GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]
. . .in the UK and Australia, gutting games is a standard.
Stateside, Gamestop is one of the few retail chains that do this, and since I can generally get most new games sealed elsewhere for the same price, I don't shop at Gamestop often for exactly this reason.

If you're going to play the game anyway and you're buying it at a discounted price during Gamedays, who the hell cares?

Same here, gamestop is the last place I'll go to for "new" games, but it's the first retail store I'll go to if I don't mind getting a game used. I would have absolutely no problem with it if the games they gut were sold at used prices, but once the game has been opened and the disc has been handled, that = used to me.

Hmmm...okay I need some help on this one, hopefully people have played these games and give me some advice. Keep in mind I am a comic book fan.

I am interested in these games and have $40 in credit to spend. Xbox 360.

Assassins Creed 2 - 29.99 (borrowed it from a friend and got about halfway through it before giving it back)
Afro Samurai - 9.99
Spider-man friend or foe - 9.99
Sacred 2 - 19.99
BlazBlue - 19.99
Wolverine Origins - 19.99

Please help a guy spend his credit properly. I like beat em ups, rpgs, strategy and 2D fighters so all of these interest me.

That's fine, just tired of hearing about it in every Gamestop sale someone whining about it. I live stateside too. All the complaints boil down to a Pavlovian response to bits of plastic. I go where the cheapest game is located. If a new Gamestop gutted game is the cheapest, then so be it.

I think thats the way i'm leaning. I have heard good things about Wolverine Origins as a quick beat em up but I liked the Afro Samurai demo. And its 10 bucks. I could get Blaz Blue and Afro and maybe either Spiderman friend or foe or put the $10 down on Transformers War for Cybertron. Need that Shockwave.

Is it just me or is this sale they have where they say it's 50% off is only for the games that were new only a year ago? I mean I see a few ones in the mix but other than that, it's games that were out a while back and if you look at some, they were on this sale before. I do see quite a few good ones I could snag but the others are ones I already have or just don't interest me at all. Just saying.
Does gamestop have an in-store price match policy at all? I bought Persona 4 for $29.99 2 days ago :(
I don't think they do price adjustments, did you open the game yet? If not you can just return it and rebuy it..
Does gamestop have an in-store price match policy at all? I bought Persona 4 for $29.99 2 days ago :(
Buy Persona 4 during the sale, then return it with the old receipt.

You did keep your old receipt, right?
Does gamestop have an in-store price match policy at all? I bought Persona 4 for $29.99 2 days ago :(
Did you open it? Just return it and rebuy it on the Gamedays sale tomorrow :O

What is the likelihood of Amazon PMing some of these? I'd love a Persona 4 for 20ish on Amazon where I have credit to spend (and I'm guaranteed a sealed copy that isn't stickered XD)
Does gamestop have an in-store price match policy at all? I bought Persona 4 for $29.99 2 days ago :(
A YMMV determining on the employees but general Gamestop practice is not to price match anything. An ASM and I both purchased Dragon Age Origins and within less than 7 days, they had a $10 off sale with no warning to us. We were not allowed to get the difference back

Luckily I only paid $20 for my copy (I got a gift card), so I wasn't to hurt. It was the PC version, so $50 price point. He bought the 360 version @ full price (minus discount). He was a bit more upset.

I'd steer away from Wolverine. I'm sure that it was fine to scratch an itch last summer, but since better beat 'em ups have come out (read: Bayonetta) I just found WO tedious. In the first few hours of the game, you fight the same (type) of mini-boss at least 7 different times, including a 4 on 1 battle (for an achievement). At that point, I just lost interest. The storytelling isnt very good, especially if you already know Wolverine's orign from the comics/movies.

Assassin's Creed 2, OTOH, I really loved, but that will burn through most of your credit.

I'm wondering the same, anybody know if they did it before?

Funny story, Amazon had a Gold Box almost 2 years ago with Persona 4 w/ Soundtrack and Artbook for $25 shipped. I got it then
If you're going to play the game anyway and you're buying it at a discounted price during Gamedays, who the hell cares?
because he's the prince of jakofistan.

Buy the discounted game or shut up.
I'm wondering the same, anybody know if they did it before?
Nope, Amazon does not do PMing. Sure, Amazon could decide to set their price the same as GS but that's their decision. Amazon also stopped with refunding price differences a while back.

This (Persona 4) is a great game -- easily worth $20. I too picked it up with the limited edition artbook when Amazon had the gold box deal a while back. The artbook is very nice. Certainly one of the best bonuses I've ever seen come with a game. The only one that compares would be the free Zelda OoT that came with Wind Waker ;-)

Amazon will not do pm'ing. I emailed them when gamestop.com had darksiders for $36 after a promo code. They told me that they're policy was to do no pm'ing, but they may decide to drop the price in the future. They did pm the price a day or two later, though.

Also, I have a feeling that Amazon will match the price on a lot of these titles. They've been good about matching prices on high profile sales like this.

BLAZBLUE and Afro Samurai are for you!! BLAZBLUE has tons of great japanese comic/anime artwork. Some of the best I have ever seen. The story is awesome, the way it all unfolds is amazing, HUGE replay value. BLAZBLUE sounds like it's everything you like in a game based on your list of likes.

WITHOUT A DOUBT

BLAZBLUE!!!!!
The only one that compares would be the free Zelda OoT that came with Wind Waker ;-)
That preorder bonus was a system seller right there.

Looking back on the list, Dissidia FF, Afro Samurai, and HotD Overkill are fairly tempting. Especially Afro Samurai.

Blazblue is awesome. Bought it when it was just the Special edition. Couple of friends are competitive with it, I just like it every now and again 'cause I'm bad at fighters and it's my senior year of college. No time to invest in a fighting game. (or many others)
My local few gamestops have the Assassins Creed Master Edition. Will that be $29.99 too?
That would be truly awesome. I'm interested in the answer to this also.

prototype worth 19.99??? nobodies talking about getting it, wanna get that with cursed mountain, sacred 2, maybe blazeblue, but might hold off for new edition. wanted alone in the dark but no ps3 version!

Sorry guys... I know this has to have been asked/answered already; but I can't find it anywhere in this thread...

Is this sale also going to be online? And if so, should it flip over to the sale at midnight?

I want AC2, but I have $15 worth of "online-only" coupons/credit that I'd prefer to use.

Hmmm....think I'll trade CoD4 and something else to get GoW3 or FFXIII since that sale is still going on, then buy it again for 19.99 along with AC2 and CoD:WaW :D

You're going to trade in COD4 for $20 and then rebuy it for $20?
That's fine, just tired of hearing about it in every Gamestop sale someone whining about it. I live stateside too. All the complaints boil down to a Pavlovian response to bits of plastic. I go where the cheapest game is located. If a new Gamestop gutted game is the cheapest, then so be it.
I just bought a gutted game from GameStop this week, so no I was not complaining about that.

I'm used to the gutted practice since the Babbages days (now GameStop) and I had a sour experience when I was younger because the manual that came with Final Fantasy II for the SNES was bent up because the stupid clerk didn't know how insert the game back in the box correctly.

So that is why. It is not a standard retail practice and when it comes to ruining or losing game contents, I am not holding back my thoughts about it. My reasoning is totally justified.

Before I was just mentioning a pre-order, they are supposed to hold the pre-orders, but apparently mine was sold to some soul that didn't and I got the last gutted store copy. Seriously, no one seems to care at Gamestop anymore.

So this definitely starts on Friday at opening and not at 5 or 6 pm today right? I've read the 1st post and know what it says, but I just know that the Gamestop computers are weird sometimes and that these sales have shown up the night before at a certain time. Anyone (GS employees who are CAGs or those in the know) know the 100% accurate answer to this?
Anyone know how Dragonball: Raging Blast is?
not worth it

Spend your money on Valkyrie Chronicles for a lesser price but 3x the game
You're going to trade in COD4 for $20 and then rebuy it for $20?
Heh, pretty much since I don't wanna pay full price for FXIII and I'd still like to have CoD4 it in my collection.

Bad service is bad service and can be said about any industry. A damaged or missing case nets a 10% shopworn discount, something any CAG should be happy to get ;)

If you don't claim your pre-order in 48 hours, it can be sold. That's on the receipt. If they did it otherwise, then file a customer complaint. I'm sorry you have bad service. My store isn't full of idiots (only a few).

Question:

Do games get added to the list as the deadline approaches on 4/25 or do promotions like b2g1 spring up instead?
Question:

I have seen games pulled from the sale, I have seen games added, and usually some games get even more discounts during the sale.

There is a possibility the B2G1 gets delayed until AFTER the sale is over this time, but that was just a rumor at my store so *insert grain of salt here*.

Things can and will change during the GameDays.

Kmart is selling them for $34.99 this week.

They're about $45 on amazon. With all things considered, I think that's a fair price.
