Games you've changed your opinion on?

As the title says, I am wondering what games you've changed your opinion after you progress so far or maybe at a later date? I bring this up as it has recent happened to me a couple times. I've been working on The Witcher, as I hate playing games out of order, so I've been working on the first one before I pick up the second one. I like the story and world, but the gameplay hasn't kept me dying to keep going. So I thought I would take a little break and play something else as well. I've never completed Bioshock, when it came out I just never really got the hype...But now I totally get it! In fact I really don't know what I didn't like about it? Needless to say I have completely put The Witcher on hold until after Bioshock is done.

This also happened earlier this year to me with Bad Comapny 2. Don't get me wrong I love the multiplayer part of the game but the campaign I'd started and played maybe 45 mins and I've had the game since release. Anyhow, I recently completed this and I actually really like the campaign part of the game.

So what has it been for you?

Final Fantasy VIII. On my first playthrough, I didn't like the story, thinking most of the characters and writing were pretty bleh, but nevertheless played through to the end.

My second playthrough came about because I happened to be thinking about the game's Junction system (and to a lesser extent, Triple Triad) and something just clicked with me. I played it again, shrugging off the more annoying bits and just having a good time playing with the system and doing most all of the sidequests, including Omega Weapon, one of the toughest monsters in any Final Fantasy. I had a lot of fun the second time around, and also grew to appreciate the soundtrack in the process, which I now rank as Nobuo Uematsu's best. Squall, who I didn't much like the first time around, has also grown on me as a character (his Kingdom Hearts appearances certainly didn't hurt, either). A third playthrough is not out of the question for the future.
