Damn, I just got a call from that GR that kept repeating that they were in fact going to get 10 premium systems. They called to asked if I would want the core system instead of the "pro". After I had told them that I only wanted the premium (she thought they were called pro) I checked to see how many they recieved.

5 Premiums and 3 core! Not even 10 total systems... jesus.

Anyways she said I was 3 on the list so I would in fact get a Premium for sure tonight.

ya I went in and asked about the launch today and the manager said everyone was getting their preorder but some people had to settle with the core. I told them that wasn't fair since people signed up for the premium system and he said it was too bad once they are out of premiums people have to take the core if you preordered it.

Ha, I hate to say it since it's become almost cliche around here, but that is definitely bordering on bait-and-switch. You pay for, or put a deposit on the premium, and you HAVE to buy the core if they don't have any premiums?

More likely, GR HAS to give you your money back.

(and yes, I know bait-and-switch actually refers to advertising techniques, but I don't think there is any more accurate term that applies to a completed transaction... I guess we could just call it fraud or illegal in general)

You'd be a fool to pickup a core system when u really want a premium, just because they said you have no choice. I would tell them "I'll take a core system but I want you to sell me the accesories for the price difference, or you can stick that core system in the core of your system"

Yah, there is no way they can force people to take the core with their preorder... it states premium right on the preorder reciept. They can allow people to buy the core if they wish with the preorder but not unwillingly.

well thats what the store manager told me. I told him it was bull shit and theres no way I would take a core system.

oh and also i checked up on the kid who said his wild arms alter code f preorder was sold. It had to have been a glitch in the computer because both me and my buddy preordered wild arms and magna carta and according to the computer at the store they said they got both copies of magna carta and wild arms but sold them. Theres no way they would sell 4 preorder copies in a few days. I don't have high hopes for GR but still, doing that would be quite a feat.

It's $67 on the website, but I do remeber seing it at $85 a couple of weeks ago.

Called GR yesterday to see where I stood with the 360. They have no idea until Tuesday!! Whether or not I'm on the list to get one, I'm still heading to Best Buy in the morning. They've "misplaced" my last couple of pre orders and have even tried telling me I'm unable to put my credit onto a card! Luckily there's a few GRs in my area.

Excellent, I know the lady said to call, but I wanted to be in their early so I make sure to get a PREMIUM system. The lady didn't say anything about getting premium or core, so I'll assume it's premium.

It's probably a safe bet that she was talking about the premium systems. Every GR around here has received 6 premium editions and are scheduled to receive 2 core systems.
 
OK, in OTHER (non-360) news :D, we need confirmation that the preorder deal is really ending. and that won't come until someone tries it Tuesday or later. At my GR they are convinced it will continue. I'm going to make one last preorder today, probably, just in case though. Then I really don't have anything left to trade or preorder anyway so I don't really care if it ends (for now). But if they get things like Tales of Eternia (PSP), Suikoden I/II (PSP), Odama (GC), the new Shadow Hearts (PS2), Children of Mana (DS), or Xenosaga (DS) in the system I'd like to get those added so I hope it either continues or comes back. If they just made it a $10 off a preorder deal that would be great (and it would make many of those DS games $25, that would be cool!). That would also put it in line with the $39.99 new game promo.

I didn't check on Shadow Hearts last time I was there - that is the most likely of those games to be added first (or already there).

My GR only has silver faceplates and headsets. I wanted to pick up an extra controller today, but the guy said they have a huge shipment coming in on Tuesday.

Also they have Quake 4 and PD0:LE in stock now.
 
I just got back from my GR and it was dead in there. Anyways I traded in:

Resident Evil 4 (PS2) - $19 (W.T.F.?)
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown (PS2) - $27 (Bigger W.T.F.?!)

and picked up Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (NDS) for $23.84 used, complete. I have $30.16 left on my card, planning on picking up Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) used for $26.50 whenever that comes in. Man, a day earlier and I would have had another $9 on RE4. :cry:
 
I asked at my Gr if they were doing a midnite launch the other day and they told me they were. This morning I'm told that they didn't get approval to stay open the extra hours. Sucky right? A couple of hours later the manager called me to say they just got approval from the district office to stay open and that there's a 360 there with my name on it! What a rollercoaster ride! It IS just a game system but man, I want the thing tonite!
 
yeah, i was shocked too about the value of RE4, until i looked and saw it was a 39.99 game. and i thought it was a 49.99 game when i preordered it. 19 isnt too bad (in proportion to 30 for a 50 [20 knock down from retail]).

Anyways....I thought I read a RUMOR that blockbuster was having a 50% off all PRE-OWNED DVD's and possibly games on Friday from 8am-12pm

Any truth to that rumor? I would get LOTS of pre-owned games.

Microsoft is in charge of shipping units and alotments, not GR. I visited 2 TRU today and neither of them had charge units yet.

WHAAA? Nemesis, is this the case? I was planning on sitting out the Black Friday madness (no *really* good deals and I've become a much bigger cheap-ass since last year when I got up early and rushed to Target to get Tales of Symphonia for $24 or whatever it was). But I can cruise on up to GR at 10-11 AM if this deal is true. I might be in there tonight and I'll ask about it. Hopefully they won't all be in full Xbox360 mode :D.

I doubt that will be the case. I just got off the phone with them and now they are not having a midnight sale (DM won't allow it). They got in five 360s and only headsets and faceplates. They told me I could pick it up tomorrow.

Just for grins, I called the Woodburn Wal-mart. I asked how many 360s they got, she said 14. I then asked how many people were in line...25.

Difinately let me know if there will be a sale on Friday.

Wow, if this is true, I'm going to be VERY mad that I just got CV: DoS for $23.84, when I could've gotten it for $14.98... :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

Yeah, I was just in there tonight and they said they were closing as normal at 10pm. I was going to PM you in case you didn't know :D. But I guess you have learned through experience to call them more than once before driving up. They said they got just enough for their customers - the employees who preordered are out of luck. So 5 of their preorders were in-house, interesting...

Damn, I forgot to ask about the rumored 50% sale on Friday. Oh well, I'm sure someone else will find out before then.

By the way, no Shadow Hearts From the New World in the preorder system, so I put in a second Legendia preorder. Now I have 2 of every big title preordered so I can switch them to other things, or at worst trade them here or sell them on ebay if they won't let me switch. Right now it appears to be much easier to switch preorders, but that changes weekly with the revolving carousel of employees :D.

By the way, the Fry's in Wilsonville has a line about 40-50 people outside RIGHT NOW (10pm) - I drove past after the guy at GR told me about it. I don't know if they are doing a midnight thing or if these people are waiting till 8am. It is going to be below freezing soon, if not already (no rain though luckily). In either case I can't see how it is worth it as Fry's is selling the Xbox360 in a bundle with 4 games at absolutely no discount ($639.95). The games are Madden, NBA Live, call of Duty, and Need for Speed. Even if I wanted an Xbox360 I wouldn't want those games with it...

Should be fun out there tomorrow. I'm going to stay home most of the rest of the week if at all possible :D.
 
Stupid Gamerush! I picked up my Xbox360 tonight, but they still don't have Kameo(WTF?) or PDZ. I am just going to go to Best Buy tomorrow morning and pick up both of them, and then return the GR copies to Best Buy.

Impression of my 360. Well I just got done playing Quake 4 for the last hour. Really,really well done so far. Very crisp graphics and great lighting(that's expected right?) Anyway,

Pro's- easy to set up, easy to set up my existing live membership and wireless controller is very good. Love being able to eject and turn off system this way.

Con's- Huge power brick! Nothing else yet. My Gamerush didn't get any PDZ's. I think that counts!

No, the only accessories they got were a faceplate and headset. A GR employee was pissed. He said something like "that $h!t already comes in the system". No Kameo, but I got my system, so I'm happy. May try to score Kameo somewhere else and either return the GR one or change it to SC4.

Yep that wasn't really unexpected. I traded in Total Overdose the other day and it is the same price and I got $19 for it so can't be to disappointed for getting about half of the price of a game that is 40 bucks. I only paid twenty bucks for each game so in all I beat to decent games and lost only a dollar on both.

Total Overdose PS2: Bought from Target where the price for it was $19.99
Resident Evil 4: Bought of some guy at the local Gamestop a couple of weeks ago for $20 Used.
 
Just went to Gamerush.com and it looks like there is no end in site for the Pre-order deal. Also based on the rules stated on the site you shouldn't be able to use the Pre-order deal on Xbox 360 titles but that is YMMV since some GR let people do this. They also have certain games featured like the new Prince of Persia and Zelda of all titles to still pre-order.

Reminder: All new titles for PSP, NDS, PS2, and Xbox that are normally $49.99 new will now be only $39.99 new. Need verification that this deal starts on 11/22/05 so someone that goes to pick up their 360 today update us on this one.

I can confirm. They had a bunch of flyers about the $39.99 deal, and I confirmed with the GameRush employee that the preorder deal has ended. I didn't actually try it, but the person is usually pretty knowledgable about the deals.

In any case, it took me all of about five minutes to pick up my system and three games. I didn't preorder any of the games, just decided on the spot what to get. Also, she mentioned they had only received 6 systems instead of the expected 10. Since I was on the top of the list, I had no issues.

They had a decent stock of games (only Kameo appeared to be missing), with about two or three copies of each. Rental stock was a little lower, and yes, they are requiring a credit card to rent. Didn't rent anything - the only title I would have considered renting wasn't available yet. No accessories except faceplates and headsets.

Overall, after using up my credit, I paid a little over $30 out of pocket for the premium system and three $60 games. I'm pretty happy. :)

I came in last night asking how the system pre-orders would work, and they told me "As long as you're in the top 6 pre-orders you should get your system". I was number #2, So I figure I can pick up my system after school. I come in at 11am, and they tell me they already SOLD ALL 6 PREORDERS.

WHAT THE fuck!

Now the CSR tells me: "It's 1st come, 1st serve!"

So in retrospect some guy could have pre-ordered it last week, and I pre-ordered about 5-6 months ago, and he would of got it first. This is such fucking bullshit! I am so done with gamerush after this, I'm only coming back to help them progress to chapter 11 with D2R2 deals.

They fucked up bad, and there's nothing I can do, and here's the kicker! They told me that the NEXT 360s MIGHT come in after XMAS. fuck Gamerush.

That is not GR policy... they should have numbered the boxes when they were getting ready to sell this morning... 1 - 6... in the order they were pre-ordered. That is how they did the PSP and DS pre-orders...

i think billlyknoxville has a legitimate excuse to be angry. he was number 6 out of who knows how many preorders and was misinformed by an employee. if i were him, i would definitely talk to a dm about the situation and hopefully get some kind of compensation.
