymore.

One really nice thing about it is you could read what a game was without pulling it out when they were all aranged in like a bargain rack or something like that. That always annoyed me with Gamecube games, since I'd have to physically pull the whole thing out to see it.

I noticed a few CAGs on that article in the comments section(bungiefan, MightySlacker), as well as a supposed coupon code for free UPS Ground Residential on orders over $44.99(from the supposed GQD Management person who posted).

Here's the coupon code, in case anyone who perused that article missed it in the comments:

Free UPS Ground residential shipping on GQD orders over $44.99:

Not sure if it's still active, but if it is, then you may just get your stuff quicker.

well ive nvr heard of this site but just went there and most of the stuff im interusted in is WAY over priced (ps1 rpgs for teh most part is what im looking for) I dont mind if we give them a chance. But they sould always remember that it will be hard to win us over. We are CAGs. :p

On to reprints: i dont care about reprints. I want to play the game. Really owning rare games is really about bragging rights. And most of these games that are rare are great games. Not opening a game is like buying a ticket to the biggist game of the year and not using it and having it sit on the self.

Reprints all the way if it involes a good price

Two more cents from me:

If they can keep the cost down below full retail($50 for most games) and keep it reasonable, then give them a chance. But, if they want Ebayish prices for the reprinted games, then tell them to go f themselves again and take them off the affiliates list.

$20-30 for a reprinted game is fair imo, while $40-50 is pushing it, since this IS CHEAPassgamer.

I ordered a game, Yggdra Union as received it today. The packaging could of been done better as the box was halfway crushed by UPS. Although the game game safe, I noticed a nice sticker on the back that has two expired coupon codes. Both read 12/15/05. One is $5 off $50 purchase and the other is $10 off $100. Just an FYI.

i think i agree that they should price them fairly reasonable. the idea of reprint is not to make a huge profit on 1 copy of the game..

youre reprinting it so that other people could buy it and since it is an older title (im referring to the recent REmake and RE0 reprints) princing it at $40 is REALLY pushing it. i mean, these are still (kinda) out there at $19.99. i bought REmake from sears for $14.99 not so long ago..

I haven't seen a thread officially announcing the winners yet, but I won a copy of Growlanser Generations from GQD in a recent contest. I've already received it and its in perfect shape. Thanks to all involved.

(if there's a thread announcing the contest winners, this should be moved there)

CheapyD wanted me to post this here.

I pre-ordered Halo 3 Legendary from GQD a week or 2 ago and asked for overnight shipping. On Monday, Sept. 24, I received a call telling me that it would cost an extra $10 in shipping to get it overnighted. I agreed. Tuesday, Sept. 25, I was told it was being sent out and I would receive it on Wednesday. It is Tuesday night now. I just checked the website and it is listed as being sent 2 day fedex. I will receive it on Thursday now. I called them and the lady I spoke with was not listening to my point or my problem. After hanging up, I soon received a call back telling me that I would get free shipping. Personally, they can recall it for all I care. I'm never using them again.
