GameStop.com Relaunches: Xbox Live Marketplace Content Available Soon

It's already available in the stores, has been for a few months now. Good if you don't want to have extra points left over and only want specific content for certain retail games as the XBLA list is limited to just the Summer of Arcade and other select choices. Bad thing is so far it's always been MSRP and when something is on sale (like BFBC 2 Onslaught mode for example) for XBL Gold DotW, it's still MSRP at Gamestop.

Also it's not 100% up to date. You can't get Shadow Broker for ME 2 in store for example but you can get the other ME 2 DLC's.

If discount codes work (e,g, $10 off, X% off, etc) this could be very good.

Edit: Still not liking the new design layout.
Edit 2: Clarification

The codes work fine. It's the same system they've been using for 360 preorder codes since BFBC 2 and it's been available in stores since July/August.

Like I said though, it's going to be an MSRP fest so CAG's will hate it, but it's good for a significant amount of Gamestop's customer base that don't read gaming sites/blogs/forums.

I tried to shrug my shoulders but apparently I don't even care enough to do that.

I guess I don't understand the need to dedicate precious floor and wall space in the B&M stores when you can buy the same things with the points cards. They could have a list of dlc with descriptions at the front counter, the same way they do the pre-order books, and use the floor and wall space to sell more product.

Same thing with dlc on the site. It just seems unnecessary. I hate the re-design as well.

Is it even on the site yet? I went and looked at both Fallout 3 and Rock Band 2 and neither of them had their digital add-ons on their page.

Meh. If Gamestop.com actually told you how many copies of a used title a store has in stock(which still could vary wildly depending on how frequently the site updated that info) and they added a trade value search engine like they used to have, then it would be useful for me.

But otherwise it's a crappy redesign that doesn't add much in functionality that I'll use.

I hope this isn't their plan to get ahead of the curve on media going by the wayside. I don't think a lot of people will want to buy digital item codes from them because that's one more level of headaches when something goes wrong.

That'll never happen with me though. If physical media stops being available then I stop playing new release games at that point. That is, unless those DD games are like $15 and a decent length(10+ hours at least).

But MSRP of $40-60 for digital files and they can get bent.

Gamestop.com used to do that years ago, but more of a range. 0 copies, 1-3 copies, 4+. I'm sure accuracy issues were the reason for it's demise.

Sure it's nice for anyone who has GS credit/giftcards and wants to buy DLC, but it's not nearly as exciting as when Amazon started offering this kind of thing since we know we'll never see good deals.

I love how you always rant when nobody adds all these outlandish features that only you care about like you're the sole reason this industry exists.

The "PickUp@Store" function seems nifty, although I can see all the OCD gamers facepalming when they get handed a beat up disc only copy.

Will have to try it out soon to see how well it really works.

I hate the new locate function... before I could just load up my favorites and see if they're in stick nearby but now, I have to manually check each one. If it's one or two games, it's not big deal but during B2G1F, it's gonna be a pain in the ass.

I'm not the only reason?;) Awww damn.

The only GOOD thing they seemed to do is add back in the 'guaranteed complete and playable' thing. It's been listed on every game I checked.

Only problem would still be THEIR definition of 'playable' versus the definition of gamers like a good chunk of those on CAG. To them playable could mean scratched to shit but still boots up and plays.:whistle2:#
