GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]
Thought about getting Modern Warfare GOTY for the 360 but I heard things about it not having the DLC anymore. Is that true.
They used to do it but not anymore. I just got my copy of MW ungutted and it didn't have the dlc. I guess it depends on which copy you get so the older the better.

Got Cursed Mountain in store for $9.99. It wasn't in the bins with the rest of the games, so I asked. They had no idea it was part of the sale and I got a sealed copy :]

Picked up w@w again today. Had til the begining of last year and traded it in before the final 2 map packs released.

I find w@w to have a much higer replay value for me over mw2. Nazi zombies is addicting!

Anyone know if the PS3 version of the GOTY has the same problem or not?

It's not so much a "problem" but more of something that's no longer being offered. Basically a kind of first come first serve kind of thing.

Ok general question for everyone: Why does a mall close earlier on a saturday? gamestop closed at 7 instead of 9?

And gonna be trading in more crap tomorrow in hopes of a b2g1

Picked up World at War today. The cashiers told me to check the pile first for a gutted copy. None left. Seemed pretty annoyed when they had to give me a sealed copy.

Just a heads up, I just pick up gutted copy of Persona 4 today for $14.99.
I visited two different Gamestop; one had it for $19.99 and the other had it for $14.99.
YMMV
Ok general question for everyone: Why does a mall close earlier on a saturday? gamestop closed at 7 instead of 9?
to paraphrase Chris Rock:

cause single people got fucking to do!

Got Persona 4 for ~20. It was gutted, but, the manager was super cool, let me look at the discs, made sure I got the bonus soundtrack disc, and gave me a gutted copy that wasn't stickered to death. So yeah, gutted but...I'm not going to complain, the service was exceptional.

Also picked up what I thought was sly Cooper 1, but ended up being Sly cooper 2, complete.Dunno how that happened but...oh well.
Are all Persona 4's supposed to come come with soundtrack discs?
Mines suppose to according to box, still sealed.
Something tells me we'll still see the B2G1 soon. I just have a hunch. They had one about this time last year when RE5 came out before Gamedays (so there were two sales within a short time). I see one happening before summer, probably near Splinter Cell's release?
Here, let's just save everyone the hope
Here, let's just save everyone the hope
hahahahaha... that wouldn't be too bad. With coupons like that, do they stack with edge to be 35% or is it worked out differently than that in the system?

For my purposes, I'd still be getting about the same games for about the same price with that coupon :p If only I had the credit back when I bought God of War 3....

Here's to seeing that coupon, because I would actually save money with one of those, now that I work out the math (my third game was cheaper than the other two).

Picked up Blazblue, IL2 Sturmvik, and Sacred 2 for PS3. Each was "the last" copy at the Gamestop. Gutted, opened, and reassembled for my bargain gaming pleasure.
Anyone know if the PS3 version of the GOTY has the same problem or not?
It's the same.

My CoD 4 for PS3 has no map pack either.

But it's not nearly as bad as in WaW, where you CONSTANTLY get booted for not having the map pack maps. I usually average 2 maps per game, get booted, then search for another game in WaW. Haven't got booted once in CoD 4 for not having the right map, so you're really not missing anything.

I found a GS that didn't gut their games. Just had one copy in the bin and they would get you a sealed copy later. Fantastic.

That is why i stopped playing WaW. Halo 3 was worst though, they let out a new map pack then all the sudden i cant play doubles, i cant play team slayer, i cant play swat, and worst no big teams, its the only reason i got ODST.

having to pay more for new content they they had to put more resources in i get, but restricting parts of the game if i don't buy new content...fucking lame.
Are all Persona 4's supposed to come come with soundtrack discs?
Yes that is the only way they came. Unless of course GQD reprints it

Or even better if Atlus gave it the same treatment that Persona 3 did with FES :D

Picked up:
:360: Alone in the Dark
:360: Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection
:360: Prototype
:ps3: Disgaea 3

Also, saw a Assassin Creed 2 Master Assassin Edition but couldn't decide if it was worth it. The tin looked to be in decent condition and it was gutted in that oh so special Gamestop way so I am assuming the contents are in good condition as well. I have yet to pick up AC2 but I don't know if this is the way to go or not. I think it was around $69.99.

Wow, that is exceptional service! They let you have a copy of a game that only 1 or 2 employees had rented out (so it was still in pretty good shape), gave you a case that they didn't apply too many of their annoying stickers too, and even included the soundtrack disc that is listed as being included right on the box...all for the price of a brand new, sealed game. Truly, above and beyond.

Bravo, Gamestop...bravo. :applause:
I found a GS that didn't gut their games. Just had one copy in the bin and they would get you a sealed copy later. Fantastic.
this is how the store in carbondale was that I went to. The case for MGS4 looked like it had been sitting out forever and I thought "well at least the game will be new". Then the clerk just pulled out a sealed copy from behind the counter.

Why is it that dicks like you always have to find your way into a gamestop thread?

Seriously dude, I'm looking for deals at GS, not your fucking worthless commentary.

Yeah, we know, the shit is gutted.

Quit going off already.
Haha yeah maybe, well the problem is actually the hiring of "Gamers", those are not the employees that gamestop wants. It is always good to have 1 on staff for some questions, but with the addition of Gostores for easy access it typically has an answer for most. [at least the clients that Gamestop is gearing towrds]

And actually you are right, I take it back, the "well ran" Gamestops will not get you someone that can give you an unbiased review so yes "Gamers" can throw that out the window. However us "Gamers" typically rely on online websites for our reviews, well at least myself and the ones I know...:/
I rely on the opinion of fellow gamers rather than the 'professional' websites, since so many of them give games that were so-so in my book(Fallout 3, Uncharted, God Of War 3) perfect scores and rave about them.

Mind you, I liked two of those three games I just mentioned, but I didn't think they were 'the bestest EVAR' like so many people and sites think.
Problem where?
I didn't really say it was a problem to have the 'eye candy' employees, but if I'm buying something and I have a question about it, I'd like to know there's at least one person working who might've played it.
Went to the GameStop in front of me. Noticed they had only one copy of Persona 4 and...HELLO! What's this? A $14.99 Game Days price tag slapped on there. Instantly snatched and went to pay.

Unfortunately, it didn't ring up for said price and instead came up at $19.99. Guy eyed me as if I had slapped it on there (this is the same guy that always gives me grief and rolled his eyes at me when I wanted him to exchange a used wireless 360 controller he had handed me because part of the left stick was missing a chunk of its rubber grip) and told me he'll "give me a 10% discount", which turned out to be the Game Days price of $20 (doesn't take a math genius to figure that you can't get $20 from 10% off of $30). Didn't help that the game was gutted and upon inspection outside, I noticed there had been chocolate stains on the box.

Either this was the oldest copy they had sitting around in the store (as I've seen only one new and one used there for the longest time), or someone handled the case poorly, seeing as how not only did the outside get stained at the bottom, but it also found its way on the actual cover (even on the backside).

I *really* wish the damn thing had come back in stock online. This is why I hate gutted new games.
You kept it? Really? As soon as I noticed the stains(it might not have been chocolate btw:lol:), I would've walked right back in there and asked for a refund.

there's a difference between what shape the game is in, and how good the service of an employee is...

for instance, a game could be sealed at walmart, but an employee could take it out of the case and throw it at your head at full force, that'd be kinda rude and bad service. where as the guy at GS was obv. helpful and did the best he could to make the customer satisfied about the purchase, (which for GS is quite nice when you come across these kinds of employees, they're rare, anywhere really).

get it?
Picked up:

:360: Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection
:360: Prototype
:ps3: Disgaea 3

Also, saw a Assassin Creed 2 Master Assassin Edition but couldn't decide if it was worth it. The tin looked to be in decent condition and it was gutted in that oh so special Gamestop way so I am assuming the contents are in good condition as well. I have yet to pick up AC2 but I don't know if this is the way to go or not. I think it was around $69.99.
The downside is that it's been out of stock on the site forever, the other nearest GameStops take a good while to get to and neither of them had the game in stock.

It was bad enough that the copy I got was the sole copy available there.

I also hate you for painting that picture of it not being chocolate in my head. :p

Well....you know some people have atrocious hygiene habits. Plus I think someone mentioned that their Gamestops keep consoles locked in their bathroom in the back room. So maybe that game and its manual was 'reading material' in there.

That's why I always nitpick the copy of a game I'm buying used, since I don't want any 'mystery stains' on there. It's bad enough with the residue from the stickers on there sometimes.

Thanks. Still, it would have been good getting the map pack or else why bother calling this a GOTY edition. Is WAW still worth getting then? I placed an order for both games but may return one if one is way better than the other.

Our store in honolulu did the same. The cases of the games would be in a bin and you bring the case up to the cashier and they get a sealed copy from the back. I was expecting a gutted copy like others and was surprised to get it brand new.
It's unfortunate all GS don't use this practice. I feel bad for people with stains on their copies.

The main thing I've got against gutted copies is that sometimes I'm buying a game as a gift. Last time that happened, the guy said it was the last one in the store, I said, I need it for a gift, then he said well, it's new. I passed. Who wants to give a gift that looks opened and potentially used? For me personally, not a big deal if it looks pristine, but for a gift, cmon.

Picked up RE4 and REUC on the Wii, and got a sealed copy of UC. I only got a gutted RE4 since it was the last one. Overall though I'm kind of disappointed with the selection this year. Hopefully more will get added.

Do they add more to the sale after it has begun?
Picked up Blazblue, IL2 Sturmvik, and Sacred 2 for PS3. Each was "the last" copy at the Gamestop. Gutted, opened, and reassembled for my bargain gaming pleasure.
I got the exact same games

I usually only buy the gutted new copies if the deal is too cheap to pass up or I just don't care about the sticker residue / other damage to the case for that particular game.

Picked up Spiderman Friend or Foe gutted for $10 at the mall Gamestop and the case looked like it had been through 10 pairs of non-gentle hands and had 3 fricking gummy stickers on it.

Two of my young nephews will be at my house ALL next week (yeah spring break) and I bought it specifically for them to play unsupervised co-op till they turn it into a coaster. I'm sure they will give it a whirl. Also have that Star Wars Republic Heroes game set aside for them to lay waste to as well. If they survive the week more or less intact, I'll just put them in new cases if need be.

I picked up both Persona 4 and Blaz Blue. I get to the counter and there is this one girl there. She says, it says new. The other guy says yeah, and? Then he proceeds to pull out the Persona 4 gutted paper copy. It had both discs. They were together and the dude was NOT careful with them either, he was sliding them back and forth. The girl was. careful. I made a comment but they both ignored me. I hate this gutted shit. It sucks. Why can they not keep a printed box out there and then get sealed from the back? And why the heck is there A MILLION BRAND NEW COPIES of sports games in that case behind the register. There is never hardly any other games but sports games. Gutt those! I appreciate gamestop for the sale but the practices blow donkey nuts.

NEVER MIND GUYS, they were new. They put a circular sticker that is a biatch to peel off at the opening of both games. As a collector of games this is beyond ignorance. I am going to have to invest in a light heat gun to get all these stickers off, potentially ruining the game/case/ect.....

I grabbed Saw (PS3) the other day. I asked them to keep a sealed copy behind the counter for me (I really could care less about "gutted", this just saved me the trouble of peeling off stickers) and it's a good thing I did. When I arrived on day 1 of the sale at noon, it was their last copy of the game. I very highly reccomend this title, especially and the $25 price tag. That being said, this game is definitley made for fans of the film. Rarley does a movie themed game capture so well the feel of it's movie counterpart like Saw does. You really get the same feel you would if you were watching one of the saw movies in a theater. Really fun game!

I've never been sure why everyone seems to think using a hair dryer/heat gun is the only way to get stickers off. Goo gone and citra-sol work pretty darn well for getting GS stickers off.

The only time I've ever had trouble is with the artwork when someone previously ripped it already by trying to just rip the sticker off... I hate getting half the sticker off to find all the artwork underneath has already been destroyed.
