Well, I got a look at it today, and the deals were mediocre for the most part (i.e. "Buy a DS and get $5 off the DS accessory kit!")

Two good ones, though:

1. Trade 4 games, get one preowned for $5
2. Trade 5 games, get one preowned for $1

I couldn't tell if these included PS1 trades or not.

Extra news: The clerk (it was a Dallas area Game Rush) said that he thought they'd start the "Trade 3, get a Preowned for $10" gig going again, except with no PS1 trades allowed this time.

I have similar coupons that I got from an EGM issue, i think. The 4 or 5 games must be PS2,GC,XBOX, or GBA. I also heard from someone else that the trade 3 deal was starting again.

Where in Dallas? I go to the ones in Plano and Frisco.
 
Anybody hear about the other supposed "deals" during this midnight Halo special? I'm wondering if I should hold off on some purchases if they are going to offer a discount on some games during this event.
 
Ehhh....I may bypass the midnight event and sleep, since I have to work at 7am.

They still better have my LE on Tuesday though
 
There wasn't one for 'Trade 1, get 1 new for 29.99'

I was told that (at least in the DFW area, where Blockbuster is based) they'd start the line at 9 p.m., and each store had only about 50 books, which they wouldn't actually distribute 'til midnight, when they started selling the game.

I don't know that those books are worth 3 hours in line on a work night.
 
3 HOURS!!!! I highly doubt anyone will be at my gamerush. If I do go, I better walk-in, get my game, and leave....it's already paid for.
 
This phenomenon with the anticipated rush for Halo is only because it's the only must have game XBOX has. Makes me want to go out and get an XBOX.
 
I'll definetly be there to get Halo 2 at 12:01AM! And I might play the tournament before hand cause I don't think many people will turn up for it and it might be easy to win some prizes.
 
I hope this is getting blown out of proportion, and I don't have to wait in line too long!!!
I really just want to go in and get my game at midnight, so I don't have to worry about it after work the next day.
 
7 pm the day before GTA:SA was supposed to come out sucked if you were trying to buy ANYTHING else. Huge long lines, and register monkys staying at thier register, so no help what-so-ever.

Cant wait! :)
 
I thought the best coupon in the book was trade any 3 games get either Splinter Cell 3, Doom 3, the new Tom Clancy Ghost Recon, or one other XBox game I think preordered for $19.99.

That's a decent deal....I may have to get one of these books then. We will see how tired I am and my work load at work come Monday.
 
sheesh i think "trade in 5 get any used game for 99 cents" and "trade in 4 get any used game for $5" are both kickass deals, even better if they work with psone sports games.
 
Damn... Since I crashed my car right outside of Gamerush on october 6th after preordering so much shit... I can't imagine trying to get there on a bus. But getting there is the easier part. getting home at 2 in the morning would be fucked!
 
When are they going to cut preorders at for Halo 2 @ Gamerush? And is that deal still going on where you trade one and get a new game for 29.99$?

Mine already stoped preorders- this past Monday. I placed mine on Saturday. The 29.99 deal is a regional deal and its not in my region.

that $19.99 deal is pretty appealing (i already have kotor 2 pre-ordered) but it's hard to get too excited about games that might come out in 5 months (i.e., doom + spl cell)

You can basically get any game you want with that deal....when you preorder it and pay in full for 19.99 it gets marked in the system as paid in full. Then you can go back and ask to switch it to another preorder or even just get the credit back. Whey they cancel your preorder it will credit your account back 49.99 or whatever the MSRP of the game is. It doesn't take into account the amount you actually paid. I've done this twice. Once was when I switched my 29.99 preordered Halo 2 regular to Halo 2 Collectors, they refunded me 49.99 credit and then I traded 2 more games in and preordered the CE for 29.99 again (this store said so many people complained about them asking $5 above the 29.99 deal they just did it for 29.99) Another time was for a game I preordered also for 29.99 but picked up instead at TRU during the B2G1F deal. They just credited me my 49.99 on a value card.
 
anyone know what prizes they will give for the halo tournament before midnight madness? i hope they give a free copy of h2 to the winner(s)
 
i think they are giving away an xbox at the tournament for the gamerush on venice blvd in culver city

Only thing is that they are having a madden tournament, not a halo tournament. The manager said halo is rated "m" and so no one 16 or under would even be able to watch the tournament.

I suggested having 2 tournaments(one for madden for the kids, one for halo for the grown ups, but they didnt like that idea.
 
Just picked up a flyer for the midnight event today, could any Game Rush employees tell us what will be included in the 'Save up to 50% on select games, accessories, and hardware' sale?
 
I got a coupon book and a key chain thingy...yay.

EDIT:Oh yeah, i got there at 10:30, there were maybe 10 people...when i was leaving, it was around 40-50

Same story for me... plus I won a card good for 26 game or video rentals (1 each week for 6 months), a local radio station t shirt, and got to chow on some free pizza while I waited. They were going to be giving away an xbox and a few more copies of the game later, but the place will probably be cleared out by the time they do that. About 10 people when I got there around 10:15. Around 80 people when I left about 12:15
 
some locations had radio stations and what not there (as sniper just said), but not all location were really into it.
 
How long did you guys have to wait?

My friend has one on preorder but I don't so I rather not go at 11:30 if we're gonna spend an hour in line.
 
i was there an hour and a half early, and i picked my game up within a few minutes...but the people farther behind me probably had another 1/2 hour to go
 
I walked into the Brighton GameRush at 11:55 and was home by 12:35. There were probably 40 people ahead of me and 20 behind me when I left. Pretty boring actually. If it hadn't been for the highschool game geeks behind me making innane comments the whole time it would have been much more boring.

And I don't want my coupon book. Any body want to trade with me? I'll throw it in with any trade, ck my list.
 
I have mine pre-ordered, but I'm too lazy to go there and wait in line. I will pick up mine tomorrow during lunch most likely. Besides I want to try and get my pre-order upgraded to the LE (paying the extra five of course), and don't want tons of people behind me waiting.
 
I did preorder mine in California, but since I'm in Chicago, I stopped by a local Gamestop at 11:45pm and walked off at 12:15am with a Limited Collectors Edition without preordering. There was a separate line for the people who paid in full, and sadly that line was going slower even though it seemed like theyd been there longer.
 
My Gamerush ran out of the LEs pretty damn fast. I think they only had like 10 to sell other than the preorders. Oh well.
 
Didn't the flyer say something about "up to 50% off select pre-owned software titles ?"

I didn't see any pre-owned stuff on sale at all, just the "deals" on starter kits, etc. I should have just waited until tomorrow instead of hanging around with all those halo geeks.
 
The coupon book is pretty weak....anyone want to trade for it? I only want one coupon...the trade 3 and get Doom3 for $20

I have no use for the trade 4 or trade 5 games deals...
 
My gamerush didn't have that many people there, maybe 30-40 tops. That being said there were 3 other GR store locations nearby that had 100-150+ people waiting in line.

They ended up raffling a XBOX live kit, copy of halo 2, four Halo 2 T-shirts, several 2-month xbox live free trials, and $5 off a month of GR game passes.

Since I won one of the T-shirts and didnt have to wait in line it was a good experience overall.



I have like 3 coupon books as well and won't use more than 2 coupons so let me know if anyone wants one. (I agree the only decent coupon is the 19.99 preorder one :?
