Gamestop Dumping GBA Games - The Reckoning Begins April 18, B2G2 (17th for PUR Pro)
Only thing to do then would be to return it to them or buy an AC adapter online. But if the store has others they should be able to hook you up. Just let 'em know.
The problem is that it's technically unreturnable now as, unless I get the person who was working there when I bought it and they remember me, it's incomplete without the AC and it might be hard to get them to accept a return.

I did call a few hours ago and the GS I bought it from never had an AC in the first place. I decided to call the next-nearest GS that had a Micro (60 miles away from here) on the off-off-off chance that they could work out some way to ship their Micro + AC to a GS near me for an exchange even though I know that's not really their policy.

The person I spoke with was really courteous and seemed on top of things. Told me he'd have to talk it over with his manager and he'd call me back, and sure enough I received a call this evening telling me that they could ship the Micro and AC to the GS I purchased the other Micro from and I could make the exchange there.

Not perfectly ideal as it's still a trip, but it's shorter than 60 miles at least. It should be available in a few days and supposedly they'll be holding it back for me rather than putting it out for sale. GS actually comes through sometimes :applause:

Gamestop I was at today the girl was refusing to take any GBA trades, saying they already stopped taking them despite the sign saying April 3rd.
Anyone know if they are going to drop the price of the gameboy micros they have?
Don't have an answer, but I know that when they clearanced the GB/GBC stuff, they did include the hardware/accessories at least by the 75% off period.

When they did Xbox, I don't remember them ever including hardware/accessories.

Mainly because they still sell the Xbox system, even though a good majority of the stores don't carry the games. It's weird.

Whereas when they cleared out PSOne, N64 and Dreamcast games, they also discounted accessories. They did the same with the GB/GBC. With those, they were completely getting rid of them from their system. Xbox is still in their system, just transferred to the newer or really small stores.

Yup, I remember buying a few dozen Gameboy Colors for $2 each I think. Hopefully the GBA/SP/Micro hardware will also eventually drop to 75% off (hardware doesn't get the additional 10% EDGE/PowerUp Rewards discount IIRC).

Interesting. While I already found the Pokemon games for cheap (Thank you Craigslist) there are some others I wouldn't mind getting at discounted prices. I'll have to make a note of the ones I'm interested in and then try hunting them down once April rolls around.

In regards to the Pokemon games, it's best to make sure you can tell the difference between bootleg copies and the real deal. Some of the smaller stores tend to carry a couple here and there.

figured I'd start early before all the good stuff is gone...grabbed Advance Wars 2 for 4.99 AND for a quite surprising find, a brand new still factory sealed, Gunstar Super Heroes....4.99 as well. I have to say I am quite pleased!

Damn straight, I'll be using cash to make some kill shots for sure.

So I found a copy of Ninja Five-O, but the sticker is half torn off, for $12 at a local store. Should I pick this up? The sticker is annoying but I can look past it if the game play is amazing and the rarity.

Not sure what is up with people in my area but I also found copies of MUSHA and Trouble Shooter (rare/uncommon Genesis shmups) with nasty stickers. People must hate rare games

I'd say go for it - the prices on it are crazy on Amazon/eBay.

I wonder if the handhelds themselves are going to get clearance'd out any time soon - I saw an AGS-101 GBA SP today and figured I should grab it for the $40 price tag, but I'm going to feel a little stupid if it's half the price by next month (then again, someone else might've grabbed it by then... but...).

Well I went out today thinking that buy 2 get 2 started today I was disappointed that it did not. According to my store it starts on the 13th.

So Buy2Get2 on PS2, GC and GBA games? And I just recently moved from an area that had 6 GameStop close to each other. Wonderful.

started early again and snagged a copy of Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. I couldn't help myself. It will be returned and rebought once buy 2 get 2 free starts.

Remember, you have within 7 days to return it. After that, they don't accept returns.

I have a feeling many of the good titles aren't going to last out there with the current B2G1 going on--I just got done a casual scouting run and the :ps2: Futurama and .Hack 4: Quarantine have done been sniped in my area.

Personally I'd get out there now and hit anything that's already a good deal with the B2G1.

U do know they had a 2 pack. I think the 2 pack cost about the same as just 1 game. It's funny how GS list there prices. (search Castlevania for GBA.The online price should match in store)

Yeah, but the closest one to me is like 78 miles away. I liked Harmony of Disonance, but Aria was my favorite.

Brand new? U sure? They have a wraping machine in the back, but still Im shock that they still have the package for it. What store was this?

In Villa Park, IL....it was factory sealed. I have a few games so I know what the difference is. They had a few more, but nothing of real value.

Wish I got Gunstar Super heroes sealed. Do u think they will ship it to the DC/MD/VA area?

Some gamestops are shipping out the Gameboys because no one is buying it and want to use the space for the newer stuff. A manager was telling me this.
He also said a whole bin size of games only cost really less then $20 total.

Not sure...I've noticed a lot of stores are filtering all their larger volume stores with transfers of GBA games. I guess this way it acts a s a hub for all those looking for GBa games. The two stores I shop at have well over 200 GBA games available. I'd check the Villa Park, IL location or Bloomingdale, IL location. They still have lots of good stuff. I am just not willing to pay 19.99 and up for some games. (Mario's, Pokemons, etc)

This is the usual MO with Gamestop for used games for systems that are being clearanced out. This is what they did for Gameboy and Gameboy Color games - shift all stock to stores with higher sales volumes for the games.

A good way to check for these "hub" stores is to step through the store inventory locator for Gameboy Advance, PS2, or Gamecube games and try to spot trends...usually you will find a few stores that keep coming up as having the harder to find games. Then focus your search on those particular locations.

Yeah it sucks games like Mario and Luigi or Mario Vs DK are still $19.99 but with this sale I'll spend $40 on 4 games which makes it a bit more reasonable.

What are some more common GBA gems to look out for? More in the vain of Astro Boy, Drill Dozer, Wade Hixton's counter Punch. Nothing super obscure like Ninja Five-o, Urban Yeti or Pinball of the Dead.

Will probably return all of this, but I picked up the following:
Ninja Five-O
Golden Sun the Lost Age x2 (one of them had a $7.99 sticker on it but it came up as $12.99 - talk about gamestop price gouging for these b2g2 - made the game give it to me for $7.99 - I wanted Golden Age but they mis-stickered it, oh wells)
Megaman Battlenetwork 6 Falzar
Megaman Battlenetwork 4 Blue Moon

Going to see if I can pick up the following:
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones
Medabots: Medabee GOLD
Medabots: Rokusho SILVER
Castlevania: Aria & Harmony 2-Pack

I did See Zelda Minish Cap and Castlevania Aria of Sorrow in one store but passed.

Which ones are the rarest and worth keeping?

If you return Ninja Five-O, I will have to murder you.

You can flip it for 8-10 times what you paid for it, not to mention it's even cheaper since it's B2G2.

So to answer your question...KEEP!

I'm interested to see the prices of the SP system. Hopefully they go down as well.

They had a few at my store but there was no price drop, at least not yet. Also my store already tossed all their GBA games to the west coast (in case you missed my earlier whining about it). I did, however, get a few PS2 and GC games.
SSPX0139.jpg

Gamecube: Ikaruga, MGS Twin Snakes, FF Chronicles, and Wario World
PS2: FF XII, FF VII Dirge of Cerberus, Digimon World 4, and Wild Arms 4

All complete and in good to excellent shape, at least as far as Gamestop used games go. Was even sweeter after a Craigslist find wherein I bought a bunch of crap games and 2 Sony PS3 controllers for $60, then traded in all the games for credit using the tiered trade-in offer and made $60.30, just over what all of this cost me :D

Also, if anybody happens upon a copy of Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for GBA and/or a black label copy of RE: Chain of memories for PS2, specifically a copy with the foil cover art, let me know. I'd be interested in re-buying them from you.

I'll go in sometime thie week to browse through the (caseless) Gamecube games. Took a chance on Skies of Arcadia: Legends; I saw it there the other week, but decided I'd wait until B2G2 started to see if I can get a deal on it (if it's still there).
The good GBA games are already gone. :whistle2:(

going on tuesday when i go cash my check
will look out for Ninja Five 0
i just wish the pokemon games were cheaper
not $30 each

Maybe someone can post a quick list in the OP for games to look out for.

agreed, even though they are the one of the most remembered gba games, they aren't worth it for the price. hell I'd rather get B/W for the ds NEW than a used emerald copy

But I might as well get emerald. it probably won't go down it price, and this is a crazy good deal as it is.

Looking for the Megaman Battle Network games, Pokemon games, and FF Tactics, and Zelda Minish Cap. Hopefully my local GS still has em. I'm blowing off my hard earned money mowing lawns on old games :)

On a side note. The Battle Network games are good, I'd skip 1 and 2 for gameplay, but great story. BN 5 and 6 are the easiest to play, main story wise. Side stories are hard.

A full game complete takes a good 20-30 hours. finding every single chip is frustrating.
I picked up Sapphire and FireRed for $5 each on craigslist
missed leafgreen cause i had to work
I picked up leafgreen like 2 yrs ago for 20 bucks sealed at kmart

now I regret opening it......

It really is a drag that games like Mario, Pokemon and such are still at a high price. I skirt around that minor annoyance by raiding local pawn shops and finding them for much cheaper soooo yea. I at least know some of the cheaper ones I want so that should make for easier hunting.

The non-eco DS cases have an upper slot for GBA games. I was just wondering if I should put my ~40 newly acquired GBA games in DS cases, but the GBA slots are a pain to use.

Wow, I never noticed this until you said something. So that means with GBA games you could get the manuals for cart-onlys and go with some cover project print-outs instead of original boxes?
