GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]

I'm assuming not a whole lot of accessories will go on sale, right? I'm looking to upgrade my 360 HDD from 20 to 60GB (I figure I can't really need more than that). I thought it might be a good time, especially since people are jumping at the 120 & 250GB models, but I don't see any great deals on the 60GB HDDs...
I would love to get Call of Duty 4, however I simply cannot, not because of Game*Stop, but Activision, they are so damn greedy its just ridiculous
Well, if you buy used then Activision isn't making profits on it but Gamestop is instead so you get to play the game and stick it to Activision at once?

Bah, I ordered Friday and half my order is still "pending" (Disgaea 3, FFT:A2, CoD4:GotY and I forgot the last one). At least my profitable L4D2s made it to shipping.

I encourage folks to check out the EA coupon thread that's been up since yesterday though. $20 off all orders >=$39.95
I didn't know the prices drop if the games don't sell :whistle2:|
I wonder if all the games I bought will still be available in a month and if they will drop a few bucks. I won't feel like a successful cheap-ass if that happens.
Last year the Namco Museum game for the 360 was $15 at first but then dropped to $10 around the end, which I then bought :) (but it was gutted =/). But then again that game isn't exactly the hottest title out there so I guess it depends on the game and the demand.

Another thing I saw was that a little after the sale was over, the game was sold as used with a higher price (I think it was raised back to $15).

Random OT question of the day: can they look up a purchase made with an edge card(and credit on it) to do a return if I lost the receipt?

I can return my AC2 box right?? There's a little tear on the artwork that's really been bothering me and I want to swap it out. It's been like that since I got it on Friday but I didn't notice until recently (since I mailed in my Xbox E74'd I didn't pay to much mind to it since I couldn't play it right now anyways)

i am not sure but you can try

i see no reason that they wont change you the box if you have the receipt, but then again, it depends on how long you been having that box.
If you been having that box for quite a while, Gamestop will pull that right back at you and wont change it.

If you're having trouble getting sticky price tags residue off of cases, you can try WD-40 or paint thinner. They are flammable and toxic so take precaution when doing so though. Spray/soak a paper towel with it and you can wipe the sticky grime off easily, then use a wet nap to take off any excess chemical smells/residue. Do this in a ventilated area and wash your hands after.

The tricky part is if you got tags on the game disc itself or on inserts, those might not come off as nice but if you have steady hands with a razor blade, it might work.

got fallout 3, now i'm wondering if afro samurai is worth the price.
seems like the game dropped in price very fast

PLEASE find one of these first before you attempt to either start yourself on fire or breathe it in...

Goo Gone Mess Free Pen

I've used this 1000x over and it never leaves any oily residue. It's like a marker but you can push to dump more on, and it's effective. VERY.

I've purchased some of the most awful stickers used games and this pen got every single one of those off without any harm to the plastic. If this stuff does get on the artwork, it may darken lighter shades of color but it won't warp or crinkle or smell as bad.

I've already emptied one and purchased another... this is your best friend when it comes to those damn stickers.

xycury: Do you just write over the entire sticker or do you peel some away first?

I have used the traditional (orange scented) goo gone out of the bigger bottle but it is tough to cope with the smell.

I know exactly what you mean, so I'll probably buy Afro/SGC.

I thought the idea of this site was to get games cheap so we can play them, not hoard them in a shelf to be forgotten. What's the value in a gamer to collect video games? At least I play the games I get!! I mean I understand people wanting to get the whole series of a game. I've done that and I tend to enjoy all the games in that series but to sit on this site and argue about plastic wrap is not only silly but a little obsessive too. I'm a video game player, not a collector so if you are getting your panties in a wad over plastic wrap on games you buy with this sale then go somewhere else and buy the games. The company doesn't care either way.

Awesome, didn't know that existed. I'll be hunting one down forthwith - thanks!
Does the Goo-Gone work on stickers that are on the cover art?
Yes but use it VERY conservatively. I tend to just start working the sticker off, put a tiny amount of goo gone on the spot I'm working it off, then keep going slowly so as not to damage the insert.

The company doesn't care either way.
 just stfu

mitnosi - i've never had success with good gone on cover art. you might be able to get the sticker off but your cover art is left with some damage.

Do you apply it to the actual sticker or just the residue that's left behind?

I'm usually one of the first to defend GS, but please be quiet. You sound silly. There really is no need to even try and defend the practice of them opening NEW games and selling them as such. If I go into Target and buy something that has been opened, it comes with a discount. This is true at just about EVERY business in the universe...except boutique-style game stores, for reason. They get away with it. It is what it is, and I rarely say a word about it, because it's not really a big deal to me, but it's a little annoying when people act like it's all right.

As far as that Goo Gone pen goes, wow, another thing to pick up. I love Goo Gone, but I never knew they had a line of products. Must stock the supply closet.

Look, I am not saying it is all right. I mean I bought two games there on Friday and I was looking around at the prices for used copies of the games I just bought and they were more expensive than what I paid for them. In other words, I bought it at a discounted rate for them opening it. You go around the store and buy new games and all they do is just put in the game and manual. I mean it's just the way they do things. Is it right or fair? You decide.

Clearly that's their practice and consumers can vote with their wallets.

But your first post was basically calling everyone a whiny bitch because they all prefer sealed vs gutted. Which makes you an ass.

It's not the same thing. You don't have to be a collector to think factory sealed is better.

Their free shipping is way better then Amazon's. Amazon usually takes me like 5(business days) to get while GS is only about 3 business days...or it's because I'm near their(GS) HQ in Texas.

My Left 4 Dead 2 order shows that it shipped a while ago on Gamestop.com however the tracking # still brings up "There is no record of this item" 3 days after it shipped out? My regular order already arrived that I ordered earlier the same day as L4D2 order.

American Girl: Kit -- Mystery Challenge (Nintendo DS)

whats the deal on this game

sale price is 12.99
amazon TIV is 18
-20 off 80 @ GS deal of day

makes it a no brainer flip, but what I don't get is amazon is selling 60+ used and 100+ new

What the deal with this game? or am I missing something?

TIA for anyone with a good answer

you've stumbled upon a bad game that is slightly rare and oop.
I would guess a steady supply of girls that like the American Girl line results in just enough demand to keep it at a $20-30 level on ebay- and much too high on amazon
with a buy limit of 2, it will be interesting to see if resellers have an immediate impact.

If you chose free shipping there is no tracking information.

All my older orders (that were all free shipping) all allowed me to track, including the one that arrived today. Edit... UPS will check UPS. # won't work on UPS either.

I think with value, you often get tracking, but you aren't guaranteed. Also, if usps, the delivery confirmation isn't really tracking.
From the shipment confirmation email:
I just said that on all my orders shipped with value shipping I got tracking info. All except this one.

Seems Lego Rock band has been added to GameDays. It's $29.99 new, which some are saying is the new MSRP. Either way, gamestop.com is the best place to buy because since they're counting as part of gamedays, the 10% off code works.

Amazon started going with OnTrac for delivery in this area, and it's getting to me in under 24 hours now. GS takes about 2 days for me =P
