DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Trade-In Price Wiki

You would be better off selling to someone else. They never give you close to what you can get from an individual. Problem is that a one on one trade takes time...
The guy read off every PS3 and Wii game they had in the system and I missed a bunch because I was trying to scribble on the back of a Blockbuster receipt whilst simultaneously deciphering his accent :D. Wii games are now listed under "WII" by the way.

PS3:

DMC
GTA
Sonic
Killzone 2
Call of Duty
Warhawk
RE5
Resistance Fall of Man
MGS4
Oblivion
MS Gundam

I missed several others, but one I made sure to check on was FF XIII, which is NOT in the system.

Wii:

Antbully
Call of Duty
Elebits
Metal Slug Anthology
Happy Feet
Rayman
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Red Steel
Cars (WTF?)
Chicken Little (WTF?)

and some others that I missed (didn't double check Super Mario Galaxy, MP3, or Super Smash Brothers, but I don't think I heard those when he ran them off.

I preordered Loco Roco for PSP and LoZ for Wii. The retail on LoZ, and presumably all the Wii and PS3 titles is $59.99, so I only put $5 down in case it goes down later. On PS3 titles, since there's the slight chance they will bump them UP to $69.99 I'd pay in full if you are interested (and have the credit laying around). You'll get it for $59.99 even if they bump it up later if it is considered paid in full now.
Nice to see they finally got the games in the system, now only if they'd put the consoles in there for pre-order.

Followed up with a few GR's after I was denied trading in UMD's. Seems they are no longer buying back UMD's at all. So add GR to the list of places dropping umd. Not a big surprise since target and walmart already did...

Cool happening at my GR today. I asked the manager (for about the 100th time) about Wii/PS3 pre-orders, and he said that they are now taking names on a list for eventual Wii/PS3 hardware deposits. He wouldn't let me put cash down, but I'm #3 on a list for when they do start taking cash towards them. I was pretty happy about that - none of the other GRs around here are doing this. Maybe some others in other parts of the country are though? YMMV.

This was the West Altamonte GR in North Orlando.

Nothing new at either of my two GRs. I was hoping they'd have new clearance stuff after hearing some stores were moving it out to bigger stores like mine.

Again, both GRs had multiple Prey and Chromehounds, and I didn't bother to look for NCAA. (I'm not a football fan, at all...)

Also, I was checking out their "4 DVDs for $20." I couldn't find four that I wanted or didn't already have, but a friend found 2 (Dodgeball & The Island) and I found 2 (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory & Cinderella Man), so we split the cost 10/10.

Also, I was eyeing the two used copies of Over G Fighters, as I got to play it at Circuit City and thought it was quite a bit of fun. However, I'd rather just buy it new for $5 more, but none of my GRs seem to carry it new... Has anyone spotted a new Over G Fighters for Xbox 360?

Thanks...

nothing new today...clearance games are almost all gone...but there was a sealed copy of space invaders for snes and sealed total carnage for nes on the clearance table... both were for 25, screw that

Did the PS2 game Gun have a high trade in value a few months ago? Because there were tons of used copies for less than about $17 at my local BB that is taking part in the extra $5. I've never seen so many copies of that game before.

BB ordered way too many copies of Gun for rental last year.

Called for some quotes today, all GC:

NFL Street 2 - $6
LOTR: Third Age - $7
LOTR: Return of the King - $0.75
LOTR: Two Towers - $0.50
Geist - $2.50
Summoner - $6

I have this feeling that the decent valued games won't qualify for the +$5, just because I have good luck like that and GR has a goofy system, but I guess I'll hold those back from EB (unless Street 2 gets a similar amount at EB - I know Third Age and Summoner are only $4 and $3 respectively) and give it a shot this weekend.

GBA trade prices (via phone in)
metroid zero mission - 1.00
mario & luigi sss - 4.50

is the kingdom hearts com wiki price accurate at 5.50. it would be a good chance to PM to eb trade price of 9.00

I should attempt the extra $5 per gba games later

If you try it, I'd be interested to see how it goes. Never PM'd a trade value, and on top of that trying to the deal bump.
BB ordered way too many copies of Gun for rental last year.
They must have. I've been to a few regular BB's scouring for clearance games and EVERY SINGLE ONE has multiple used Gun (PS2, usually, I think) for sale. Very wierd that it is just that game - never happened for the Maddens or any of last year's big holiday releases.

Botticus - thanks a TON for the LOTR 3rd Age quote. I was about to take mine to EB, but I'll definitely take it to GR instead. I'm low on GR tradeables anyway, so that will help make 3 for tomorrow.

My plan is to hit up 3-4 regular BB's today and see what clearance gems I can find (hopefully more GoldenEye and DMC2, if not the better ones like SH4 and MegaMan Anniversary which I don't think regular BB's carried).

Here's a new value, the wiki has PS2-Killzone as a $10 value. Today (7-15) it only got $7 at my local GR. $12 with the bonus. Since it was only $7.50 ( I think!) at CC I traded it anyway along with Driver,Flow, and Genji. So I spent $37 cash and ended up with $79.50 GR credit. Now I'm at Wiiiiiiiiiii !!!!!!!!! credit level.

Wonder if they will drop prices? They currently sell them for $25-$30 each it seems. Too bad these never hit the 75% off sale.

My local BB still has stacks of Guy Game (Xbox) $10.83 w/tax and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes (GC) $5.40 w/tax if anyone needs them. Add $3 for shipping or I can trade for them.

Sold out of just about everything else since they were correctly stickered.

Is the Sony PSP Battery Pack 75% off? Saw them stickered for $34.99, but I remember they were $14.99 a while back so wondering if they're less now.

Tried to move some credit to EB today and was shotdown on the trade 3/$10 at ebgames. The manager said it was a one time bonus for the first 3 games and I would get $10 bonus total even though I had 15 games. As soon as I went in I remembered while I avoid the place. I don't know how you guys have the nerves to move credit. I understand what everyone ment by needing about 15-20 games just to move $100 now.

Anyways I think I will just stick to Rhino and GR credit. Especially since some of the $5-10 GR clearance games qualify for the trade 2 get 1 free deal at Rhino...
Anyone able to get a trade-in price for Me and My Katamari for PSP? My GR can't seem to find it in there system.
They ought to be able to find it as I bought one there (via preorder) when it came out. They are probably just looking it up wrong.

kjuaburn - Sorry to hear about that. If you read the EB/GS trade deal thread you will see there are a few employees who post there who say that is definitely NOT correct (though it has happened to a few other CAGs). It is supposed to be $10 extra for every 3 games. I was pissed today because I had one store not allow me to scan the Edge card and get the 10% bump. So I pulled back all my games except 2 Jampacks and an Aggressive Inline ($2.50 at GR). Funny, they won't give the 10% boost but take Jampacks. Anyway, got $13 in credit for 2 free Jampacks and $2.50 in GR credit. Not bad - but I had to go to another store to trade the rest of my GR games.

I told him the other EB's would give me the 10% boost and he said they were all doing it wrong then. Yeah, right, that's why nearly every CAG countrywide (with a few exceptions here and there) is able to do it... I could call the corporate line and get him in trouble as the EB/GS people in the trade 3 deal thread suggest. In your case, kjuaburn, I definitely would. That is not the way the deal is supposed to work.

Anyway, while running around to regular BB's looking for clearance games I found another that is doing the $5 bonus deal - and this is a little tiny, out of the way Blockbuster than probably gets 1 game traded in a month. Very wierd. Anyway, I was able to do the trade I was going to do at GR tomorrow but no longer have to:

GC - Lord of the Rings Third Age: $7
PS2 - Total Overdose - $12
PS2 - Gretzky NHL 06 - $12

...before bonuses of course. The other 2 employees there couldn't believe I was getting $15 on top of this and said they are going to bring in all their games now :D. Pretty funny considering the GIGANTIC sign right behind them advertizing the $5 bonus deal .

Is anyone near the Lincoln Nebraska Area? I live a hour away, and I was wondering if there were any GameRushes nearby. I know there are Blockbusters, but I was unsure if some of them had a GameRush section as well...

Prices before $5 bonus:

Guilty Gear DS - $10.00
Powerdrome Racing PS2 - $1.25
Pinball Hall of Fame Xbox - $2.50
Virtua Fighter 4 PS2 - $1.25
Midway Arcade Treasures 2 Xbox - $1.00
Midway Arcade Treasures Xbox - $6.00!
Need For Speed Underground Xbox - $1.25
NBA Street Vol. 2 Xbox - $0.50
Headhunter Redemption Xbox - $1.25
Tenchu Wrath of Heaven PS2 - $1.00
Gauntlet Dark Legacy GC - $1.00 (Finally found a cashier that would take this scratched up disc-only game.)

Total with bonus - $86.94

These games don't qualify for the $5.00 bonus so I took them all to Gamestop instead:

Mark Davis Pro Bass Fishing PS2 - $0.25
Gun Valkryie Xbox
Project Gotham Racing Xbox
Strike Force Bowling PS2
Motorcross Mania 3 PS2
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2x Xbox

I don't remember the Gamerush trade-in values for anything except the fishing game.

I paid $10 for the Wal-Mart 3-pack with Ford Racing, Motocross Mania 3, and Powerdrom Racing. I got $6.25 for Powerdrome at Gamerush with bonus and around $9 for other other 2 games at EB. Not the best profit but some Wal-Marts are selling these 3-packs as low as $3.00, which would be a much better profit.

I also got a second Wal-Mart 3-pack for $8.00 that had Pinball Hall Of Fame, Mark Davis Pro Bass Fishing, and Strike Force Bowling in it. I got $7.50 for Pinball at Gamerush, around $7.50 for the Bass game at EB, and around $5.50 for the bowling game at EB. Much better profit on this one. $20.50 for an $8.00 investment. This 3-pack can also be found on clearance as cheap as $3.00.

kjauburn - Sorry to hear about that.
I guess you could say I am used to having a few problems at GR and the deals are worth the trouble. However what pissed me off about EB/GS is I tried a Gamestop first only to be told the deal was over. Next EB and they say its only a single $10 bonus. I read the real deal in the other thread, but since I wasn't a fan of either store before the 0 for 2 you can imagine my opinion of them now. Since I have tons of GR credit I was willing to move some, but now I figure its not worth the trouble. Plus the fact some GR's were even restock with DS lites justs add stock to my Wii hopes.

Traded in the following. Prices are before $5 bonus.

Aeon Flux PS2- $24
Star Wars KOTR XBox- $7
Total Overdose PS2- $12
Tony Hawk 3 GC- $0.25
Gran Turismo 3 PS2- $1.25
NBA Street Vol 3 GC- $12
Matrix: PoN- $12

I did this trade at a couple of stores and had some great new interpretations to the extra $5 deal. I love showing the clueless employees the fine print on their own sign:) . Here are the highlights.

1. When you trade in a bunch of games, the game that trades for the most does NOT qualify for the extra $5.

2. Only 3 games are eligible for the extra $5, all games after 3 are regular trade value.

I didn't make any scene with these people. I just took my credit and left, but I had the same problem someone else had earlier in the thread. I was told at one GR that they weren't allowed to put credit onto value cards anymore even though it says IN THE TRADE AGREEMENT that you can. I now have credit sitting at 3 area blockbusters adding up to over $150.

Last, but not least. I opened a Matrix in the car before I went in and when the guy looked at it he said it looked too scratched even though it had been unwrapped 5 minutes before. Overall a decent weekend of credit though. Didn't mean to complain too much.

Anyone have a chance to check jammer's new list for credit builders?

Traded these in at my GR.
GC
RE - 7.00
RE 0 - 0.75
Tales of Symphonia - 7.00
XBX
Guilty Gear X2 #Reloaded - 1.00

with 5 bonus each, 35.75 for games I havent played/would never play again.

I asked the CSR to scan a halo 2 and viewtiful joe to see if they were clearanced. 29.99 and 9.99 respectively. I didnt now if she hit total, so I will go back another time and see if they are or not. I remember picking up a halo 2 from the same store a while back for 10.00 so its really wierd that they would mark a game UP after it was already marked DOWN.

Its hard to part with ones collection of games, especially knowing what you paid for a game vs its trade in value. The bright side is turning old games into new systems/games, or at the least, into good EBAY/Craigslist desireables.

They don't have to hit total anymore... all the prices are the actual prices, rather than "coupons" like they were with the 50%. Halo 2 may be another game that was taken off clearance (assuming it's on the list).

Luckily, I've managed to get very near my purchase cost on most of the games I've traded in at GR or eBay.

Traded in the last bit of my games today.

Some new ones...
Sega Classics PS2 .50
Devil May Cry 3 SE PS2 6.00
Mario Kart DS $15
Exit PSP $18

I really wanted to like Exit...but the game was so damn bad. I could never make a long jump for the life of me. Luckily they pay $14 ($23 with $5 extra) for it, so I didn't lose any cash. Also found a GR employee that knows about the site. Hopefully he sends me a PM. He seems to be the only one that has any knowledge of the $5 extra.

Well, to be fair, it wasn't a GR - just a regular BB. Like I said, they probably only got 1 trade per month there before :D. I thought it was odd they chose that location to do the $5 bonus deal at. I've been to about 10 regular BB's the last 2 weeks and only 2 are running the promo - this one was an odd choice.

The manager type (not sure if she was or not but she seemed in charge) knew how to do the promo just fine - but the other 2 people there had no clue and they were the ones who said they'd take all their games from home and trade them in. The manager said that would be fine, and in fact, as employees, they were already set up with trade accounts.

I went to 2 more regular BB's today. Found a couple of games at one, and then saw a used Grandia II on the shelf! My GR has never had this, and no EB/GS within 100 miles has it. Unfortunately it was scratched to hell and had no manual. Booo! Oh well, I'll keep looking. That is one of the very few games I'm still looking for used copies of (well, I'd take a new one but that is very unlikely).

Then at the second BB, I found their SINGLE new game - it was a copy of Midnight Club for PS2. I had bought one of these for $3.75 just a few days before. At this store it rang up $9.99 :whistle2:s. Could have been a franchise store, or perhaps it was a non-GH copy (I forget) and the one I got before was GH. Anyway, YMMV on the clearance price of that one. It was tagged originally as $14.99 which would make it $3.75 after 75% off - who knows why it came up $9.99.

In general, I've found the deals at EB to be easier to do, faster to do, and with much less paranoia (especially when GR went through that "banning" phase last year). However, now that the GR has been around for a while things have started to even out. I'm closer to the GR than any EB for one thing, so it is easier to get to. And they know me pretty well too :D.

On the flip side, I have had very different experiences when it comes to restocking at my GR. They simply don't, of almost anything, ever. They got one single DS lite in and never another. And they still haven't gotten the Tales of Legendia they had on order (amongst several others). They also never got a copy of Metroid Prime Hunters, and never restocked Phoenix Wright like other GR's have. So I am definitely glad I've transferred as much credit as I could (and still have several cheapy games from regular BB's left to trade in). When I'm all done I'll post my total GR->EB conversion numbers. I know others on here (with access to multiple GR's) have done better than me though .

I have a feeling there will be many DS games, in particular, that I will not be able to get there. The problem is, because of the $10 preorder boost, I'm stuck with all these preorders at EB that are harder to get out of than GR preorders, but I'll manage. I'm already regretting my one for Blade Dancer for PSP which is getting horrible reviews. I might just ruin the goodwill I have at one store, that's all - hopefully they will be OK if I switch it to something else.

Plus there's that whole shutting down GR rumor. I still want to have credit there for the Wii and games, and as many DS/PSP/PS2/GC games as I can get in the mean time. But I had enough credit that I really felt like I needed to move some of it elsewhere as insurance. I started moving it to GC at first at pretty much even trades. But then this EB deal came and is just too good to pass up. I bet in the final numbers I will be getting my EB credit at about 150% of the GR credit - and considering that I would take an even exchange for it, that's pretty good.

wiki updated, including Jammer's huge list. I'm sure there are a few games in there that don't exist or weren't released in the US anyway - but I'm tired so I put them all in :D.

Also, someone had a trade quote of $12 for NBA Street Vol 3 for GC. I find that very surprising as it sells for $7.50 new, and previously had been reduced to some minimal amount like most of the clearance games. Was that a mixup with the PS2 version?

I doubt you'll have as much trouble with preorders at EB as you think you will. Whenever I'm at a loss for a title to preorder, they always tell me "It's no big deal, you can always cancel it or change it later." I'm sure as long as you switch them more than you cancel them, they won't care. A preorder is a preorder. It's GR that hates undoing anything.

I went to one of my out-of-the-way GRs yesterday, and managed to find ten credit transfer games. Most of them were on the regular shelves and unmarked. The ones that were marked were not marked to the correct price. Everything rang up as expected, though.

The guy at the register was surprised by a few. However, he knew Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (marked full price) was on clearance once, but he said they had sold out of them when they were on the clearance rack. He seemed to think they had gotten restocked. So it might be worth checking a store you haven't checked since the beginning of the clearance, if there is something specific you are looking for.

I found all the following brand new games at a gamerush near me. 75% of the games were not marked but they rang up the price shown below.

Xbox: Price
Area 51 $5
Blinx 2 $5
Brute Force $3.75
Chronicles Riddick $5
Crash Twinsanity $5
Metal Arms Glitch $5
NBA Street Vol. 3 $7.50
Project Snowblind $2.50
Spawn Armageddon $4.25
SRS $5
Tom Clancy Triple Pack $5
Urbz $5.00

Nintendo Ds:
Texas Hold'em Poker $5
Zoo Keeper $5

Gamecube:
DBZ $4.25
LOTR Return Of The King $4.25
Metroid Prime 2 $5
Scooby Doo Unmasked $5
SRS $5
SSX 3 $4.25
TimeSplitters Future Perfect $5

Ps2
Brothers In Arms Road Hill $5
Castlevania LOI $5
Crash Twinsanity $5
Death By Degrees $5
Driv3r $5
Guy Game $10
Hot Shots Golf Fore! $5
Incredibles $5
Intellivision Lives! $3.75
Manhunt $5
MGS 3 Snake Eater $5
Polar Express $3.75
Rise Of The Kasai $5
Rumble Roses $2.50
WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw $3.75
Xenosaga II $5

Visited one of my standard GRs for lunch to do a little trading and to see if anything was left for credit transfer.

Trades, before bonus, all matching wiki:
Xbox - Red Ninja - $9.50
PSP - Gretzky NHL 2006 - $7.00
PS2 - Virtua Fighter 4 - $1.25
PS2 - Genji - $9.50

So I shop around, and found tons of credit-transfer clearance items. Picked up a total of fifteen titles, and left a bunch behind (nothing was marked, and I didn't want to tie up credit more than I already am). This store definitely got restocked - this is the first time I have ever found a Silent Hill 4 or a Zoo Keeper at any of the stores I visit. What's odd is that there wasn't a clearance bin in sight, and everything was on the racks with normal price stickers. In fact, at least two of the titles had sticker residue where the clearance dot and/or price was removed from the case.

All of the prices I got for clearance matched the OP except for one - Killer 7 on Gamecube was $3.75. (The weirdest part? It had a $14.99 sticker on it - so it was repriced to match the new 75% value.)

This is now two stores with strange clearance behavior in my area. It almost seems as if A) they don't want to advertise the sale anymore, or B) the clearance is about to end, pending a computer update, or C) this is just a strange coincidence local to these two stores.

Could just be that this GR finally decided to pull some games out of "the drawer" and actually put them on the shelves :)

Did pretty well for myself, since three of these were out of my collection:

LOTR: Third Age (GC) - $7 -> $12 (bought it for $10 a while ago)
Summoner (GC) - $6 -> $11 (bought it for $7.50 a while ago)
Mega Man X Command Mission (GC) - $9.50 -> $14.50 (bought it for $15 a while ago)
Real-Time Weapon Change Demo (PS2) - $9.50 -> $14.50 (bought it for $5 an hour ago :D)

So, about $40 in game expenditures into $52 GR credit. I can dig it. Quoted $2 for Astro Boy (GBA), definitely passed on that.

Bought for EB trade-in tomorrow:

MMAC (GC) - $5
Pikmin 2 - $7.50 (strangely this was tagged at $20, but I guess the 75% is based on its old price for some reason)
Rumble Roses - $2.50 (even if they disqualify this as a wrestling title, they give a lot more than $2.50 for it without bonuses)
Clancy Triple Pack - $5 (at least $13 if all three games get the minimum)
Rainbow Six 3 Black Arrow - $5

Forgot to ask about DS preorders though. Ah well. Nothing I want until September, I think.

Man, you people with multiple/restocked GR's are lucky bastards. And Botticus - still finding a MMAC after all this time? Those were completely gone during 50% off at my store (except one I returned when I heard 75% was coming and then repurchased a week later :D). I went to 3 regular BB's today and each one had absolutely NO new games whatsoever. I thought I'd be finding stuff all over the place. Now it appears I was just lucky at the first 3-4 regular BB's I went to that actually had multiple clearance items - since then I've found a total of about 4 clearance games at 7-8 stores, and those games are bottom of the barrel stuff like NFSU and Test Drive. However, each of these stores had accessories marked on clearance - the street fighter and justice league controllers for example.

Don't worry, this store is just about cleaned out. The clearance table that first appeared a week or so ago is now almost down to a one game-deep layer. Not much left that's a straight credit transfer other than a couple more Clancy Triple Packs, so I'll probably not return unless I have more to trade.

Some of the stores around me seemed to have been restocked as well. There were copies of space invaders for the super nes for $24.99 sealed new. The employees had it front and center with pride. The one employee actually said you can see our game priorities when the warehouse is cleaned out and we get junk like this. I believe someone else mentioned seeing a space invaders as well...
