50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:

The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.




Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

My theory is she was annoyed because she had to fill out a credit form when canceling the item (which looked to be an involved pen and paper process) and the complaining about BB losing money was simply redirection of anger. Whatever. I'm the customer, make me happy! lol

Well I called my local BB(without GR) and they only sell used games.... I would only assume they have some cheap used games there.. Maybe later I will check it out....
 
Called a couple Gamerushes around my area for the 360 version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and they both qouted me 60 instead of 30 =(
 
Did you happen to see Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops for PSP on the list?

I know you probably don't feel like answering every question. But I only ask because I was thinking about buying it tomorrow for a trip I'm going on.

Well how about you post what titles you do remember...there must be a few that made you think "Gotta get that!". I'm interested in knowing if PSP Me & My Katamari is included, that would be a must-buy at $10, and X360 Godfather, I'd take that for $20.
 
No, MGS Portable OPS was not on the list. Sorry. However, you migth still check because other Gamerushes may have different stock on hand. The list that I saw was games that they were marking down that they had in stock at that one partiular store. Don't think this one had MGS Potable OPS in stock so....
 
No, Katamari PSP was not on the list, but Godfather 360 was. You still might check on PSP Katamari, because, as Isaid previously, other Gamerushes may have different stock on hand. The list that I saw was games that they were marking down that they had in stock at that one partiular store. Didn't have Katamari PSP in stock at my local store.

Would rather answer questions regarding particular games than attempt to list all I recall, too may to list and probably would have my memory jogged if a particular game was mentioned.

Unfortunately, for me anyway, there were not really any that I felt I wanted to pick up or just grabbed me. Pretty satisifed with my colection right now. Focusing on some upcoming releases.

Thanks for the tip. Hmmm anyone know if they're still charging $59.99 for The Godfather? $30 is still a bit too much, but I'd go for it at $20.
 
I'm hoping Metal Gear Portable Ops shows up on the list... but I don't remember ANY Gamerush I went to having it in stock. I just assumed they never even got it.
 
If I recall correctly, I think Godfather for 360 was priced at $39.99, so half of that .........You might want to verify just to make sure though.
 
No to all three (Kameo,Gears of War, Lost Planet) on the list I saw. You can get Kameo at Target right now, it is on clearance. Saw it for $13.98 at my local Target today.
 
Which titles for the PS2? Is Resident Evil 4 or Kamatari Damacy or Call of Duty in the list?

If there's others, let me know. None of the Gamerushes I talked to seem willing to spill anything about it.
 
Sorry, no to Resident Evil 4 or Kamatari Damacy or Call of Duty on PS2. List was dominated by XBOX games. But I thinkit would still be worth going to your local Gamerush tomorrow just to check it out.

I was at a GR tonight and the manager knew about the additional games, but hadn't yet printed the list. She seemed pretty confident that the new price drops will happen on Tuesday.

That was sort of what I was thinking... Tuesday seems to be the day that they do price drops. I'll check it out this morning and report.

As of last night the price of Godfather for the 360 is still 39.99. I had them ring that one up because of a post saying that it is on the list now. The $20 price must not be in affect yet.
 
Picked up a Fable Lost Chapters for $2.50 last night. I already own the original, but I'm sure the extra stuff makes it worth going through again (its been a couple of years since I beat it).
 
Just got back from two Gamerushes. Nothing new added. Are you sure the new list being added was to take into effect today?

I know you couldn't recall every game on the list, but a sample list of like 10 games would've been helpful to verify the price drop.
 
Nothing at the Melbourne store... same games in the bins, nothing stacked behind the counter to bring out and no signs of anything being pulled.
 
I talked with the store manager at my local Gamerush and she told me that Blockbuster will no longer be carrying new videogames except for 5-10 top titles and even those will only be in stock for a very short time. Tomorrow each Blockbuster will be receiving a list of 160 titles to add to the 50% off promo currently running and that they should be all up for sale at the sale prices Tuesday morning!

How did you get it for $2.50, or is this used? I bought that for $10 when the 50% off sale started. That's more than 75% off there ;) ($2.50 that is).

Well, when the 160 or whatever titles are added, please remember me. I can still trade gift cards for them.

As for the regular BB carrying new games - I've heard something similar. They took them all out of the regular stores around here but the GR manager told me they are bringing them BACK in some time in April. But it makes sense for them only to sell the top selling titles. That's sort of what they did in the past, anyway (mostly Greatest Hits type stuff).

Unless, sam1982, you are talking about Gamerush's as well - that would be big news if they cut way back on new game stock.

D'oh! Of course I just bought that from GR for $30 before they shut down (so, yes, I would expect it to be $15 at 50% off). Too late to return/repurchase. Why couldn't they have just put these damn games on the list originally? :bomb:

One of the former GR guys is working at my local BB. Maybe he'll let me do the return/repurchase, but it is unlikely.

The info the GR manager gave me about sending the new games to my local store was wrong. He sent some used games there. The new stuff went to some other GR.

Again, once this list hits I may ask if anyone can grab a few things. We'll see... So far I haven't seen anything new listed that I'd have to get, but if there are 160 new games, well, then clearly there will be *something*.

Its most likely because alot of the GameRush stores are trying to downsize and close. My local blockbuster used to have an entire 2nd building. They've since opened that up to movies and the GameRush now consists of a counter with a few posters and games behind the shelf.
 
So, what are the new 360 games added? I missed something apparently ;)

I was stopping today to check since I have movies to return anyways.

It was marked $4.99, and it rang up at $2.49. Just lucky, unless there's a YMMV element in play here.

I stopped over to the local Gamerush at lunch. I didn't see a whole lot that I could say was new. However, I did get Mega Man ZX for DS for $15 that was marked for the clearance!
