Games for Junk Ass Computers.

Okay, I'm hella-cheap, and my computer hella sucks.

I need some games to play.

My computer specs are.

Processor - 560mhz
Ram - 256
Hard Drive - 100 gig
Video Card - 32mb

any ideas on what I can get?

You should be able to play Starcraft...$20 for the battle chest...and if D2 will run on your system, that will give you hours upon hours of fun too. Ahh, Blizzard...where would we be without you...

If you can find them:

X-Wing/Tie Fighter Series
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Grim Fandango
Alpha Centari
Jagged Alliance 2
Janes Fighters Anthology
Seven Kingdoms
Sim City 2000

Richlough, Are they really bringing back the Trans Am in 2007, built on the new Camaro? That is a nice looking ride!

No , it's just a PhotoShop drawing from this months Hot Rod magazine .
There's an article in it about cars they need to re-make .

The Wing Commander Series, Deus Ex, I definitely second Worms Armageddon or Worms World Party, the Janes games (some are really a bitch to get working on XP, I've had a hell of a time messing with Jane's USAF), emulation (uhh.. if you own the original old consol games), and then there's flash games. You can get a ton from just basic searching, or maybe go over to Newgrounds.com if you want some humor. Starcraft and Warcraft II should work just fine, and Warcraft III should be able to run if I remember right (with a few settings turned down of course). Worms Armageddon is actually still played online through Team17 and I believe a couple of fan servers.

Edit: Wait, I just noticed the processor speed, scratch Warcraft III :) Also, look into any and all of the old Sid Meier games

ROCKET JOCKEY from sega.... it was fun in a weird way.... also, resident evil 1 ran well on an even crappier pc i once had (if you have a gamecube, then get thr REmake)

also... older fighters like x-men children of the atom, samurai shodown 2, fatal fury 3 and super sf2 turbo (dos mode or good emulation)

If you like a good FPS, I highly recommend Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. It's a FPS played in and out of a mech. Very solid gameplay and it even has a branching storyline for two different endings.

I've been wondering the same thing, any ideas on what the best games I can run on my system? (i'm not too computer smart :whistle2:#)

Here's my specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4, 2.66 GHz
RAM: 511.0 MB
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Free Disk Space: 97.6 GB

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.

[/sarcasm off]

Your Pentium 4, 512MB RAM system should run most anything you throw at it, even with your lower-end video card. By "Junk Ass", I think they were talking about Pentium 1 (or even older) systems.

I agree. Shogo's a pretty fun game.

I played it all the time in our web design class when I was in high school via the school's LAN. Our teacher got pissed but after he played it he never said anything about it again. Every once in a while he'd even sign on and play against us.

A few that i can think of is:

Rainbow Six +add on
Rainbow Six: Black Arrow
Blood 2
Hexen 1 and 2
Heretic
Can't forget about the Doom series and Wolf3D for a hint of classic class lol

Concerning the old system:

Although I'm temped to go balls-out and list some of the best games out there, I will only indulge myself until I get tired and can not think of a single other game that will run on your system...

Little Big Adventure (a.k.a. RELENTLESS: Twinsen's Adventure)
Little Big Adventure 2 (a.k.a. Twinsen's Odyssey)
Oddworld: Abe's Oddyssey
Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
Heart of Darkness
Out of This World
Flashback
Prince of Persia 2 (KICKS ASS)
Day of the Tentacle
Loom
Monkey Island 1-4 (YES I SAID FOUR)
Sam & Max HIT THE ROAD
The Dig
Diablo
Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist
The Adventures of Lomax
Space Quest 1-6
Leisure Suit Larry 1-7 (please note that LSL4 does not exist)
The Adventures of Willy Beamuth
Alone in the Dark
Broken Sword 1 and 2
Worms (!!!)
Lemmings (!!!)
Beneath a Steel Sky
Stunts (this is more of a joke)
Civilization
StarCraft
Dune II
Command & Conquer
WarCraft II
Legend of Kyrandia 1 - 3
Discworld (go for 2, unless you want to be frustrated, or a hardcore adventure fan)
Discoworld Noir (kicks so much ass)
Grim Fandango (if you have not played this you have not lived)

SYSTEM SHOCK 2
DEUS EX

I have tons of others, but I'm informed by a friend that I have to post in some other, less entertaining topic...

There are literally TONS of great old PC games. In fact, so much, that you should look here:

http://www.the-underdogs.info/

Happy Playing.

EDIT: The Bold games that I thought you could not live without.

If you need help finding ANY of the old games, ESPECIALLY the CD versions of some of them, PM me.

Notice to administrators: I DO NOT CONDONE SOFTWARE PIRACY, THANK YOU DRIVE ON THROUGH.

StarCraft, StarCraft, and StarCraft. That game will easily run on your PC, when I first played it 7 years ago I have a 133mhz pc and it ran very well. I still play that game to this day, so if you do not own it then go buy it. Now.

Well my comps basically the same, so I suggest:

Halo
Cod 2
Beyond good and evil
Mohaa
guild wars will work somewhat decently
cod1/uo
praetorians
stronghold games

all those I've tried and they all worked fairly well. I play cod 2 with my awful computer and pathetic fps and I'm still usually one of the top players, so it shouldnt matter much. My comps actually probably worse than yours...or was. But ya all these will work, and most of them are quite fun.

Definitely the first few Command and Conquers. People will say Starcraft and Warcraft and I say BAH to them! C&C is where its at!

Here are a few more good games you should be able to run that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Heroes of Might and Magic III
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate II
Icewind Dale
Icewind Dale II
Planescape Torment
Fallout
Fallout 2
Dungeon Keeper
Dungeon Keeper 2
Startopia

Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III

You can run many recent games but at low frame rate, even at low settings. Examples include Unreal Tournament 2004 and Guild Wars

DO NOT do C&C...I can play all the games above, but C&C just did not work. It took about 1 hour to watch the tower blow up on the first level. Thats actually the only game that I've played that gave me such bad framerate or w/e

Dude what kind of crack are you smoking? That rig can't be more than 4 years old. With that said, if you simply upgrade your RAM to 1 gig and your GPU to say.. a nVidia 6800 GT... you would be able to pull some decent frame rates with today's latest games. That upgrade alone would only cost you about $200.

However, if you leave your system the way it is now I'd bet you can play just about anything up to Far Cry which was released 2 years ago.

Planescape Torment:
Awesone RPG based on D&D rules and runs on an improved Balders Gate engine

Flying Heros:
An FPS, but you are flying on Dragons and Magic Carpets.

Nox
A good diablo clone that came out before Diablo II.

Ago of Empires II
The trial version was fun and ran fine on my celery 600.

Unfortunatly I have no idea where you'll find these other than Ebay.

Yeah! Using amazing strategy such as "BUILD AS MANY PRIZM TANKS AS POSSIBLE" you can go "FTW."

Please. BAH is going right back at you.

I want to point out that your inability to play old games is hardly a good reason for someone to "STAY AWAY" from a game. If you don't know how to fix "bad framerate or w/e," perhaps you should ask, rather than put a cross on the game.

The first C&C was awesome. RA was awesome. The rest were just meh... Generals was mind numblingly easy and almost offensive.

Saw this older thread, so figured why bother starting a new one---

I have a basic laptop: 1.4ghz Celeron M, 1.25g ram, Intel Mobile whatever graphics.

I downloaded the FEAR and Far Cry demos and I can play them on low settings. If I buy the full versions of the games would I still be able to play them on low settings or do some retail versions of games have different specs than the demos? I don't expect to have this laptop be a gaming rig, but if I could play a few games here and there on it I'd be happy.

BlaqRenaissance: Wow, that is a better computer than what I have. I think that you should be able to run most games out there, of course not the new ones like BF2 or Oblivion. Star Wars Battlefront II is quite fun, and it runs great on my comptuer (P4, 2.3GHz, 512mb RAM, 64mb shared graphics).
