I really love the starfox games....so I'm wondering are there any other games out there that are similar? I would also prefer they have a ship view as opposed to in the cockpit view. I could never get into cockpit view...I guess that is why I don't like FPSs either.

You might want to give Vanark for ps1 a shot. Its the same kinda shooter with "RPG" elements (read: wander around in between missions). I found it to be a really fun little shooter, its kinda hard to find but really cheap.

Thanks I'll be on the lookout for it. If anyone knows any others let me know please.

I don't own an xbox but I would grab orta if I did. I own Star X....it is pretty decent. I also own Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike but have yet to play it...haha....CAG Syndrome. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Here is a list of rail shooters:
Panzer Dragoon (Saturn)
Panzer Dragoon 2 (Saturn)
Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox)
Rez (PS2, Dreamcast)
Sin and Punishment (Japanese N64)

These are a little different, but I would still say they are rail shooters:
Temptest 2000 (Saturn, Jaguar, probably elsewhere)
Internal Section (Japanese PSX)

There is also Starfox 2 on the SNES which is only available in pirated form because it was never officially released. While it isn't really a rail shooter (it's more like the free roaming parts of Starfox 64), it is a Starfox game that you might want to try.

That's what I was thinking, only Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader is much better. Rebel Strike has the Rogue Leader missions for 2 player co-op play, but the single player mode is full of crappy on-foot levels, just like Star Fox Assault. Unless you liked that part of SFA, that is.

I think most of you guys are listing games that are nothing like most of the starfox games. I think jkram was asking for rail-type shooters, wasn't he?
No one said Crimson Skies for Xbox? I liked the little I played of it.
Yep forgot all about that. The little tricks you can do with the plane are a lot like the moves you can pull in Starfox. I got that one cheap on my tradelist OP

Yeah I am intrested in rail shooters similar to Starfox. I prefer seeing the ship rather than a cockpit view. I have played Rez...I liked it but the hype killed it for me a little bit. I don't have an XBOX. I also have Rogue Squadron II for the CUBE which I have yet to play...guess I should give both a shot huh? I played Star Wars Starfighter and didn't care for it too much. I have also played the ROM floating around of Starfox 2. I'll have to check out Colony Wars as well.

I think I will go after getting a copy of Vanark....I read a lot of the reviews and it actually compared it to Starfox. Thanks guys.

Yeah, I liked that one a lot. It's kind of arcade-y like Starfox, but obviously closer to the free-range stuff. Nice fantasy setting with some epic moments, though.
