Gamestop.com cancelling bonuses?

I went online to check my order status for Alone in the Dark today as I saw that it was listed as "usually ships in 24 hours", to discover it was listed as being backordered in my order status. I also discovered that they took it upon themselves to go ahead and cancel my bonus t-shirt without telling me. The only reason I preorder anything from GameStop is for the bonuses, so it really irks me that they'd do something like this. I'm in a similar situation with the Bourne Conspiracy, I preordered it to get the flashlight and while I've got the game the bonus is still backordered and I don't have much hope. The only reason I didn't just cancel the order is I don't know if the soundtrack comes in the game case, and if it does I might still get that at least. Can they really just cancel the bonuses without telling me?
 
Yeah they can. However it's more likely they just ran out. They probably only had 1000 to give out and took 200k preorders. Usually the words, "while supplies last" are included with their bonues. Stinks, I know. :(

Seems really shitty they would just leave the info about the preorder bonuses up long after they knew they were out of them to get people to preorder from them. Plus it doesn't really make sense, I preordered the first day the soundtrack was listed online, I should be getting this stuff for sure.

Don't know if you'll get the shirt, but you should get the soundtrack as the pre-orders of the first shipment will get the "Soundtrack Edition" (it will say it in the upper right corner of the game case) that has the soundtrack included inside.
 
^ I used to preorder so i could get the cool stuff, but latley I havent been getting them so i just quit preordering.
 
Yeah. They took the liberty to cancel my bonus stylus from my Ninja Gaiden DS preorder because they ran out eventhough I preordered it on the first day it went up on their website with the advertised bonus.

Now I just preorder at my local store, even if I have to take the time to drive there. FWIW they actually put the bonus aside for their preorders.
 
My friends have had bad experiences with gs.com and the bonuses, so I've never tried, but it seems like stories here confirm. However, I cant say the store is any better, I can recall nearly a dozen times where they've screwed me over too. My latest venture, I even took the liberty to go down there and "reserve" the preorder bonus by taping a sheet of paper to the item, with my name and RESERVED in bold letters. And what happens? Picked it up late afternoon on release, oh, it was accidently given away too. I've basically lost all faith in preoder bonuses, so far no recent bonuses have caught my eye to retest my faith yet.

You gotta know that probably as SOON as you walked out the door, the employees probably did this:

GS employee 1: What was up with that person to think they could reserve themselves a pre-order bonus by putting a 'reserved' sign on it?

GS employee 2: I don't know, but let's mess with them and either give them nothing or say we gave away their PO bonus when they come in to pick their stuff up.

GS employee 1: Yeah. That'll be awesome to see the disappointed look on their face.

Then, they high fived, ripped your 'reserved' sign off "your" pre-order bonus and threw it in the garbage while laughing maniacally.
 
My preorder bonus on Alone in the Dark says cancelled also, but I got an email when the game shipped that they would send the bonus within the next two weeks and they were sorry for the inconvenience. Who knows if i will get it?
 
I have one of those Alone in the Dark T-shirts, I was in the store like 2 weeks ago and the guy asked me if I wanted one because they got in a huge box of them and were told to hand them out for advertisement.
 
Stop buying from GS. How many horror stories do people have to hear before they realize that GS is a horrible company to do business with?

I have only had 1 Bad experience with buying online from them so I wont anymore and the only small issues I have ever had were with used games and never with in store pre-orders...

Some people must have the real bad ones.
 
Well today I got an email that my Alone in the Dark bonus shipped. So I am having good luck with GS. But now I worry the game isnt that great from one review I read.
