Gamestop:DS: Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin New $12.99 or Used $9.99
Not the best AW game, but it is a great game.
I was thinking of checking out the series. What's wrong with this one?

I think it's more serious tone is a bit of a turnoff. The maps and battles are fantastic but I really enjoyed the supers from the previous series along with the characters. Still a wonderful game for the maps alone but storyline wise and character wise, not the greatest.

Just my 3 cents.

I dunno, I thought DoR was very much the best Advance Wars. If you're thinking of checking out the series, I recommend starting with either the first GBA game, or DoR. Dual Strike would be pretty overwhelming for someone new to the series, but DoR has a relatively friendly learning curve.

This was not my favorite AW either, but it was still very entertaining. The tone was a darker which some people liked, but I was just so-so on it. Some of the maps were repeats on the DoR game as well, but I guess that doesn't detract if you haven't played the series before. The GBA games are the best to start out with, but this last one fine if you wanted to start out too. I agree that AW : DS is a little overwhelming for beginners, but it was my favorite of the whole series.

There were really only a couple maps repeated from earlier games (the only one I can think of offhand is Bounty River, though I know there are probably a ocuple more). I really like this game. I picked up a copy of the european version (though it may be a bootleg copy, I don't recall where the seller was) a while back, and have enjoyed it a lot. Part of me wants to pick this up just so I have a definitely-legit copy of it.

Though I like the unit names in the PAL version better.
