So after last weeks craptacular deal, we have a winner from GameStop.

They are running a Buy 2 Get 1 Free, which is always a good deal, but combine that with your gamestop card, and the additional 10% off coupon in this months Game Informer, for a very good deal.

I need some advice. My Gamestop has two copies of Persona 2 and a copy of Rhapsody used totaling 60 bucks (after b2,g1). Should I grab the second Persona 2 and use it as trade bait or pick up a second game like Lunar DS, ROTK VIII, or whatever other random decent RPG/DS/fighting game is hanging around?

Both Persona 2 and Rhapsody are relatively worthless now. I wouldnt recommend getting 2nd one for trading.
 
After scoring Fire Emblem:poR for free last night, I have to stop by my Gamestop today again and pick up Stella Deus, Makai Kingdom and Ikuraga (all look like mint and complete) for $48.23 plus tax. Sweet, I pretty much clean out all the decent games available there.

i asked the lady if i could use the coupon and she said they wanted to but couldn't do it after corporate sent them an email saying not to. :whistle2:( still not a bad deal tho if you can find some decent games.
 
Is the discount card worth it for $15? I don't buy many used games.....how is the Game Informer magazine? A free subscription is tempting me to get it.

dont get 2 copies of rhapsody, that game is utter garbage, it has been said before, people used to want the game because it was made by atlus and it was rare, but then they drop $30 on it and realize they are stuck with a music game with singing fairies with horrible voices.

buying one of these games now would be a mistake, buying 2 of them would be disasterous.

I think it's worth it. Before I was not tempted to buy GS discount card since EB's is much cheaper. I don't usually buy used game either but I already made back that $15 during 2 B2G1 free at GS and the current B2G1 sale continues save me some more money. I find more rare games or games that I want at GS than at EB too. After you saved $15, it's like you're getting a free subscription to GI. Additional saving is bonus. ;)
 
Any clue how fast store transfers take? None of the stores that I'm planning on hitting have Puyo Pop Fever, but a couple others in the area do. I'd rather just have them transfer it to another store if it could be done by Saturday.
 
If only they took EB GCs at Gamestop. I asked a GS employee last weekend and he said since they are already technically merged that it should be happening soon. They should take EB Edge cards as well. I ain't paying $15 for the GS card when I can get one for $5 at EB.

Botticus, I didn't realize that GS would do transfers. Is that a store-by-store thing or a nationwide policy? There are some GSs near me that have Phoenix Wright but it's too far for me to drive. If they would do a transfer that would be sweet!

I've never done it, but I've heard of many others. Not sure what their restrictions or policies are on this nationwide. If I find out this GameStop that has Puyo Pop is in the middle of the ghetto, I'll see about requesting one.

I did the ghetto tour during the GameCrazy 3 for $15, and I ain't doin that again ;)

I like Rhapsody. I thought it was cute...

I just went to Gamestop today. They let me use my card and the extra 10% coupon. On top of that he also let me use the extra 10% on trade-ins coupon too. Got Spartan Total Warrior, Timesplitters Future Perfect, Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Devil May Cry Special Edition for about $60. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

I think they have a freeze on transfers for right now. I think it's because they recently did inventory and they can't ship anything for almost a month afterward. Ebgames also can't do transfers due to the Gamestop merger. Once that's squared away, that option will open again.
 
what if i bought 2 games prior to the sale but within 30 days? can i bring the receipt in and get an adjustment for a free game (less than lowest priced game)???

Used games have to be returned within 7 days...so if it was over 7 days since you purchased the games, then you are out of luck.

BTW, I purchased Magna Carta, Dragon Warrior VIII, with Wild Arms 4 free.
 
Also receipts only won't work - you have to take the games too. I know, I tried. Took in receipts for "several" Kuon & ENB bought last week. No dice and somehow I don't have but 2 personal copies to return to get the credit...hmmm...how did that happen? :)

Technically it will work. I did the same with Kuon/ENB/Sphinx. He returned and rebought them just using the stock numbers. YMMV on that one. If you only had those two games on the receipt and wanted to get a third free, that might be the difference.

The stores I saw it at were game only so I passed.

I got Magna Carta today and it had everything it came with new. Not bad when you buy it used in this B2G1 free sale and get 10% off. I hardly ever buy new games anymore.
 
can I buy 3 games from 1 store (all same price) and exchange one of them at another gamestop for a game I want?

I can't find 3 games i want from this one gamestop but I know the other gamestop in town has the 3rd game i want..

Yes, this will work. Just take all 3 games you purchased and go to the other GameStop. They will let you exchange for the game you want as long the price is the same or under. I've done it today.

I didn't know that.I have a hard time finding the right game at the right price.I mostly pick rare games and dump it on ebay and keep the ones I want.I guess it too late for that.

Anyway,I got ok haul today and yesterday.Most of the games came complete.At least I picked 5 new phoneix wright along the way(1 display copy,2 small rip in the shrink wrap and 3 new)

I know the game was awful.I played through the entire game from start to finsh.My friend wanted to try the game after finshing secret of mana. I even told him how horrible the game was and he didn't care.Plus,gamestop was selling $20 a piece with the buy 2 get 1 free it comes to 13.33 a game I will purchase it with that price.Also,I was planning to sell the rest on ebay or to any cheapassgamer.It kinda good that the 2 didn't work and trade it for breath of fire 2 and wild arms.

Magna Carta was game only. However, I went to another GS today and they had MC with the box and book....will do an exchange.

King Kong (360), Condemned (360) and Call of Duty 2 (360) for 84 dollars today =p

cashier entered 20% off (10% gamestop card + 10% game informer coupon) and then when he scans the gamestop card, it took another 10% off =p

i know..i got lucky, he messed up =p

A Manager at my local Gamestop said the Execs sent an Email out telling Gamestops they aren't supposed to let you use the coupon with the B2G1F deal. So I don't think anyone else is going to be getting away with it. I tried this morning and got shut down! :(
 
Oh yea BTW. I got Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Growlanser: Generations, Stella Deus, Wild Arms 3, Zone of the Enders, and Dragon Quest 8 for a combined $120. I got my manager to ship in Growlanser and Disgaea from another store so I could buy them with the B2G1F deal. :)

Yeah that was me who got Magna Carta complete with everything in this sale. With my other 2 games it came out to about $25 each. $25 for a complete mint Magna Carta. Woot!
 
If the deal is still going on tomorrow, I'll head back to one of my local GS's and pick up a few DS games for my sons. None of the stores in my area had much of anything that I was looking for, but I did pick up:

Perfect Dark Zero Collector's Edition - 360
Ape Escape: On the Loose - PSP

There were a few more 360 games at a couple of the stores, but all were disc-only. I refuse to buy any game that doesn't include the original case, insert and manual, unless the price is so ridiculously low that it's too good to pass up.
