Gamestop B2G1 June 16th possibly YMMV

As I was flipping games today (went to 5 gamestops) I noticed one store had B2G1 signs up. Grabbed 3 strangleholds and walked up to the register, the Manager looked at the signs and sighed and said they weren't suppose to be up till the 16th so he did the over ride and I got the deal.

Might be YMMV, need someone to confirm. Either way might be worth it to save store credit that we are building up through trading now for next week. Again this might be YMMV, need someone else to confirm as well.

*edit* this was at a Mi store

Sounds like you've been prostituting yourself... :)

...Thanks for the B2G1 heads up...

Afraid I am going to have to spend my money on Metal Gear this week.

Have you thought of purchasing a wallet?

Why 3 strangleholds?

Worth 36 each at BlockBuster :), with the edge card it was a great flip. MGS4 will be super cheap for me.

Sorry to ask, but what does "flipping" mean? I'm not that familiar with terminology and I couldn't figure out what it meant even though I saw it used a bajillion times in the Game Days sale thread.

Buying a game at one store and trading it in for credit at another (not to be confused with fruad, returning a game new to a different store)

Also sorry that I dont know all the details, just saw the signs and over heard the manager, im not a GS employee

Buying a game and reselling it elsewhere for a profit.

I'll have to check when I get in to work tomorrow, but it seems likely. You figure, the last B2G1 was when GTA IV launched. There's Metal Gear this week, so conditions seem right for it to start soon.

dont have a shit ton of money at the moment, but if this is true, my ass is about to get a whole hell of a lot broker. Thanks for the heads up.

It means doing your part to make sure that used games are only available at the retailer who sells them to everyone else for the highest amount possible, for your own personal gain.

Well said.
This is more than likely true. The same thing happened at the end of last year's Game Days Sale.
Yep, same at my local area. They received the signs and also anticipating the sale next week.

I don't know if you meant that as a criticism of flipping or not, but usually the only games that are worth a flip (pun intended) are ones that nobody wants anymore. Hence the reason you're able to buy low at one place and flip high at another. You're merely taking advantage of the store's slackness in adjusting their prices.

This does NOT hurt fellow gamers in any way (I've seen games I've flipped priced $10 less than what I got in credit the very next day after I flipped them). Who the hell is going to pay $44.99 at Blockbuster for a used Stranglehold, when you can get it for $17.99...or hell, even $19.99 brand new at GameStop?! A complete moron might, but I'm not concerned with looking out for complete morons.

it's actually really simple to know when a b2g1 free is coming out. SOME TOP TIER game comes out and people want to get it so they trade in a lot their games to get it and gamestop gets a huge flush of inventory that they need to get rid of with a b2g1 free sale. For example, when GTA IV came out. People and kids were trading in crazy amounts of games to get enough credit to buy the game. gamestop realized they were getting alot of games, puts the sale on and people pick up GTA IV and pick up some b2g1 free games. since MGS 4 is coming out on the 12th they are implementing it again. it's actually a brilliant fast turnover strategy

lol. and to n8rockerasu and other people: is it only those crappy games that no one wants that can be successfully flipped? Because the idea of buying a game at one store and then trading it in at another (even if new/sealed) seems to me like it would usually result in you getting LESS than what you paid for... which would make no sense.

and zeke222 the b2g1 sale is for used only.
is this sale on new or used games or both?
Oh boy, I can smell the vultures already circling this one. Let me answer you before some snob does.

Used games only.

Doesn't flipping usually result in the games going to Blockbuster, who do not have the highest used game prices?
Doesn't flipping usually result in the games going to Blockbuster, who do not have the highest used game prices?
Until they realize they have like 20 of the same game and then clearance them all out at crazy low prices like my Blockbuster does.

Unless...

A) you get the game for free like many have done in the Target coupon thread.

B) there's a disparity in trade-value drops between two stores (one store sells at a discounted price and the other store has not adjusted TIVs)

C) there's a special promotion of B1G1, B2G1 or something where you can accumulate games very cheaply or the other store is having a special promotion for trade-ins... or preferably both at the same time.

Just take a look in the Target thread or the Blockbuster thread to see how people have been flipping.
the buy 2 get 1 free will be for NEW games.... or just USED???
Why the hell does people keep asking this? Since when the fuck has Gamestop ever had that sale on new games?
the buy 2 get 1 free will be for NEW games.... or just USED???
Always used only for Gamestop's B2G1 sales.

Plus, the question was answered a few posts above you.

I really hope this is true because I'm gonna put off buying Ninja Gaiden 2 at a discounted price to buy it at an even lower price. Hope it pays off.
the buy 2 get 1 free will be for NEW games.... or just USED???
it's always used games. But gamestop also has this curious policy of sometimes opening brand new games to sell as used for ten bucks less. another brilliant yet shady policy. It allows them to sell at 2 price points to different demographics.

i don't know why this post is still up, there is no buy 2 get 1 for used games starting on the 16th, it isn't till the last weekend of the game days =sale

Can you confirm this? Several CAGs here have confirmed otherwise by speaking with their GS managers.
considering im a manager yea
Alright, thanks. It would've sounded better had you actually pointed that out instead of just claiming something without proof.
