I'm torn on picking up the C&C Ultimate collection. It's a good price. I haven't played any C&C since the 90s (even then not that much, I got most of my RTS fill from Dune 2 ('94, the mother of RTS), and later revisited it with Dune 2000 ('98)).
To me, the funny part is that they've already got a loyalty system set up with their experience/leveling system, the rewards page mentions that higher tiers may receive special discounts, and they've never done anything with it outside of their referral program. This would've been a great time to roll out tiered discounts so they wouldn't have to give up as much to people who signed up just to take advantage of the price mistakes.
I think that would be a great way to handle it. I'd speculate (I'd really like to see numbers though) that most people trying to jump on the Beth and BL2 glitches had low level accounts. (I'm level 4.)
From what I've seen in the past on really hot deals, the SD crowd (I'm assuming the largest base that tried for the Beth & BL2 packs) descends like locusts, consumes, and leaves. (The HP TouchPad firesale being a great case study.) Either the GG newbies leave and never use the 20%, or they stick around and occasionally buy from GG (and hopefully GG turns some profit from that).
They ran the 15% IGN discount for the better part of the year (though it didn't work on BC), so they seem to be able to swing that to an extent. It even overlapped with the G2PO (5%) for a bit. Based on the math and the IGN precedent, I expect the BC discount to be shut down. They also have the options of shutting down the 20% early, or simply not discounting as much (bad for new customer growth, and old customers w/o 20%), or making just switching the 20% to solely a BC-back scheme (like the do for a few games already).
