GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]
Wow. What a stupid thing to get bitchy over. I was happy since it was a giftcard I didn't have to pay for. So for me it was magically a better deal.

It's not my fault if people don't read or jump to conclusions.
So if I started a thread that said:

Title: ALAN WAKE LE: $15 at AMAZON!!!

Body: It's $80 and I had a $65 credit for trade ins. Awesome deal!

And then everyone got pissed cause they clicked on it. It's everyone else's fault that they jumped to conclusions?

That would be annoying, but this guy did nothing of the sort. I'd say it would be your fault for jumping to conclusions if you don't bother to read the entire sentence.
it seems like they're adding games to the sale, but not to the main list pages
Such as? Really, it's helpful if when you say that they're adding games, you also say which ones as well. ;)

I think he just wanted to bump his day old thread, even though this information (extra 10%) is in the main Game Days thread.
Like what?
*facepalm* lol duh sorry guys

So far i've noticed Lego Rock band added to the sale, and the price of Guitar Hero Aerosmith has gone down from $14 to $10
Like what?
Demon's Souls still works with the GD10 coupon, which could nab you a copy for 54 bucks before Tax/Shipping........

I can't think of any other games to try. ...oh wait. Same code worked on White Knight Chronicles (USED, even)....hmm.

Maybe just the code is borked :X

OK I take that back. It seems GD10 works on -any- game, as long as its in stock (no pre-orders). I can't seem to find a game the code doesn't work on.

The 10% off, with the free value shipping, was enough to get me to get a couple things. I was on the fence for Sacred 2 at $20, $18 is enough to get me to get it. I would've picked up Afro Samurai for $10 at the mall if they'd had it at the gamestop there, but I wasn't going to go out of my way to another store to get it. Everything else either I have or I'll wait until it's a bit cheaper.

I don't know why, but the final prices are different for me.

For example, when ordering online from GameStop.com, tax to CA is charged 8.75% and free shipping. But when looking at my order history on the site, it calculates to 9.25% and free shipping. And when looking at the order confirmation email, it's 9.25% + shipping.

So basically, I get 3 different totals (1 from ordering online, 1 from order history, 1 from order confirmation email), with only 1 of which is correct. I will look on the invoice when the item arrives to see which amount is correct. Weird. Just noticed that.

I also noticed some inconsistencies in order totals, though mine weren't as bad. I'm going to check my credit card to see how much they actually charge me.

In other news, the last half of my order finally shipped last night (after ordering on Friday). Fortunately, my L4D2s for flipping were on the first batch and will arrive tomorrow. Plenty of time to ship them off to Amazon.

In some cities, there's an additional local sales tax, which is often around 0.5% when it happens (which could explain the difference). Are you sure that your city doesn't have something like that?

If not, maybe GameStop has something messed up in their sales tax database. I did some development work on a shopping site for a company once, and man, was dealing with sales tax and all of the different variances around it a pain in the ass. I could see how they could get something wrong.
I don't know why, but the final prices are different for me.
I had something similar. I think the order confirmation email only shows the estimated tax, whereas the order history shows the actual tax charged. I checked my edge card balance and it matched up with the order history page.

Yeah, my area is 9.25% tax. GS charges me 8.75% tax when ordering online from them (so I think I actually benefit from ordering online vs going to B&M).

Looking at the totals from confirmation email and order history however, 9.25% is charged.

There is some discrepancy from matching up the totals. I will wait and see what actually gets charged.

Legally, they have to charge you 9.25% if the tax in your area is 9.25% (at least if they have a store there). They could get in trouble if they don't. More than likely their site is only set up to display the base state tax rate but not the local variants (hence the "estimated tax" that dino88 mentioned), but their processing system is set up to calculate the whole thing properly. So you probably will get charged the 9.25%.

The general problem with a lot of CAGs and gift cards is that they subtract it both ways. For example, they take the $10 in credit they get for pre-ordering a game and subtract it from the final price of that game, and subtract it again whenever they actually use the gift card. It doesn't work that way.

Just a heads up: It appears almost everything that is part of the Game Days sale has dropped in price in the used sections.

This means, you're now better off getting 360, PS3 and Wii games from the site with CAG16, SAVER and the Edge Card. Also, for some reason, it seems the GD10 code works on used versions of the games on sale.

Combining CAG16 with the Edge Card results in these prices:

Afro Samurai - $6.80
BioShock - $9.82
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - $9.82
Fallout 3 - $13.60
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger - $13.60

bought karaoke revolution 2 today. The copy was listed as new and I even asked the guy working there if i could get a sealed copy (they sold out) but the box looks brand new and i hope so is the disk. Didnt seem worth it to go to another gamestop for a sealed copy. So just ask if they have sealed copies btw
no need for saver shipping is free on orders over 25 anything under 25 saver wont work anyway
Obviously, but there are people who like to get more than one item. :p
I'm still hoping Amazon will match the Persona 4 price but I might just cave and order with the 10% off coupon
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they did. However, they sold out nigh-instantly.

So basically, I got new games instead of the free game for what I would of spent if I had bought them used at those prices listed. They don't even have PSP nor COD3 used.

Like someone told me a couple pages ago, I think you have thirty days to return them as long as they're unopened.

How does everyone know if a game is reshrinkwrapped? What does it look like compared to the factory sealed?

Also, I agree with confoosious. It is annoying to read that someone thinks they got a deal because they "paid" $10 for a game after a gift card.

Probably, I bought Afro Samurai "new" from GS but I already threw out the case since they take up too much space. Does GS accept returns on new but gutted copies of game? I remember seeing that new games have to be unopened in order to receive credit.

Yeah, I'm gonna TRY to return the games and buy them used. I say try because I was told at one store that I couldn't exchange a copy of a game (used) since I had payed less via GS.com and I had to pay the difference to exchange it. They would end up losing, that's what I was told.

That's the only reason I think Gamestop gutting their games is bullshit. Finding unopened copies of new games is way too hard, especially with this Game Days sale. There should be a policy regarding buying new games that are already opened, because if they turn you down for a refund on a game they opened themselves, you're fucked.

Yeah, that's the BIGGEST issue with the whole gutting thing. Deals like this come up and end up screwing you out of a possible refund. Hopefully with Game Days games, they allow a refund since most of the games are gutted.

I ordered Sonic's Ultimate Collection for :360: used 10% off and it stacked with a 10 dollar off coupon I recieved from a previous purchase. Total was 6.87 with shipping.

This is true in 95% of cases: (and i'm not using official industry terms)

- Factory sealed usually is a folded seal. very clean. I believe it's called a Y fold.
- reshrinkwrapped is a burned seal. You'll see a seam right down the middle of the case edge.

that being said, i've seen original factory sealed games with the burned seal, especially on DS games. But general rule of thumb.

:roll:This explains some of the disc only ugly Gamestop cover games on the shelves at Gamestop. My one ex was like this. She would toss out the cases/manuals/etc for games and just keep the discs. Of course, she only did that to my shit I was giving her and had her CD/DVD collection sitting on a shelf next to her tv with cases and all.

Some copies of Fallout 3 GOTY edition for the PS3 have the Y fold and some have the heat seal seam version. That's what both copies of the GOTY edition that I currently have are sealed like.

From what I can gather from the Sears thread, it seems like it's a 50/50 chance of getting Y fold or heat sealed.

I ended up picking up Sacred 2 for PS3(gutted:roll:)with some of the credit I had left on my EDGE card from flipping some stuff recently. I also traded in a GC copy of Twilight Princess that I got from Kmart for $5 to finish paying off my pre-order on Red Dead Redemption.

Not a bad day overall.

All copies of Borderlands had the burn seal your descibing when it came out, so your right, definately not universal.

Was about to leave Gamestop today but I saw Afro Samurai on Game Days and remembered about this thread. So I picked up Pure for $15.

I'll probably go back and pick up Afro Samurai or Sonic Unleashed soon.

The plastic when they reshrinkwrap it the lines aren't even and normally kind of rough and jaded as compared when they are manf. wrapped and the wrap almost looks more like saran wrap to me. It is pretty obvious when they do this at least to me.

got prototype and blazblue with the folded seal
sacred 2 came shrinkwrapped, couldn't tell if it was a gut since contents appeared pristine
(all ps3)

The :ps3: Sacred 2 I bought in-store came folded sealed. They only had a gutted copy in the bin but pulled out a new one from behind the counter when I went to check out.

Disgaea 3 for $20.. very tempting. I haven't gotten around to playing the first one yet, though.. purchased it a few months ago but have been occupied with other games. :p

Typical Gamestop, I had a feeling they would pull something like this so all the games I purchased on day 1 were with gift receipts and I didn't open any of them.

I just ordered the same games (AC2, Alone in the Dark, Protype, and IL 2) with edge and cag16 and saved over $20.

Yes they are used, but since 3 of the 4 games were gutted I don't see much difference.

Now my only worry is the eventual B2G1 sale in a few weeks.
i know god damn it early purchases ftl i coulda saved more money
Are you talking about the extra 16% off thing compared to the 10% off?

Don't cag16 and edge stack making it 26%?
Anyone order MGS4 and have it come factory sealed? Also, was it GH or black label?
I just received AC2 and Call of Duty: WaW and they were both sealed, so you should be good.
