GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]

I just saw it says online now Online Only Extra 10% off Gamedays coupon code GD10. WTF. Do you think we can get them to honor this on what we just bought that was already shipped? fuck it I would've only saved an additional 50 cents.

I bought my copy of Saw in store, but that's a little annoying for those of us who purchased gamedays stuff online...don't know why they wouldn't have put this up at the start of the sale.
Hmmmm to get Saw or not...
That depends on how big of a fan you are of the movies. This game is made more for fans of the film than the everyday core or casual gamer. In that respect, however, Konami did an excellent job. You get the same feeling playing this game you'd get sitting and watching a Saw movie in the theater. If you enjoy the Saw movies, this game is definitley for you.

In terms of goo-gone if you want to be cheapass and get the most for your money, I'd go with the bottled goo-gone over pen. Like the 8 ounce bottle with free shipping. Just pick it up with your next normal order. You don't get much in those pens in comparison. I can't speak about how well bottle works vs pen, but I'm sure it's very similar if you use a q-tip and apply appropriately. Link to goo-gones by price http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1269896...oo+gone,i:hpc,n:3760901,n:!3760931&sort=price
I'm kind of new to this whole ordering of Gamestop.com thing. Are their any other coupons to get free shipping?
SAVER gets you free vaule shipping. I think it's supposed to be for orders of $25 or more, but most of the time it works on anything.

FREESHIP gives you free overnight shipping on orders of $49.99, if i recall correctly.

CAG16 - 16% off any order (Or is it used only?)

SAVER is a useless coupon, there is free shipping on every order over $25.
CAG16 is only for used games.
GD10 cannot be combined with other coupons.
Clearly that's their practice and consumers can vote with their wallets.

But your first post was basically calling everyone a whiny bitch because they all prefer sealed vs gutted. Which makes you an ass.

It's not the same thing. You don't have to be a collector to think factory sealed is better.
Especially when you see how the employees often treat the discs. I've seen a lot of people treat the discs they own terribly (hence all those games traded in without a case), but when it's not even their own they really don't care. I, on the other hand, know how to take care of my things and have never had a scratched CD/DVD/game disc and I'd really prefer to keep it that way. If it's factory sealed it might have problems, but at least I know that it isn't because a bunch of jack-off kids being paid minimum wage damaged it by opening it and shoving it into a cheap paper sleeve in a drawer somewhere. IANAL, but in almost every other case once something is opened, for any reason, you can no longer sell it as new.

Wanting to keep my boxes looking nice is just a slight extension of this. I'm definitely not a collector, but I do like to keep my things in good shape. Big sticky blotches on the cover just look bad and since once I buy it I'm going to keep it forever I don't see why I should have to put up with having the store pre-damage my soon-to-be property.

Worse case I've ever seen was when I bought a copy of Digital Devil Saga and the big slipcase it came in was badly shopworn to the point of being creased in half. It looked like something that someone had owned for years, hell, my NES games are in better shape, but it was still being sold as "new". It was, of course, a gutted copy (with the game disc and CD shoved into the same sleeve) and I had to complain to the clerk to get even 15% off for the terrible condition. Sadly as games go out of stores much faster than in the past we frequently have to put up with this sort of thing because if you don't buy it relatively soon after release you'll have to either put up with even worse condition from used games and not long after find it almost completely impossible to buy it unless you pay inflated prices on eBay bid up by actual collectors.
My guess would be for that for Arkham Asylum, they really don't want to sell a lot of cheap copies of the game before the GOTY comes out, because I would really be surprised if that many people who own the original are really going to pay again to upgrade. I mean, really, what do you get? A handful of extra maps (some of which are already available as free DLC) and a gimmicky 3D mode. I know that I have no plans to bother upgrading, and if I didn't own it already, given the choice between a cheap copy of the old version or a full-price copy of the GOTY version, the cheap old version would win all the way.
While I agree with you that the GOTY edition looks crappy I think that once it's released they'll have to reduce the price on the original version even more because regardless of what's in the box people will want the new version. I doubt you'll see a lot of people upgrading, but what you will see are the people like myself who haven't yet bought it. Since it does have such little value you'll get a bunch of people who won't buy the GOTY edition because they can just get the original cheaper and once GOTY hits they'll be more or less forced to reduce the price on the original.

I think the smart move is to sell off as much stock on the original copy as they can now for a discounted price. When GOTY comes out they'll be pushing that as the only new version that they have in stock and continue to sell the original as a higher-margin used title to capture the market who doesn't think the GOTY edition adds value. Not to mention that if they drop the price on new copies they'll also have to drop the price on used copies. No need to drop the price on new copies of the original game if they no longer have any in stock, right?

So in the end you sell off your existing stock of a title you no longer want to be carrying at a price close to what you'd be forced to reduce it to, but under the guise of making it a big sale. Then, when GOTY comes out you sell it at full MSRP and the used price for the original stays exactly the same.

I ended up calling GS.com on their support number, spoke with a rep over the phone and she said she's be crediting back $4 onto my credit card for the two $20 items that were ordered on Friday and arrived today.

Have to wait and see, of course. Might be worth doing for anyone that already ordered, since I asked her if she could do it in lieu of me making a second order and returning the first orders' items to a GS store.
don't know why they wouldn't have put this up at the start of the sale.
More than likely because the largest volume of orders happens in the first few days of the sale, and they want to catch as many orders as possible at full price. Now that everyone has ordered the stuff they really wanted enough to order right away, it's probably dropped off, and so they're putting the coupon up to give it another push.
Hard to keep track of all the GS coupons floating around these days...
I'm just glad there's another GS thread. That makes 7 on the first page. And I thought CAGs hated Gamestop?
That depends on how big of a fan you are of the movies. This game is made more for fans of the film than the everyday core or casual gamer. In that respect, however, Konami did an excellent job. You get the same feeling playing this game you'd get sitting and watching a Saw movie in the theater. If you enjoy the Saw movies, this game is definitley for you.
Oh I am a fan of the movies. However I really have done a good job of holding off on getting this until it hit a sub $20 price point. Still have to debate this one.
The 20% coupon for 360 games was better (dead for now).
For my order, which was a $20 Wii game and a $20 360 game, it doesn't matter either way on this one.

For anyone that didn't have a high percentage of 360 games, this is as good an option, and the 20% off 360 game coupon is dead.

My order from Friday with two games arrived today. Sent Value shipping and had a DC on each of the two shipments. Both new items, shrinkwrapped. I've received only two gutted items with the orders I've placed with EBGames.com and they fixed both issues quickly.

I also called them to try and get 10% back from the GD10 coupon, which the rep reluctantly did. It was either that or make a new order and return the old one.

What is the point of all these coupons? At the same time they are running essentially 25% off any order in the $80 range, they are running 10% off the Game Days games only. Nothing is stacking with off20 unfortunately (including FREESHIP for overnight shipping on orders over $50, which is a real annoyance).

Well I guess I will call them as well tonight. I was about to do another order and then return what I already bought. Thanks Shrike.

It's less of a PITA to have them credit me the money and have them eat shipping twice.

Yeah, it would be easier, but I got an ahole when I called, so I just said "okay, no big deal". I get home and find my games. Too bad they sent me Il2 Sturmovik instead of Sacred 2! So I went ahead and reordered with the code. And now I get to call back with a real problem! :D

These coupons get more sales. If someone doesn't want to spend $80 they use the 10% one. Let's not complain about coupons that give us more choices.

For some reason this coupon took 5 bucks off a potential used order of Demon's Souls.

...I wasn't even trying it, I had HOTD: Overkill in my basket with the code applied, then added Demon's souls. After I deleted HOTD: Overkill, GD10 still worked.

And no, CAG16 didn't stack with it :X (this was a Used copy, remember!)

There might be a B2G1 at the end of the sale as well don't lose hope yet + since they have done that 50% deal on games they are fully stocked on good titles at your local stores. At least mine was, pretty much every title available on ps3, 360 so if you come early the day its announced you should be lookin good.

Well I picked up a sealed copy of Afro Samurai today. The slipcover was a little beat up, but I cant complain for ~$11.

No luck finding a sealed copy of Alone in the Dark though. The store I went to today had 6 separate stickers on both gutted copies of AitD; 6!

Picked up Disgaea 3 and Cursed Mountain in store. They were both gutted but the discs were oh so shinny. I saw a chubby kid with skinny jeans on while I stood in line though. That chuckle made up for the games being gutted.

So I called Gamestop back and was told I could return the wrong game to the store. Got to the store and was told what I thought. No can do since the games UPC codes dont match. So we called customer service, explained the situation and the guy said he would send out Sacred 2 and I could keep IL2 "for my trouble". I asked for his name and he said I would see the order on my account. Do you guys know how I can see if I am being sent the game? I dont see it on my account page or order history yet. Anyone have this issue before? Thanks

Why would you use this coupon over CAG16?
Why would you use this coupon over CAG16?
I wasn't meaning to, the code was applied in my cart from having a GD-sale item already in there. When I added Demons Souls and removed HOTD: Overkill, the coupon still worked, and took off 5 bucks

Obviously CAG16 and Edge is better :p. I just thought it was weird. Maybe Demon's souls is a potential GD-item for later? Or its just a fluke.

(I tried a new copy, too, and the 10% worked as well!)

Finally got shipping confirmations on my 2 orders, though they split them into 3 seperate shipments (lol).

I used xbox20 code or whatever on all of them, which saved me a total of like 20-30ish credit, and also Left 4 Dead 2 was in one of the orders, and I got that for like 12+ credit with cag16+edge.

really didnt think all of it would ship, so im very happy it appears to all be on its way :) (we'll see what kinda shape some of it comes in tho.... *crosses fingers)

got back from gamespot hours ago and fall out 3 dragon ball z raging blast fall out was sealed but dbz wasn't im considering returning dbz but im going down to south carolina tomorrow would i be able to return it appropriate any help

anybody know why they never seem to ship games alltogether anymore? used to be when all the games were in stock theyd come in one box now i always end up with different packages shipped at diff times.
