Games to beware of buying used - Will save you money even though it's not a deal

This idea is extremely useful. The only thing is could you possibly say which version of each game is the best value? Like if I am looking for little big planet for the PS3, which version gives me the most content for my buck. Also there are GOTY's like Fallout 3 which can be bought used because all of the content is on the disc and can be installed on multiple consoles, I would also like to have these listed somehow.
I don't think the mods needs to do anything with this post. This is a fantastic idea. I didn't know there was DLC bundled with Driver: San Fransisco, and I was looking to pick it up used. Now I know to avoid doing so.
Yeah. That game has the UPlay voucher in it, which if I remember correctly gives you access to the mp and a theme for your respective console as well as some DLC.

Correction: It has the theme, exclusive challenge, bonus police car and extra challenges listed on the voucher. Nothing about online play is listed on it though.

Say you buy a game with the online pass code, is that code reuseable (if needed) or a one time use code? Do game boxes state on them that the game requires an online pass?

May as well add Twisted Metal to the list. There is roughly 3 hours of single player fun youll enjoy unless you buy the game new. Plus you dont get TM:B if that matters to you.

there is ebay, plenty of sellers sell the online passes/codes for cheap

gamestop was also running the B2G1 deal and had codes printed on the bottom of the receipt (was for batman and uncharted 3)

>Post that helps a lot of people out
>People bitch

I'm still waiting for that one magical thread where someone is giving stuff away practically and posters chew out the OP anyway.

Not reusable, usually no indication.. hence the need for this thread.
To be honest, I didn't know F3AR had an online pass. I know to pick up a new copy instead. So, this thread has already served its purpose for me.
Opened my copy tonight to check it out and it turns out that the online pass unlocks 2 more mp modes each with 3 maps. F*cking Run is 4p co-op to get to an extraction point before the wall of death catches you, a mode which a lot of reviewers really seemed to like, Soul Survivor is a horde mode where a random player gets possessed by Alma and must compromise the others. So you can play half the online without it, but not the the coolest sounding mode. Also, my $5 copy from Best Buy during december had the preorder bonus in it.
Also, I kinda chuckle at how many people think that since a used copy of a game doesn't include online mp access it's suddenly gimped to where it's half a game. Plenty of games have more than enough content to keep you going for hours and hours(and sometimes tens of hours if you explore in the case of open world games).

If you've ever seen any of my very long diatribes you'd probably think that was a short post.:booty:
While I agree about most randoms online it still feels like you're getting shorted to me and losing out on a chance of having a lot of fun in mp. You should at least have the option in my opinion.

Also, I thought of some of your posts when making that one:)

Woulda been pissed like when I got Dragon Age 2 just to find out it had an "online pass."

Coulda sworn there was a thread about on disc GOTY style DLC somewhere here.

I picked up AC 2 and AC: Brotherhood used not too recently. I thought Uplay unlocked just by playing the game and linking the account or is Uplay how their online passes work?
Say you buy a game with the online pass code, is that code reuseable (if needed) or a one time use code? Got tired of poring over boxes and looking at the fine print. It's usually listed somewhere, sometimes in a splash, usually in the fine print, but I think at least a few games don't mention it. As already answered, they are one time use codes.
May as well add Twisted Metal to the list. There is roughly 3 hours of single player fun youll enjoy unless you buy the game new. Plus you dont get TM:B if that matters to you.
TM:B? Is that a DLC bonus?

Thanks for the input. I'll put more in the list the next few days as I've been taking care of two sick kids and a sick wife the last few days. Got maybe 3 hours of sleep in 20 minute intervals last night. Also, leaves little time for CAG. I'll add more as you guys and gals post them, thanks.

That's the thing though. The Uplay voucher doesn't mention being needed for online play. It just mentions extra cars and some Driver theme being redeemable with it. I'm tempted to Google the theme and see if I can find out what it looks like. If it unlocks it for use on the PS3 and is a nice dynamic theme I might just temporarily replace the LBP one I've been using almost constantly for at least two years now with it.

Yeah. There seems to be something really nasty going around. I just got over being sick as a dog for two weeks myself.
