Q: Is this sale for new or used games?
A: New games only. In the past, there have been B2G1 sales on used items associated with Game Days, so keep an eye out for that.

Q: Will all of the games be "gutted" or opened?
A: YMMV. Some stores I have been to basically open everything up and dump it into the bins. Others will only open a few copies and leave the rest behind the counter. If you want a sealed copy, make sure to ask.

Q: Is this in-store or online?
A: Both.

Q: Will the store accept a print-out of the 10% off coupon?
A: YMMV.

Q: Does the coupon work for one item or the whole purchase?
A: It works on all Game Days items bought in a purchase.

Q: Is there going to be a B2G1 on used games and accessories?
A: As previously mentioned, there could possibly be one later, but as of now, nope. There is only a B2G1 on used PS2 games when you buy a new PS2 system.

Picked up Tomb Raider Anniversary, since ive been meaning to add it for awhile. and $14.99 is decent for a new/gutted copy. I forgot my 10%off coupon so i didnt buy more, and it wasnt worth the trip home to save a $1.49

Let's see... $8,800,000,000 plus the $90 they'd "lose"(ie make less profit on) on shipping out his games.... hmmm, yep, gamestop is the next wal-mart thanks to canceling his order. Good job.

The way I see it is they have 1 excellent deal to attract people (VC for 50% off, or GH+free guitar for $10) and most of the rest are crappy so they can get gamers to participate in the sale and want to buy more, or if VC is out of stock they'll feel empty handed and buy something else.
 
i guess this means that demand for VC outstripped GS's stockpile? usually game days sales are set up so as to clear GS' stock, stuff that doesn't normally sell well, right?
kind of ironic that VC is now backordered.
like i said earlier, i wonder what GS' rationale behind placing VC on sale was.

Look, I love VC, but like most people here who are pretty hardcore, I already own it. Frankly, I don't think it's the kind of game that appeals to the general gaming public and I'm somewhat surprised that people are making such a big deal about it. Yes, it's half of what the game goes for elsewhere, but if you don't like those kinds of SRPGs, who cares?

You may already do this, but its good to put signs on your door and floor stating not to leave packages sitting there. Have them deliver to a neighbor or hold off until you're home, etc.
 
I know plenty of people that were too cheap to support VC when it was $60, and now they're taking advantage of this sale. They must have gone back for a second printing, its even listed as top seller in PS3 on Gamestop.com.

yeah, unfortunately, I placed my order for VC alone at about 1am EST sunday morning,with only the SAVER coupon for free shipping, but the order is still "open" and "pending" =(

I'm sure that's exactly what the US big three car makers used to say in meetings in the 1970s when they were dominating their industry. Just because you make a ton of money for a while doesn't mean you will continue to be successful, particularly when you do something so poorly that the door is wide open for better run competitors.

no i mean if people would go in and Buy these same games in the store and use that 10% off coupon.. I never said VC made this sale great, I said it may be the reason why there are only a couple great deals in the sale. It's a common marketting strategy.
 
You're exactly right. This is always GS' MO when it comes to these sales. A handful of great deals, a couple of good ones, and a lot of crap, which they hope people will take off their hands. VC at $30 is a great deal. Doesn't really matter if a particular person is interested in the game or not. It will get enough people in the store (judging by how many CAGs alone got it), and when they are there, hopefully, they will also buy The DOG Island or that Friends' game.

Sweet, I knew these would ship. The code ain't too big a deal, unless you completely abused it, like bought a dozen umd's and one $10 game and your order total was $5 shipped or something like that.

That's exactly what my status says. I picked up a gutted copy yesterday anyway as a backup, but I got too excited that I played it (the disc had no scratches or smudges and the case was in great shape). I tried calling this morning to cancel my online order (I'm too lazy to ebay), but the CSR said that she couldn't because "it already made it to the warehouse." By "it" I think she meant my order. My point is, I think your order might still go through.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but for those getting 2 copies of VC at gamestop.com, couldn't you have also used the SAVE10 ($10 off any $50 purchase) coupon code? It was never glitchy to begin with.

The code worked on some of them, like Cowboy Bebop UMD and Hollowman UMD, making them free.

This is a typical sale some will find what they want while others will not. Sales are deals that are designed to get people in a store to buy other things. Obviously they are working since Gamestop/EB still does them. Simply marketing and sales 101.

As for shipping... I bought My World My Way on the 9th, shipped on the 10th but not really because that was an electronic scan, it really didn't get to UPS till the 11th... then I got it the 13th.

Probably future JRPGs will be multiplatform if they're for the HD systems, or they'll all go to the DS or Wii, with a little PSP for good measure.

for what it's worth, my VC order w/ SAVER coupon has not been canceled, *yet*. don't know if that means they haven't gotten to it, or whether it's kosher. unfortunately, still listed as "open"

Oh well. Hopefully VC will come back in stock. This whole incident made me realize the only game I wanted was VC. So in the end I saved money. :p
