DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

I traded in Tomb Raider Legend for 35 and picked up Donkey Konga 2, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and EYETOY PLAY for 38.

3 bucks out of pocket. I may start trading games again.

Thanks io - I'm pretty good friends with the assistant manager at my local BB, and one of the guys I work with at the TV station is a part-timer there as well. I may be able to swing the bonus on some of my less-than-great games.

First Blockbuster I went to today had no clue about the extra $5 promo. Anyways, I went to another Blockbuster down the street and they had signs up for the promo. I went ahead and traded in:

I know people may get mad at me for requesting this, but I honestly don't have time (and I'm sure other people don't either) to look through 40+ and growing pages because I'm at work. Can someone summarize what games from the CC sale or in general have relatively high trade-in prices? I've seen a few like Flatout, Getting Up, and Nightmare Before Xmas...thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help out.
 
Some varying experiences today.

I picked up the following today (with the varient prices):
XB Stolen $5
PS2 Stolen $2.50
DS Zookeeper $5
PS2 World Poker Tour $5

Just a heads up I went to Wherehouse and traded in the following:
PS2 Stolen got $9 credit
PS2 World Poker Tour got $9 credit
PS2 Timesplitters got $1 credit (as opposed to the website)

I'm gonna go get price quotes for some of the circuit city games since Wherehouse carries iPods....

That should have been $5 New unless maybe you bought it used.

PS I went and traded the following (prices after the added $5):

It's funny, I had to tell them about the extra $5 per game. The Manager was almost yelling that they had "No new promotions". I had to tell him to turn around and look at the big ass sign behind him that said "Trade 3 and get an extra $5". It was classic, especially when they screwed up and gave me an extra $5. :)

Have nothing as in, they have none of the games on the list, or have nothing marked/signed? If the latter, don't worry about it. None of the four I went to had any signage. One of them had a couple things with the 50% off prices in a basket. All of them had the correct prices at the register.
 
Totally took the employees at BB by me by surprise. I asked for the price of Blinx 2. She looked at the lable and said 19.99. I asked her to scan it and she did a double check. $5.00! She called over an associate who then called the DM. After he got off the phone he says to me, had he known he would have gotten it for himself. Score one for me!

Must be YMMV in my area. There was a table with 3 items marked 50% off and all the games I wanted were on the shelf priced as marked:bomb: Predator Concrete Jungle rang up for 19.99 and since this was the 3rd store Id hit wihtout finding it for 9.99 or at all I got it.

Grand Theft Auto Advance $6.25 (glad I didn't pick it up at CC For $9)

MC Groovz w/pad (box pretty beat up but oh well) - $8.75

DK Country 2 GBA - $7.50

Plus I found a bunch of decent $2 used, complete PSX games, including a copy of Beast Wars: Transformers that I'd been looking for for a while.

Oh, and I had both PSP baseball games on the clearance rack scanned and they are both $7.50. Not sure what baseball PSP game some one said they got for $5 but I definitely didn't find one.

6.25 for all em except 5.50 for ncaa 2005 football which I bought from the same store yesterday new for 3.75. :)

I then bought NHL 2k6 for 5 bucks. 1.25 less than the trade in of 2k5. MMMM
 
Didn't trade anything in today :)shock:), gotta regroup and figure out if there's anything else I want to dump from my collection at GR or EB.

Bought Dark Cloud, SSX On Tour (PS2), and Baten Kaitos to trade in to EB. I'll have to check the wiki to see what I should expect for MMAC (GC), they had a couple of those - I know it wasn't as much as the PS2, but with the bonus it might work out decently enough.

Also scored a Wario Ware Twisted! They didn't have one out, but I (maybe?) remembered seeing one at one point, turns out they had one in stock and it was in the cabinet, most likely because the huge box doesn't fit in a security case. Good day overall, much better than yesterday.
 
If you guys are still waiting, you better hurry since the deal is now on the front page of slickdeals. He did give CAG credit though.

None of the blockbusters around me know anything about the trade in and get an extra $5 deal, its annoying but is there anything I can do if they dont know how to do it? Have them call someone?

Nothing as in no sale.
The sale as they told me at every Blockbuster was "Just on hardware, not on games". They had a Retro control I wanted. That was all. All the games listed here were the price they were marked at the store.... mostly 19.99 or up.

I don't get you guys - look at the fucking Wiki - that's what it is there for. No need to wade through 40 pages of posts. If you see CC game X in the wiki for such and such amount, then you can decide if that is worth it to you. We put the most current trade-in date there so you can judge if it is valid or not.

What's the big deal? Botticus and I work hard to keep that thing up to date you know :lol:.

Americanpierg - if you mean what trades in well at EB, that is a different matter (though you can check out the EB wiki and compare it to the GR sale list just as easily as I did it last night :D). But if you check out the EB thread in a few hours I will have my trade-in haul posted there (many games from GR - they were all worth it).

Ok, first of all, I'd like to add a big YMMV to the $5 bonus deal happening at regular Blockbusters. I went in to my local one and they told me flat out they aren't participating - only the ONE GR within 500 miles is. Last year during the same promo they most definitely participated.

OK, so I thought maybe that was just one store. I went to another later and the girl there didn't know about it at all. She looked in the MAP, saw it there and said, therefore, that they were doing it. I got my games and she started to ring it up but the computer wasn't letting her adjust as the instructions in the Map had said it would. She called someone (store manager presumably) who told her they were also not participating, but since she told me it was OK they figured out how to override and give me the adjustments JUST this one time.

So, apparently, the BB's around here (district-wide maybe??) have decided not to run the promo, even though it is in their MAP. Fortunately I dumped some duplicate CC games at this second BB and don't have too much left. I'll have to decide if it is worth it bringing another set into GR or not.

Anyway, among both GR and the regular BB I got the following (before bonus):

GBA - Galidor: $3.75 (VERY surprised, I almost didn't bring this thinking it wouldn't qualify. I got it for 96 cents at CC a few months back :rofl:

Like you LinkinPrime, I had no bites on my CC trade list at all, and that turned out to be just fine with these trade-in values. Things like Castlevania, Matrix, Driver, etc I would have returned but the $5 bonus saves me the hassle :D.

After these trades I went to a really cool EB where the manager gives me the 10% Edge bonus, the (now) $3.33/game bonus, and the 10% preorder bonus and I traded 15 games (11 of which were from the GR clearance sale) and got $130 in EB credit which I used for Deep Labyrinth and Blade Dancer preorders (which both being Atlus/NIS titles they are unlikely to show up at GR).

I made the rounds today, and did pretty well. Someone had already cleaned out all the Xbox Live kits, though - one store had three as recently as the past weekend. I hit four GRs. All had signage for the $5 bonus, but had a mixed bag in their ability to get it right the first time. Didn't lose anything, though. 3 of the 4 had their clearance stuff in either a bin or endcaps. The fourth was repricing some accessories, but otherwise no presence or indication of clearance games.

I did find a Red Ninja to trade, for the person who asked about it.
