Gamestop/Amazon: Final Fantasy XV XB1/PS4 $39.99

Stole this from Neogaf and it only works if you have Amazon prime.

Get a free 2 month subscription for Audible on Groupon.
Activate it and sign in to your Amazon account on the audible website.
You should get an email for $25 free Amazon credit.

Got the game for $10.
I went on groupon.com but dont see anything about an Audible offer.

I went to Wal-Mart to price match and get a copy today since I don't have PRIME. Lady asked me if I wanted disc or digital. I asked if I could price match digital and she said of course so long as it's the same game on one of those digital game cards. Not sure if this is a new policy or just random lady doing what she wants, but I got FFXV for 34.99 digitally at Wal-Mart.

Good god, its been like EVERY game this year. Just a matter of weeks and its 40 or 30. Have games been doing this regularly? Maybe I've just been paying more attention this year since a bunch of stuff came out that I wanted...

I'm so fuck ed that I missed out on the Audible deal. This sort of thing where I miss out by just minutes really infuriates me.

I still suggest you do avoid such a scenario. Amazon is very responsive company, and promo credit policies may change any time. So best course of action is just to place the order and leave it there.
Oh, yes. I completely agree. It was unlikely that I would cancel anytime soon anyway, I decided that I would rather be safe than sorry and probably just wait until around the first week of February before I canceled it.

you chose digital over physical on a rpg? blasphemy

Frankly, I fear it such drops may spell much trouble for the kinds of games we're going to be seeing in the future. I'm in the camp that F2P games are a plague on the industry, and are only going to mean more micro-transactions and incomplete releases (e.g. buy the disc, get an episode and IF it sells well, may be the developer makes 3 or 5 more for you to buy) ...

Meanwhile, we're fortunate if a first party Nintendo game sees any sort of price drop in its first year after release.

Price drops are ultimately controlled by the publisher. You do know that based on a landmark Supreme Court case (can't recall the case off the top of my head - but it was decided a while back), retailers are actually prohibited from selling items below a certain price unless consented to by the (in this case) the publisher. Nintendo games *rarely* go down because Nintendo won't allow it.

When games drop the way they do, it's not merely because a retailer wants to get *rid* of it. It's because the publisher -- who probably is seeing really bad sell-through data -- needs to move units.

Of course, price drops are not always because a seller sees bad sales data - I would argue Sony's aggressive moves with the PS4 price in past years was based on trying to keep momentum, and to kick Microsoft while their down. Now, on the other hand, its moves are probably based on some fear of Xbox One's slow but steady rises in sales performance - not that Xbox will ever pose much of a real threat to Sony this generation.

Bottomline - the prices are up to the seller. Good games tanking are not a *new* thing, but we seem to be seeing more and more AAA games (e.g., Doom, Titanfall 2, FFXV ... and now even COD) collapsing in price shortly after their debut. It means publishers aren't seeing the sales numbers they need and that could soon mean publishers unwilling to spend the dollars to make AAA, console games.

Sure, there's a lot to unpack in terms of *why* good games fail (marketing, design, timing, etc.), but there is something to be said about how consumers are valuing AAA console games compared to the growing pervasiveness of F2P and <$1 mobile games ... those games monetize their development in a way that IMHO would be very bad for console games.

We've already started to see some of the effects in DLC, patches, micro-transactions, episodic releases, etc. and these aren't all bad things. However, drops like these may mean some fundamental changes will have to happen on the publishing/developers' ends to better monetize their games.

It's a tricky and complex business - and while lots of choice and dropping prices are good for consumers -- well, it also means that as consumers pick certain games, the industry may leave other sorts of games behind (JRPGs ... I'm looking at you).

I mentioned that you need prime in my first post. Let us know if you get the credit though! Would be cool.
Got an email today saying that I am ineligible for the offer, but that they would give it to me anyway. The FF15 offer expired so I guess I have to buy something else now.

I couldn't find this mentioned anywhere, but Final Fantasy XV is currently on sale at Gamestop and on Gamestop.com -

XBox One -

http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-one/games/final-fantasy-xv/125320

PS4 -

http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/games/final-fantasy-xv/125318

Preowned isn't available for shipping, but if you can find it at a local store, you can use your Cyber Monday coupons with it. I just got back from my local store and I stacked a $25 and a $10 coupon to get a copy in perfect shape for $2.69 out of pocket. Pretty sweet deal if you can find one.

Hmm wonder how long it will be on sale. If it started today you would think it would last through Tuesday 12/27

Same. Weird stuff honestly i talked with two CS operators, one told me they had opened a case with a promotions specialist, but i made him understand that if it wasn't something that could be easily fixed to just leave it, The other one didn't offer anything at all and simply said that i was not eligible for the offer because of the Groupon Audible coupon.

Wasn't expecting anything but regardless i got a email today from someone at Audible CS with the 25$ code. Looks like Amazon USA is the most flexible one out of all of them.

Anyways here's a two month free Audible gold code that i spared from the Groupon deal. Enjoy

Just think of it as the technology adoption curve and it's not concerning at all to see prices doing this. If anything it's the video game industry really starting to understand how to maximize profits.

Wow, thanks to this sale, a 20% off pre-owned birthday coupon, a random $5 rewards certificate, and a $5 bing rewards gift card I got a used copy for $24 out of pocket. It even came with a working code for a day-one weapon.

For a rewards certificate to stack with the birthday coupon the salesperson has to enter the certificate first. She was nice about having to void and re-do the process. I see Gamestop employees get a lot of crap, but except for one they've all been pleasant in my experience.

I think I'll wait till later in 2017 and when this game goes on sale for 29.99 (or less?), then I'll bite. But those with GCU and/or rewards and certificates, yeah, that's an added bonus if interested in getting the game! Congrats!

Of course all the new COD games drop because they are basically recycle GARBAGE.

The amount of FPS uses the same coding so there is very little work needed to go into the game except some small tweaking here and there, except for paying for "talent" to do some voice overs.

But the fact is most people lost the enjoyment of leveling up and character building that is known for RPG, in favor of now and quick and just shoot them all with the best weapon you could download...
