GameStop is a joke...
Not taking any sides, but if a store rips you off, and you rip them off...are you any better?
Sure, the store has a bunch of money, and a few dollars is really nothing to them...but is your honesty worth a few bucks?
Very true!
Actually, the other poster said it had something to do with the store-level stock. Microbim was saying it doesn't.
True, I have been told "we can't give much for that because we have to many in stock" im not sure if they were talking corporate wide, or within that single store.

I'd like to know how much GS makes off the initial sale of a game.

Let's say its $10.

Then the game gets traded in for $25 -> - $15

Then game gets sold for $55 -> +$40

see how it works. They're able to take a marginal profit and turn it into almost a full game sale.

I never give them games unless they have a ridiculous deal, like $5 more for each title, then trade in all my old shit lol

I traded Gears of War & my 2nd copy of Call of Duty 4 at my nearby Gamestop. My 360 caused a scratch ring around my Gears disc, so they took off 4 dollars. I told them it works fine and I shouldn't be tacked off 4 dollars for it (they gave me 11). And they gave me about 25 for Call of Duty. I wasn't happy, but they had a 20% trade-in towards R6V2 and I had my EDGE card's 10%. I no longer want to trade games to them. FYE has a better trade in rate. Or may as well keep them! :(
So you feel good about being dishonest ? GOOD MAN!

Personaly i feel bragging about ripping some one off regardless of who or what it was.. is very lame a true sign of character
They sold the memory card broken to a friend of mine. Admittedly, he(rather his dad) stupidly bought the friggin thing USED, even after I told him about the Nyko cards and how they're $20 new. I feel NO REMORSE AT ALL about giving them back some garbage condition stuff, since they sure as fuck sell alot of trashed merchandise.

If they would stop selling such junk, I might've felt the tiniest twinge of regret, but since they made billions last year, I'm sure they can stand to lose a few bucks on something.

Hell, they're my favorite store to dump off dying systems on too, since they WERE giving $75-100 for older PS2s at one point, which I was getting sans wires/controllers for $15 from a local shop, buying wires and some generic controller for it for $15 and making a bunch on each one.

So yeah, I'm the truest epitome of a devil customer.:evil:

personally i think the only jokes here are the gamers who bitch about good stores. heres how i think of it: you can either keep army of two and get $0 for it and let it rot on your shelf or get $25 for it ($28 where i work) and get a brand new game or even preorder a brand new future release. really no other store lets you do this. i was at target the other day trying to preorder gta iv and guess what? they said i couldent do that. so i went over to gamestop to preorder a copy for $5 and now ill get it on day 1 and itll be only $54.99. and even if i didnt, i could get it used for that price. so you can either be a gamer, who my customers are, or a game dweeb, those who bitch about stores online.

If you would have bought that scratched disc, you'd be posting here about how fucking retarded GameStop is for selling a scratched disc. Pick a side.

oh wow its scratched. it plays. who cares? if you care about what the bottom of a disc looks like then you should be paying a full $60 for each game somewhere else.

I'm assuming, judging by your posts, that you work for GameStop. If you're trying to drum up business, you aren't helping your case by calling your 'customers' names, because, believe it or not, some of those bitching still shop at GS from time-to-time.

Wow... just wow. It will actually still be $59.99, because that $5 deposit didn't just materialize. And just because you preorder, it doesn't guarantee you'll get it day one. There are numerous occurrences of people preordering and GameStop selling their copy hours after opening on the day of release, or people getting stuck with the "new" display copies that have been opened. I'm sorry, but if the shrinkwrap is removed it's not brand new, and if the disc is removed from the case (as they are), it's definitely used.

Perhaps GameStop should exercise better business practices and then these 'dweebs' wouldn't have to bitch about them.

QFT, it is retarded to not count that $5 deposit towards the price of the game. You're not getting the game for $55, you still paid $60. I remember the long thread about opened games from gamestop marked as new, perhaps that was on these forums. If the disc has been opened and touched, it is NO LONGER brand new.

LOL...he acted like the $5 he already spent didn't count. Classic...

But I do think the constant complaining about the open display units is enough by now. It's a stupid policy, one I have e-mailed them about a number of times. They don't care, and it will never change. You don't have to buy them, though. And everytime you get offered one and turn it down, you should e-mail them and tell them so. Will they change? Probably not, but at least, they have to waste their time reading and answering our numerous e-mails.

Actually, I think GmrAddict is good ol' Pepsiboy. IP matches to one of his prior screen names.
