OTHER INFO

Deals usually end on close of business on Monday and begin on open Tuesday (some special ones do start on Thursday usually around labor day, memorial day, etc.)

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must be 18 and have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush. If you are not 18, you can trade under a parent or guardian's BB acount, but they must sign a trade agreement.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by "flipping" games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to. Remember, discussion of "loopholes" and "flipping" should be kept in the thread linked at the beginning of this post. We've all had a year's worth of discussion on the ethics of capitalizing on the loopholes, but the fact remains - you sign a Trading Agreement and are subject to the conditions you agreed upon. If you abuse the system, chances are it'll catch up to you one way or another.

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).
"Is GameRush going to be selling the Xbox 360 system? "

According to my GR they are planning to take preorders on the system but they do not know when they will start. I think they are waiting until MS gives a MSRP and a date before taking preorders.
I asked this yesterday when I was there and they said they would be selling the system but they are still waiting on the price before taking actual pre-orders for it. Basically, they have a call list they are putting together so as soon as they get a price these people will be the first to be able to purchase Xbox 360 through pre-order.
EB and GameStop seem to be making $$$ off of the 'no deals' business plan. :)
EB and GS have deals all the time, but like another poster mentioned, the deals are well executed.

Deals are not always about making profit, they are a marketing tool to draw people into a business. GR has been using the preorder tool to ensure that people will continue to come in even after the most recent deals expire. I'm assuming most people will check the store out each time they pick something up. I always scour the used section for rare games.

Pre-ordered Killer7 for PS2. A funny note on this Pre-order we know that they have pushed back the release of this until July 7 but when they look it up in the computer it actually still has the June 17 release date.
Their release dates need to be updated. The Blockbusters I have been trading with all have the list of their most wanted/highest value trade-in games, and at the top sits Delta Force Black Hawk Down (been there for a couple weeks now). I believe the games current release date is now July 19th. I imformed them of that, but apparantly it takes too much effort to get out the dry erase marker and take it off the list.

My gamerush was pretty much picked clean of $45 PO games, I had better luck getting newer PO games at a Blockbuster

Same experience with my local BB with the trade-in value for Black Hawk Down being up on that board.

Dang i stayed out of the GR threads for a couple days and all hell has broken loose. Sorry to hear about your troubles Corey, you have contributed so much to this board and it's members we all thank you.

BB is a son of a bitch, i'd recently posted about my local store getting rid of their manager and most of the staff for some unknown reason, i haven't been able to catch up with any of them on Xbox Live to find out why, and replaced them with a new asshat manager and all there new employees are tards. It's a real hassle going into the store and even making a purchase using the b2g1 free deal. Heaven forbid you want to pick up a preorder, the guy who got me my San Andreas preorder the other night was about to cry because he needed help to do everything I was doing. I was doing nothing out of the ordinary either i was simply making a trade (tr3g1$5), picking up a preorder and buying a wavebird battery pack. It litterally took him 25-30 minutes to ring me up. This is becoming a normal occurence at this store........

I've been a loyal customer ever since GR came to my area a little over a year ago. If GR stops all these deals i'll still stop in from time to time to rent movies or games (my 2 free a month from BB.com) and check out the used section while i'm there but thats about it. I'll take my business to EB just a bit up the road where they actually have a cool staff who have a clue about how to do their job.
Does Jampack vol 11 work with the deal? I am thinking no.
NO :booty:

no: sports titles older than 2004(this will prolly change soon, 2006 titles start coming out next month), no freestlye soccer, no demos or jampacks, no Not For Resale labeled games (unless you take them out of the sleeve) hmm what did i forget?

A clerk told me once no wrestling games--not sure if this is 100% true, if not i'm going back at a different time/location and trading it in.

Wow, there's a lot of CAG GR's in my area posting. Here's a couple trade in prices:

Tony Hawk 2 (GBA) - $2
DBZ Saga (Xbox) - $30
Champions Return To Arms (PS2) - $25
NBA Street (PSP) - $26

Oh, and I was lucky enough to find a used Dance Dance Revolution Konamix at one of my local GR's today. It was in perfect condition, so I used the 5 for $15 sale to pick it up along with 4 other games. I was also able to get new copies of SOTN and Chrono Cross with the B1G1 deal.

here's what i traded in today:

nfl gameday 2004 (ps2) - 3 (its 3.99 new at eb)
nhl 2004 (ps2) - 8 (its 2.99 new at eb)
auto modelista (ps2) - 5 (its 3.99 used at eb)

i got 16 total and i picked up gran turismo 4 for $5 and la pucelle tactics for $19.99. i saw my old manager working at this store and he told me that the deals are definetely going to be ending on the 20th. and he said that both deals are for sure going away. he said he thought it was due to the mass amounts of flipping. i just hope that they get another deal that keeps making people come in. i even told him, without the deals, GR is going to slowly fade away.

Sweet, another Northern Ky Cheapass!
The Newport Blockbuster is always on top of everything and they usually have a great selection of used games. The Gamerush Manager is awsome and most of the regular employees know whats going on. The Highland Heights Blockbuster is decent, as is the Florence.

So I think it's pretty much been confirmed by numerous sources that both the trade 3 and the trade 2 deals are ending prematurely on the 20th. I will update the OP accordingly until we hear otherwise.

Dont forget the Fort Wright store they had a great GC selection but i cleared out most the good stuff when i got my GC a few weeks ago. I haven't seen her in a while but they used to have some blonde lady who was the GR manager and she'd always wanna talk about the games you would trade in. Yea it was nice that she was being friendly and personal with the customers but back in the day when i was flipping i hated it. lol

Also they had WEBN there at the Halo 2 release party, i won a copy of the game at like 10:30 but i couldn't have it till midnight.
Anyone know the prices on the 50% off nintendo games?
4.99 for NES Classics.

24.99 for most Gamecube Games, but Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime 2 are 22.50.

Most GBA games are 14.99, the Pokemon titles are 17.50. F-Zero is 9.99, I believe.

This 50% sale also ends on June 20th, wasn't sure if it was mentioned before but I saw it on the barcode on the side of the employee's computer, so if you can update the OP with that, it would be cool.

YMMV... I got rejected at one BB for sports titles older than 2004 but traded them without a hitch at other stores.

Sorry to hear about Cory. That sucks.

What is the 50X OFF Nintendo deal? When did it start/end? And what games was did it apply to? New or Pre-owned? Or both? Thanks. Would Advance Wars 2 be on the list? I saw it for like $14.99 the last time I was in GR.

Thanks for the reply. I had checked almost all 6 pages before I even typed that, but saw no list. If anyone could find it and copy it for the rest of us, it'd be appreciated.

Does the 50% off include the GB Player? Probably not right? :) And is it only 1 Party Nintendo games that apply? I'd like to get Paper Mario, yeah baby! Or does it apply to 3rd party games too? My GR has Metal Arms Glitch in the System for $20. Thanks again.

Exciting find today -- stopped at a regular blockbuster while killing some time before buying movie tickets and found a copy of Arc the Lad Collection for PS1 for only $6.99!

Amazingly enough, it was in pretty good shape (a few very small scratches on one disk, but otherwise perfect disks) -- some of the extras were missing, but for that price it's hard to argue. The most surprising thing, though, is that based on the tag it looks like it'd been sitting there since January. Then again, considering the extreme lack of anything else game-wise and its placement behind the counter (almost missed it, just happened to notice out the corner of my eye as I was about to walk out), maybe it's not too suprising that it sat there for the past several months.

This 50% sale also ends on June 20th, wasn't sure if it was mentioned before but I saw it on the barcode on the side of the employee's computer, so if you can update the OP with that, it would be cool.
i went to pick up a copy of the gba game 'castlevania nes classic' today. it was marked 14.99,so i had the guy scan it and it came up 9.99 like its supposed to. so,i mention to him about the sign that says 50% off (he has to go over and look at it). he comes back and looks confused. i ask him,"i should get the game for 4.99 right?". looking even more confused he says that he has to go ask someone. he comes back with this booklet and after flipping thru the pages he tells me the actual price is 12.99. i tell him,"but it rang up at 9.99." he tells me,"yeah, well they hardly ever update the computer." so, i wind up paying 6.99 instead of 4.99. not a big deal, but i still feel a LITTLE ripped off.

i would compalin or let a manger know what happened. from a former employee, whatever the computer rings it, they cannot mark it up. so i think that you should let an upper management know about it.

yeah i thought about doing that (and i still might),but i was in there for like half an hour trying to buy this one game . i am thinking of trying another gamerush in town for metroid tomorrow and see how it goes there. if they sell it to me for 4.99 (if they have it) then i will show them the receipt from the other gamerush and take it from there.

Traded in SW: Ep 3 for $35. Jade Empire and Forza for $30 each. Got GT 4 for $5. There were 3 of those Hip Wavebird battery packs that rang up for .99 cents/ea so I grabbed those since I actually do have 3 wavebirds. Then to top off a really nice day at GR, I got the GBA classic series Castlevania and Metroid for $4.99/ea. Thank you to Cory and the rest of this threads contributor. I'm proud to be one of you guys.

Charlotte, NC University Gamerush pulled all deals today. Picked up the new MOH anyway since I seem to have a few extra bucks in credit. ;

I took advantage of the 5 Preowned PSX Games for $15 today at Game Rush (Wilsonville, Oregon, the only one in Oregon!) Looking through all the sports games, I found these:

Breath of Fire III (Disc Only)
Intelligent Qube (No Manual)
Legend of Dragoon, The (Greatest Hits)
Legend of Legaia (No Manual)
Star Ocean: The Second Story (No Manual)

Everything was in pretty scratched condition, but they all worked, and Legend of Dragoon looked brand new. The funny thing is, when I opened up Legend of Legaia, an extra disc was in it, and it was Azure Dreams! Paid $15.00 for 6 decent valued PSX games.

Besides that, I also purchased Mario Power Tennis, Star Fox Assault, and Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls at 50% off each. So I got them for a total of $64.96, brand new! Besides that, I also purchased Logitech's PlayGear Pocket for my PSP, which is the best case around.

All in all, the total bill was $99.96, and with $84.56 on my value card (from previous flipping), I only paid $15.40 out of my pocket for 2 NEW GCN games, 1 NEW GBA game, 6 USED PSX games, and 1 NEW accessory. Not a bad day at all.

That's what the OP is for, my friend ;)

nice find on those ps1 games. even if they are scratched, at least they still play. intelligent cube alone is worth that $15. good find

You must have been in after me - I saw the Legaia there (actually I think it has been there quite a while). I didn't see the Intelligent Qube or Star Ocean - but then I didn't look through them all, just glanced at the front.

However, despite just finding out I missed THIS deal :D, I had a very good day at GR. After staying away for a while because of all the banning talk (not that I've done ANYTHING to get banned myself), I was spurred into action by the new talk of the deals ending soon (particularly the preorder deal - I have never used the trade 3, get 1 for $5 deal). I was told earlier by a regular Blockbuster that they are already not doing the $5 PO deal, but now I'm thinking the cashier may have had that mixed up with the $5 bonus deal, so I might try again tomorrow. However, thinking that maybe all the deals were already dead in this area, I went to GR with some anxiety...

No worries, the deals were still going. OK, so what to pick up? I had already preordered everything I wanted in their system for PS2/GC/PSP. I thought I would have to double up on some just to reserve spots and then switch them later. HOWEVER, I had a hunch they might have added some preorders since someone in this thread said they added more Xbox 360 titles. I had asked if anyone else found any new preorders but since no one else has come up with the goods (I was out of town and not near a GR for 10 days), I'll do it myself:

The following are now in their preorder system:

PSP - Star Wars Battlefront 2
PS2 - Okami
PS2 - Tales of Legendia (!!!)

The following are NOT in their preorder system:
PSP - Burnout Legends
GC - Mario Baseball

I felt bad for monopolizing the young lady's time, so I didn't ask about others on my list. Hopefully someone else on CAG can ask about others. In particular, I'd like to know if they have Mario Strikers for GC (unlikely since they don't have Mario Baseball), Batallion Wars for GC, the REAL GC Fire Emblem (and not having it mixed up with the GBA version), Tales of Eternia for PSP, FF VII Crisis Core for PSP, Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus for PS2, and finally, Animal Crossing and Mario Kart for DS.

I dropped a preorder on both SW Battlefront II for PSP and Legendia. I am going back soon to add Okami. The employee there was one I hadn't seen before but she was very friendly and efficient with the computer system. And to top it all off, I got 2 of the Wavebird battery packs, which I was shocked to see still on display (I hadn't known they even existed before they were mentioned here). Overall, one of my more productive trips to GR.

Hopefully at least a few of the other games from my list have been added to the preorder system and I can get a couple more before the deal ends (really, it is very sad). So if anyone goes in this weekend please ask about some of those if you have the time. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested!

^^^^battlefront 2 for psp for $30 is nice, very nice. i will have to ask about that.

my gr lost their preorder sheet :whistle2:/

Picked up a $5 re4 at the first GR and a $5 jade empire LE at the other GR.

I am thinking this weekend will be a most excellent time to buy a crapload of games from gamestop during b2g1 free and then trade them into GR for the preorder deals and $5 deals.

One of the things that usually keeps me from buying much at gamestops b2g1 free is that i cant find 3 games that are the same price that i actually want to play, but now i will just get 3 games (maybe i will actualyl want one or 2, and the rest are trade in fodder)

Just a note/rant about the deals ending. I understand their desire to pull them because of flipping. Of course, I think they should only pull the $5 PO deal :D, which seems to be the primary fuel for flipping. But what worries me is that there have been several comments passed down from GR staff that imply they will have NO more deals like these again. Obviously we won't know for sure for a while - there will probably be a break in any case, which is probably a good thing. If no deals start up by end of summer, we might start to worry - and of course this thread will become a lonely place.

I just wonder if they aren't overreacting a bit. Maybe the deals were TOO good. But that could be fixed with some minor tweaking. I'd prefer they stay away from confusing POX lists like EB, though that is an option. But even just minor changes to the deals should work pretty well - how about trade 2 pay $35 for preorders only (they did have this running briefly in Jan or Feb)? That way people can't snap up new stock - they get good preorder numbers from it, and the discount isn't too much off their cost (the 2 games should make up for it even if they are cheapies). On the PO games, why not trade 2 get any PO for $20, or $15? Since people usually get the $30+ games anyway, this is still a good deal to many (just not flippers). Just some late night thoughts in case we have any BB corporate lurkers :D.

To dracula - Yeah, my GR is definitely funny about their "preorder list". Sometimes they have a sheet that can show me, but other times they claim they never had one or just can't find it. In any case, I've found those sheets to be very incomplete - the best thing, of course, is to ask them to look in the computer. I KNOW SW Battlefront II for PSP is in there because I have a receipt showing my preorder for it (also I asked her 2-3 times before she rang it up to make sure it wasn't the PS2 version :D).

I asked about Okami last time I was at GR picking up my GTA:SA preorder. Their computer has the Japanese release date in the system(Feb. 25th I think it was... of 2005) but the manager said I could preorder it they just couldn't promise when it would come in. I didn't think to ask about Legendia because it's still, I'm guessing with some kind of delay, almost a year away. I'm gonna have to reserve that next I'm in. Thanks for the info.

does anyone know if youre allowed to transfer pre-order credit from one title to another?
ive never really taken advantage of the ""trade 2, get a new release / preorder for $30" (though ive helped guide my brother through it), but would like to unload some of the games i dont play before they drop the deal, though i am not entirely sure what id like to preorder, and was wondering if i could transfer the $20+ credit id be putting towards a game through this deal to a different game in the future if i change my mind, and get a different game for $30.
if not, i guess ill have to be more selective about what i preorder. at the moment, im thinking of jumping on okami (ps2), conker (xbox) & killer 7 (gc)...
also, would it be possible pick up a new release game using the "trade 2, get a new release / preorder for $30", then turn around and return that game for $50 in store credit to use on whatever the hell i want?

Both of those depend on if you get a cool worker to handle things for you or an oblivious one for the return. I think what they do for transfers anyways is just credit the account for the price of the game you already preordered and then preorder the new game for your account using the credit from the cancel of the original.

Returning usually gets you the full $50 back but it's not a certain thing to bet on. If you get someone who kinda knows what they are doing but want to be sure and ask anyways you might be screwed if you have a crappy manager at your GR. It's worked everytime for me but I had a receipt each time and they never bothered to look at any of them they just take it and scan it for return. My friend didn't bring a receipt(they keep all your info on your account so you don't need a receipt) and they told him he could only get the $30 he paid back.

:) I didn't check all of the OP's post, but I did read all the way down to where it mentions Buy 2 get 1 free (that's right before the 50% off deal). So, if I'd known about it before I actually went into the topic, I might've looked for it in the first post. But I thought I had probably seen all the deals before (below that part), so I didn't go down that far. So, yeah, I'm a dork. :) Thanks again.

Anyone know how much they'd get for Metroid, Castlevania, and Zelda 2 at Gamestop? I was thinking of buying them and then selling them at Gamestop or EB.

It is a shame so many games are not in their system yet no Hitman Blood Money no Half-life 2 no Kingdom Hearts 2 no True Crime 2.

Fiddlesticks.

i have spoken to someone affiliated with the company (figure it out from my screen-name) and from what this person told me, there are new people at corporate in charge of gamerush now....they came from....wait for it....EB. so i would expect these deals to end and probably not come back, or if they do come back it will be with a LOOOOOOONG exclusion list, similar to that at EB....

Gamerush is great. I saw that they had the buy 2 used games get 1 free deal and I just couldn't pas it up. I saw KOTOR II for only $30 also, so I got that, Oddworld: Stranger and Project: Snowblind for only $67. If I didn't save my games to keep as a collection, I would use that trade in 3 games, get any PO for $5. Anybody know where I can get some $5 games to use for this deal?

fuck, well we can say goodbye to all the good deals we had. So long to the trade in for an Extra $5, so long to trade 3 for 5 or 10 bucks. All we can hope for now is that they don't do that BS about trade 5 for $50 to get pre-order new games.

Kingdom Hearts II is in there - I preordered that several weeks ago. (looking at receipts - on April 11th actually...). You need to be sure the clerk is looking at their preorder system. I think they are two different menus - if they are just looking at current stock, of coruse they will tell you it isn't in there (I have had this happen a few times and then when I emphasize these are preorders they look in a different place).

I don't worry about what release date they have in their computer (unless they indicate they have the platforms mixed up like with Fire Emblem GBA/GC). They don't know any more than IGN or EB online - and they all have wildly different dates. Unfortunately we just have to keep on top of our preorders and remember what we have and not forget to pick them up when they do come out! :D

I have Hitman Blood Money pre-ordered. Shrug. Then again I did try to pre-order Pirates for the Xbox and they told me that wasn't in the system, despite someone else on CAG having it on their pre-order list. It may be YMMV by store on this kind of thing.
