Just noticed the Game days sale ad in the latest game informer. Last year's sale was pretty decent so its worth a thread. I'll try to post the ad and coupon later. Best part is the coupon doesn't say anything about being void if copied. No specifics yet on the sale.

It varies. Most likely, you should get NO gutted copies.

If it happens, then just call and bitch. In the past, I have returned gutted items and received a full refund.

No limit as far as I know. I was able to purchase all 7 games and they all ended up being 10% off on the receipt.

I also bit later today and got Harvest Moon and Worms 2 for PSP online since they didn't have HM at my local GS. I probably would've just purchased Harvest Moon, but GS.com has the SAVER coupon set to a minimum of a $25 purchase, so I just decided to get both.
 
Decided to stop at my GS on my way to Target and look around. Found the games in this sale and lo and behold they were all opened and gutted. F*ck that! I am not paying GS what they want for these opened games when they should be sealed. I didnt see any games I wanted besides Odin Sphere anyways, so I no big loss. Typical GS bullsh*t again. At least Target didnt let me down when I went to their clearance section today.

Almost got a wiimote charger, but I just bought some NiMH AAs that are useful for other things, so I put it back.

Edit: I just pulled my PS2 games out of the bag, and they're sealed (no stickers and such). So if you care about that sort of thing (I don't because I'm actually going to play them), there might be extras hiding in drawers in back. WoW wasn't sealed, but PC games rarely are.
 
Sorta surprised how few copies they have for these games. Picked up Sega Genesis Collection PSP and it was the last copy they had.

i went there at about opening time
when i went back about 40 minutes later, there were hardly any copies left xP
(probably 6 copies when i went there, 2 left when i got back)

Its a great game and an amazing price at $40...so at $20, you have to buy it. Its my favorite games of all time (along with Monster Hunter Freedom 1), and it will give you 300+ hrs of gameplay easily if you'd want to do everything. Hundreds of hours of gameplay for $20...I say that's a great deal. Shoot, its around $10 just to see a 1.5hr movie anymore.
 
Picked up Brave Story, Mario vs Sonic, Worms 2: OW DS and Layer Cake umd. Only MvS was sealed. :headache:

Might go back and pick up Worms 2 PSP and Heavy Metal umd. Asked cashier if I had to use the coupon in my mag and he said yeah. He cut it out and wrote "void" on it. :whistle2:|

Can I make a suggestion? I would try something called, "Mr Clean Magic Eraser". All you do is damp it up, and ANYTHING comes off of ANYTHING. Plus it does not warp the plastic case.

Give it a shot. A 3 pack is like 3 bucks, and they can be used over and over. It's what I use to get all the eb grime off of my used games.
 
Well Im sold on it after seeing some of the guns you creat in the game. Just called up gamestop and they are holding me a copy for tomorrow.
 
I can't believe that many locations gutted all the games.

At my local GS, every single game in the gameday sales bin were all sealed and not gutted.

went to gamestop in lamarque, tx (mainland crossing) to check out the gameday sale and every single copy of all of the games have been gutted.
 
well if anyone lives in the Bryan/College Station/Houston area, the gamestop on Holleman at Texas has all sealed games.
 
You guys probably already tried this, but some Gamestops have stock of sealed copies behind the counter glass and only put the majority of the new unsealed copies in the Game Deals box. At one Gamestop, there was an Odin Sphere and a Katamari Damacy gutted. I asked if they had a copy of Katamari sealed by any chance... he checked, getting me a sealed Karamari and he also found a sealed Odin Sphere.
 
So heres a question for you guys. If the game is gutted when you buy it, and you end up hating it they will have to refund your purchase for full price right? They cant say that its opened so it cant be returned right?

I think you got GS/EB policy mixed-up. They do not accept returns on opened new games, unless it is defective, in which case you would receive the same game in return. It is only used games that you can return within seven days for a refund, no matter what the reason.

On another note, I have only been to one store so far, but everything was sealed. This was at Newport in Jersey City.
 
Omg I added monster hunter 2 and fifth element umd to my cart on gamestop.com for 24.98 and its telling me to get free shipping I need it to be 25.00....seriously now...

If they give you any trouble ask them to call corporate and they will fix it for you.

Thats what Im saying though. They dont accept returns on new games once they are opened but if they opened them themselves then what could they say? On a side note a friend of mine just put aside a copy of monster hunter and the fifth element behind the counter for me.:bouncy:

You're buying a "new" copy of a game, so if you tried to return it, they would tell you that and not accept the return, unless the game didn't work.
 
Got Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and Sega Genesis Collection PSP with credit from a few $5 360 games from kmart that I played a bit, but didn't really enjoy. Worked out well, $20 out of pocket for 2 great games.

So if you bought a new game there and brought it back sealed a few days later they wouldnt give you your money back for it? They must be the only store in the world with that policy.

What you're asking isn't making any sense to me. Earlier, you were asking about the hypothetical situation of "hating" the game. Hating the game would imply you played it, so it's already opened. Obviously, if you bring back a game you already opened, they aren't going to give you your money back.

Of course, if you return a sealed game within a certain amount of time, they will refund your money.

No, what happens during this sale is that when you buy a game, they are supposed to put stickers on the part of the case where you open it from. That way, if you want to return it, they know if it's been opened or not. This is for gutted games.

Bigdaddy right about the return policy. I also went to the Newport location after I got off from work. They have the display copies in the bins with the sealed games behind the glass counter. I picked up Soul Calibur 3 and Odin Sphere but they still had display copies for Katamari Damacy. This was around 5pm though.
 
i picked up a nyko ps3 infrared controller for the dvds/blurays for $10 instead of the regular price $20.

I also saw a frontman guitar that works for both rockband and guitar hero on the ps3 for $50. It was only $10 off.
 
I asked them to shrinkwrap a copy I was getting as a gift, aty the Hollywood, CA location. Not only did they not have shrinkwrap, they didn't have the circular stickers they put over the edge of the case.

Off Topic: I remember Wal-Mart sold opened Saturn games, and like Gamestop they would put a circular seal over the edge. I opened the case via the hinge- circumventing the whole sticker thing.

Went to the Brookline, MA GS at Coolidge Corner, and bought Brave Story and Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Apparently, they still had sealed copies of MHF2, because the guy pulled one out instead of just grabbing the UMD. Pretty sweet. I was tempted to buy Valhalla Knights, but instead bought a new sealed copy of Opoona instead.

They still had at least one copy of Katamari and a couple copies of Odin Sphere.
 
Just got back from my gamestop in Cleveland Heights Ohio and while i did not look extensivly, they did have at least 3 copies of each game in stock. They were all gutted but then the dude working on the floor took them from me to ring me out and got me new sealed ones. So all in all it was a good day. I picked up Dementium: The Ward and House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return
 
Anyone here play Viking: Battle for Asgard? I'm debating on purchasing it since it has mediocre reviews. Is it worth the $30?
 
Just stopped at 2 Gamestops that were on the way home here in SFL. Still had multiple copies of everything - including games i thought would be gone long before 7 PM including Odin Sphere and Katamari.

Picked up Warcraft 3 Expansion (Gives me an excuse to install the original again). FYI - Every game i saw in the bins was gutted. They had the discs behind the counter.
